La rentabilidad de las empresas que ofrecen servicios a la tercera edad: Estudio comparativo de los establecimientos residenciales y de los servicios en el hogar

Purpose: We considered two objectives; on one hand, to analyze the effectiveness and efficiency of enterprises, the purpose of which is to provide services to the elderly. On the other hand, examine whether the enactment of law 39/2006, has meant a change in the profitability of the companies. Design/methodology/approach: We study the accounting behaviour of companies that have more than 250 employees. The period submits to study is over the years 2004 to 2011. The data has been obtained through the SABI and AMADEUS databases. The variables analyzed were the operating margin (OMR) rate and the rate of rotation (TAR) assets ratio Findings: The analysis of the evolution of OMR shows that in the subsectors analyzed, the Spanish companies are not profitable. The conclusion is not the same when the variable analyzed is TAR. It shows a change in the behaviour of the analyzed companies since 2007. This variation is statistically significant in the case of the OMR, but not so in the case of TAR. Originality/value: The subsectors analyzed have been little studied in Spain. Knowing the evolution of their behaviour will improve the competitiveness of enterprises

The Independence Indicators of the Audit Profession in Spain

The development of professions is framed in the social, political and economic context of our society. Currently, professions are like an essential element of new forms of capital. We consider that the profes- sion of auditor in Spain deserves special attention because the auditor should be adapted to the European Directive 2006/43/CE. The audit profession should be asked: What needs to be the respects of reform so that the profession can be performed as well in the global as in the European context? We studied these aspects of the audit"s work: 1) The independence of the audit; 2) The responsibility of auditor has to as- sume the auditor in the exercise of their profession; 3) What is the women's situation in the profession now in Catalonia? The methodology used for this study was in the first part of the study, we analyzed the independence of the auditor associated to the cost of service by the distribution of the fees and correlated to the Ibex 35 business indicator from 2002 to 2007 in Spain. For the second and third part, we review the literature and the scientific journals to study the auditor responsibility. In conclusion, our study shows some light on the auditor independence in Spain, that it is similar to the other European countries about the quality service review. El nou paradigma docent i la problemàtica de la implantació a les escoles d'empresarials d'acord amb el Pla Bolonya : els estudis a les empreses, cobreixen les expectatives dels empresaris?

El projecte Tunning sobre educació superior a Europa centra les seves accions, entre d'altres, a definir competències genèriques (instrumentals, interpersonals i sistèmiques) i competències específiques (saber concret d'un àmbit acadèmic). Les ciències socials es plantegen el repte d'adaptar aquest procés a unes certes mancances, perquè el servei que presta al mercat de treball no és tangible i està fet a mida. L'objectiu que persegueix és identificar les competències que, segons els docents, els empresaris i altres agents socials, han d'haver assolit els alumnes. Per realitzar el treball de camp, hem pres com a referència els professors i els empresaris relacionats amb la diplomatura de Ciències Empresarials de la Universitat Pompeu Fabra durant el curs 2005-2006.The Tunning project on higher education focuses, among other issues, on the definition of generic (instrumental, interpersonal, and systemic) as well as specific competences. Social sciences face the challenge of adapting this process to the existence of some shortcomings in their usefulness for labour markets. El rol de la televisión en los hogares españoles = The Role of Television in Spanish Households

[spa] Desde hace unos años se observa en España una tendencia que revela que el carácter totémico, como un elemento más en los procesos de socialización en las familias, que tenía la televisión está transformándose. Este hecho, unido al efecto del multitasking, parece que ha logrado el ocaso del rey de la casa. Nuestra hipótesis de partida era que la televisión continuaba teniendo un papel central en los hogares españoles. En 2017, el instituto de investigación Punto de Fuga lanzó un estudio titulado Las mil y una familias. La metodología de este estudio fue la realización de 100 entrevistas etnográficas y 2.000 encuestas. El consumo familiar de la televisión muestra que las familias buscan momentos para hacer cosas juntos, compartir y a la vez utilizar la televisión como un elemento importante de «comunión familiar». [eng] For some now years a trend has been observed in Spain revealing that the totemic character of television, and in particular, as an important element in family socialization processes, is changing. This fact coupled with the effect of multitasking seems to have led to the decline of the king of the household. Our starting hypothesis in this study was that, despite all the evolutions and mutations, television continues to play a central role in Spanish households. In 2017, the research institute Punto de Fuga, launched the foundational study "Las mil y una familias" [A Thousand and One Families] as an x-ray of Spanish families. In that study, the following methodologies were applied: 100 ethnographic interviews and 2000 surveys. Aunque antiguamente la salud y la beneficencia estuvieron íntimamente ligadas, aún existen prestaciones sanitarias básicas que no están catalogadas en el sistema de salud y que se convierten en sociales para las personas con escasos recursos perdiendo la categoría de sanitarias. A pesar de que en nuestro país la salud aparece como un derecho, debido a que se pueden ofrecer coberturas sanitarias de carácter universal, las políticas sociales que se han ido desarrollado hasta hoy sobre este tema no han conseguido eliminar la exclusión y las desigualdades sociales en el acceso a determinadas prestaciones sanitarias básicas. Lifestyle of the Elderly Receiving Home Care in Spain

The aim of this study is to examine the lifestyle characteristics and health status of the elderly in order to identify aspects that might help promote active ageing. Participants were 26 elderly citizens aged 75 or over who were the recipients of home care services in Vilafranca del Penedès (Barcelona, Spain). They were recruited by means of convenience sampling, and a case study approach was adopted. Fieldwork was conducted in April 2007, with a specially designed questionnaire administered in the context of an in-depth interview. Quantitative data were analyzed with SPSS 15, while qualitative data were analysed and grouped by category. The results indicated that 53.8% of the elderly interviewees perceived their health status as being regular, most did not have adequate nutrition and hydration, while 42.3% had chewing problems and 65.3% presented slight dependence. Most of them received visits at home, but did not go on leisure outings. The only exercise they took was walking. These findings highlight the need to promote and strengthen activities for healthy ageing, and to ensure that people over 75 receive adequate care. Programmes should be implemented to improve those aspects that are currently under-addressed

Calidad de vida y necesidades de formación de las cuidadoras formales de personas mayores dependientes institucionalizadas

Objetivo: Identificar la calidad de vida, satisfacción personal y laboral de las Auxiliares de Geriatría cuidadoras de personas mayores institucionalizadas. Metodología: Estudio descriptivo realizado a partir de datos cuantitativos y datos cualitativos. El tamaño de la muestra fue de 12 Auxiliares de Geriatría que trabajan en el Centro Sociosanitario Ricard Fortuny y en la Residencia Sant Francesc de Vilafranca del Penedès. Resultados: La mayoría está satisfecha con su vida personal y tienen una buena calidad de vida. Les gusta su trabajo y están motivadas, sin embargo, manifiestan estar poco valoradas y remuneradas, piensan que la formación es importante para ofrecer unos cuidados de calidad. Conclusiones y discusión: Se necesita una formación especializada para ofrecer unos cuidados de calidad a los mayores institucionalizados, ello no sólo influye en la satisfacción laboral de las Auxiliares de Geriatría, sino también en su satisfacción personal y calidad de vida

Una mirada histórico-geográfica de las pandemias: para entender de manera compleja la COVID-19

El abordaje para la investigación de brotes/pandemias es una actividad desafiante, necesaria y retadora para los salubristas y epidemiólogos. Esta actuación permite que los servicios de epidemiología y de vigilancia profundicen el conocimiento de la enfermedad, recaben datos históricos de episodios pandémicos, caractericen vulnerables, planteen hipótesis e intervengan los factores de riesgos en un contexto ambiental y sociocultural determinado con una actuación local y una perspectiva global. Se considera un abordaje sindémico, de tal manera que conjugan aspectos de determinantes sociales interconectados y profundizando en la pandemia
