    Improving Listening and Speaking Skills by Using Animation Videos and Discussion Method

    Listening and speaking are the important skills that have to be mastered by the students. By having these skills, the students can communicate with others easily. There are many strategies that can be used to teach listening and speaking skills. One of the strategies is by using animation videos. Many students of all ages still like watching animation videos for they are interesting. Animation videos can help the students more understand because they present visual context aids that assist the students comprehend and improve their learning skills. Animation videos can be integrated with discussion method. This paper aims at providing required information about the advantages of animation videos and how to use them in the teaching and learning English activity

However, the teaching and learning of listening and speaking skills are still problematical. The objectives of this study were to find out whether or not videos plus discussion method was effective in improving the students\u27 listening and speaking achievements.  This study involved one hundred and ninety six of the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 6 Metro and forty of them were selected as the sample by using purposive sampling technique. The results of this study showed that the videos plus discussion method was considered as one of the effective ways to improve the students\u27 listening and speaking achievements

    GAMBARAN MOTIVASI HIDUP PADA ORANG DENGAN HIV/AIDS DI RUMAH CEMARA GEGER KALONG BANDUNG

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi penderita setelah terinfeksi HIV/AIDS mengalami perubahan fisik dan psikis karena harus menyesuaikan diri dengan kondisi yang baru dalam hidupnya. AIDS adalah menurunnya daya tahan tubuh yang diakibatkan oleh virus HIV. Stigma buruk dan diskriminasi oleh masyarakat membuat ODHA (Orang Dengan HIV/AIDS) mempunyai kondisi yang semakin melemah, bahkan depresi. Motivasi hidup adalah suatu keyakinan dan dorongan bagi diri sendiri yang akan mempengaruhi individu bersikap dalam menghadapi situasi yang beragam. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif dengan desain fenomologi deskriptif dan menggunakan sampel teknik purposive sampling. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah mengidentifikasi gambaran motivasi pada orang dengan HIV/AIDS di Rumah Cemara Geger Kalong Bandung. Teknik pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik wawancara, keabsahan data diuji dengan triangulasi. Sejumlah 10 informan (4 ODHA dan 4 anggota keluarga dan 2 pengurus ODHA) berpartisipasi dalam penelitian. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukan bahwa dengan adanya motivasi untuk hidup, ODHA mempunyai semangat untuk bekerja, semangat untuk bersosialisasi, semangat untuk berkarya dan pikiran yang positif. Faktor utama yang mempengaruhi motivasi hidup ODHA adalah optimisme hidup yang kuat dalam diri penderita. Motivasi hidup ODHA adalah berbagi kebahagiaan dengan orang lain. Motivasi tersebut juga yang membuat ODHA mempunyai tujuan hidup. Faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi motivasi hidup ODHA yaitu keluarga. ODHA yang memiliki keyakinan positif dengan keluarga membuat penderita HIV/AIDS akan memotivasi dirinya untuk hidup. Dengan Keyakinan positif dalam kehidupan akan membawa ODHA untuk memiliki tujuan hidup yang jelas setelah terinfeksi HIV/AIDS

    Ketidakpatuhan tenaga kesehatan melakukan cuci tangan seringkali dikaitkan dengan kejadian angka infeksi nosokomial di rumah sakit. Angka infeksi nosokomial di Instalasi Rawat Inap Rajawali RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang adalah 24,4 permil dan termasuk salah satu angka yang tinggi di area RSUP Dr. Kariadi. Angka kepatuhan cuci tangan tenaga kesehatan pada Oktober 2014 adalah 48,2% dimana jauh dari target capaian kepatuhan cuci tangan yaitu 100%. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah menganalisis faktor-faktor yang berhubungan dengan kepatuhan tenaga kesehatan dalam melakukan cuci tangan di Instalasi Rawat Inap Rajawali RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitiankuantitatif dengan pendekatan cross-sectional. Responden penelitian ini adalah 70 tenaga kesehatan di Instalasi Rawat Inap Rajawali RSUP Dr. Kariadi Semarang. Teknik pengambilan sampel penelitian menggunakan simple random sampling. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan 60% responden tidak patuh menerapkan cuci tangan sesuai prosedur. Analisis statistik menggunakan Chi Square Test didapatkan variabel yang berhubungan dengan tingkat kepatuhan tenaga kesehatan melakukan cuci tangan yaitu pengetahuan responden (p-value= 0,035) dan sikap responden (p-value= 0,035). Faktor-faktor lain yang tidak berhubungan dengan tingkat kepatuhan tenaga kesehatan melakukan cuci tangan adalah umur responden (p-value= 0,308), pendidikan responden (p-value= 0,136), masa kerja responden (p-value= 1,000), ketersediaan fasilitas (p-value= 1,000), sosialisasi cuci tangan (p-value= 0,342), peraturan atau SOP (p-value= 1,000), pengawasan pimpinan (p-value= 0,148), dan dukungan teman sejawat (p-value= 0,514) karena memiliki p value > 0,05. Perlu adanya pelatihan cuci tangan secara rutin dan peraturan yang diimbangi sanksi bagi yang tidak menerapkan cuci tangan sesuai prosedur. Kata Kunci: Kepatuhan, Cuci Tangan, Tenaga Kesehata

    THE INFLUENCE OF STORY MAPPING STRATEGY AND READING HABIT TOWARDS READING COMPREHENSION ACHIEVEMENT OF THE EIGHTH GRADE STUDENTS OF SMP N 35 PALEMBANG

    Abstract This study was to investigatethe influence of story mapping strategy and reading habit towards reading comprehension achievement of the eighth grade students of SMP N 35 Palembang. The population of this study was all theeighth grade students of SMP N 35 Palembang. The sample was 60 students (experimental class is consisted of 15 students’ high reading habit and 15 students’ low reading habit and control class is consisted of 15 students’ high reading habit and 15 students’ low reading habit) were taken by using two-stage random sampling. In carrying out the research, the writer used an experimental method; factorial design.The writer distributed test and reading habit questionnaire (high and low reading habit) in collecting the data. Then, in analyzing the data, the writer usedt-test and two-way ANOVA. The result of this study that; first, there was significant difference in reading comprehension achievement between the eighth grade students who had high reading habit and those who had low reading habit taught by using story mapping strategy. Second, there was significant difference in reading comprehension achievement between the eighth grade students who had high reading habit and those who had low reading habit taught byusing traditional teaching method. Third, there was significant difference in reading comprehension achievement between students who had high reading habit taught by using story mapping strategy and those who were taught by using traditional teaching method. Fourth, there was not any significant difference in reading comprehension achievement between students who had low high reading habit taught by using story mapping strategy and those who were taught by using traditional teaching method. And the last, there was significant interaction effect of story mapping strategy and reading habit on reading comprehension achievement of the eighth grade students of SMP N 35 Palembang.Keywords : Story Mapping Strategy, Students’ Reading Habit, Reading Comprehension Achievement.

    SMK Negeri 6 Yogyakarta yang beralamatkan di Jl. Kenari no.4 Yogyakarta adalah sekolah kejuruan yang merupakan salah satu lokasi KKN – PPL UNY 2014. KKN PPL dilaksanakan selama 2,5 bulan pada tanggal 1 Juli 2014 hingga pada tanggal 17 September 2014. Kegiatan KKN meliputi pelaksanaan program yang telah direncanakan dan untuk kegiatan PPL meliputi praktik mengajar dan pembuatan RPP, media pembelajaran, dan administrasi guru. Tujuan dari kegiatan KKN adalah untuk mengembangkan kemandirian dan menerapkan keahlian yang dimiliki serta kegiatan untuk bersosialisasi dengan orang lain. Tujuan dari kegiatan PPL adalah untuk mengembangkan teori yang telah didapat selama perkuliahan, dan untuk mengembangkan diri menumbuhkan kemampuan sebagai bekal untuk menjadi tenaga pendidik di masa yang akan datang. Setiap mahasiswa PPL sudah ditentukan guru pembimbing oleh sekolah. Guru pembimbing tersebut akan memonitoring mahasiswa PPL selama mengajar di kelas. Namun, sebelum mengajar, mahasiswa wajib membuat perangkat pembelajaran yang meliputi RPP dan media pembelajaran yang di konsultasikan kepada guru pembimbing. Penulis mengajar secara individu pada mata pelajaran Tata Hidang di kelas XI JB 1, XI JB2, dan XI JB 3. Berbagai media pembelajaran sudah disumbangkan dalam berbagai bentuk agar dapat lebih membantu proses KBM di SMK Negeri 6 Yogyakarta. Media tersebut juga akan lebih mempermudah guru dalam mengajar karena siswa akan lebih memahami lagi

    KARAKTERISTIK CAMPURAN LASTON AC-WC DENGAN SUBSTITUSI BUTON ROCK ASPHALT (BRA) DAN POLIMER ETHYLENE VINYL ACETATE (EVA) TERHADAP RENDAMAN AIR BERLUMPUR

    Jalan merupakan prasarana yang sangat menunjang kebutuhan hidup masyarakat. Salah satu kerusakan dan penurunan kekuatan pada perkerasan lentur jalan raya disebabkan rendahnya kekuatan dan keawetan pada lapisan aus Asphalt Concrete-Wearing Course (AC-WC). Genangan air banjir merupakan salah satu dampak kerusakan yang mengurangi keawetan bagi konstruksi jalan dengan perkerasan aspal, genangan air ini dapat berasal dari luapan air sungai atau akibat dari sistem drainase yang buruk di sepanjang jalan. Pada penelitian ini subtitusi Buton Rock Asphalt (BRA) serta limbah polimer Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA) menjadi alternatif untuk memperbaiki kinerja campuran aspal dari dampak permasalahan tersebut. Pemanfaatan limbah sebagai bahan campuran aspal beton sudah sangat banyak dikembangkan, limbah yang dapat dimanfaatkan kembali antara lain adalah polimer Ethylene Vinyl Acetate (EVA). Berdasarkan hal tersebut dilakukan penelitian dengan memodifikasi campuran laston lapis aus (AC-WC) menggunakan polimer EVA sebagai substitusi aspal (additive) dan Buton Rock Asphalt (BRA) sebagai filler. Tujuan penelitian ini untuk mengetahui mengetahui pengaruh penggunaan limbah EVA sebagai additive aspal pen 60/70 dan substitusi BRA sebagai filler terhadap karakteristik campuran laston lapis aus (AC-WC). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa nilai stabilitas terbaik dengan rendaman air biasa tanpa substitusi yaitu sebesar 1241,46 kg, nilai stabilitas terbaik dengan substitusi BRA yaitu sebesar 1450,78 kg pada persentase BRA 50%, dan nilai stabilitas terbaik dengan substitusi EVA yaitu sebesar 1655,79 kg pada persentase EVA 3%. Nilai stabilitas terbaik dengan rendaman air berlumpur tanpa substitusi yaitu sebesar 1098,95 kg, nilai stabilitas terbaik dengan substitusi BRA yaitu sebesar 1476,34 kg pada persentase BRA 50%, dan nilai stabilitas terbaik dengan substitusi EVA yaitu sebesar 1695,36 kg pada persentase EVA 3%

The purpose of this study is to determine a more dominant factor among organizational factors, factors, individual and physical environmental factors and group factors that occur in Bulog Vault Employee Section VI Bondowoso Sub Division, to determine the stress levels of employees who happen to Employees Parts Warehouse Perum Bulog Bondowoso Sub Division VI, to determine the level of employee performance Parts Warehouse Bulog Bondowoso Sub Division VI, to determine the factors that cause stress the most influence on the occurrence of work stress Employees Parts Warehouse Bulog Bondowoso Sub Division VI, to determine the significant influence of job stress Employee performance Parts Warehouse Bulog Bondowoso Sub Division VI The analytical tool used to know the factors that causes stress is dominant, the level of work stress, which occurs at the level of employee performance Bulog Bondowoso Sub Division VI, while to determine the factors most influential causes of stress and work stress effect on the performance analysis tool used multiple linear regression. Scale analysis results showed that the factors that cause job stress consisting of organizational factors on a scale of low valuation, which gained an average of 95.5 on criteria 70-99; individual factors on the assessment scale height, which is obtained by an average of 104 at 100-129 criteria; physical environmental factors on a scale of low valuation, which gained an average of 88.7 on criteria 70-99; factor group on the assessment scale height, which is obtained by an average of 99.5 on the criteria of 70 - 99. While job stress is composed of physiological stress showed low rating scale, which gained an average of 98.3 on criteria 70-99; stress behavior indicates low rating scale, which gained an average of 96.8 on criteria 70-99 ; stress in the workplace showed low rating scale, which gained an average of 98.3 in the 70-99 criteria. Scale analysis results also indicate the level of employee performance appraisal criteria of 108 at 100-129 belonging to a high rating. Results of multiple regression analysis the factors that cause job stress to work stress that the calculation of correlation coefficient (r) of 0.822 and correlation coefficient of work stress with the performance of employees at 0.693 represents a positive value with near perfect relationship. The amount of influence factors that cause job stress on job stress variable of 0.676 means that the influence of the factors that cause job stress on employee stress by 67.6%, whereas the effect of work stress variables on the performance of employees is 0.480, which means the effect of work stress variables employee performance by 48%. From calculations using multiple linear regression analysis the factors that cause job stress on employee stress obtained equation Y1 = 4.332 + 0.893 X1 + 0.999 X2 + 0.455 X3 + 0.952 X4 + e. while to test the hypothesis (F) to determine the influence of the factors that cause job stress on employee performance of the Warehouse Bulog Bondowoso Sub Division VI is the result of testing simultaneously calculated F value of 18.270, while the F table at 2, 61 at 95% confidence level , therefore F count> F table Ho is rejected, then simultaneously variable factors that cause significant stress on the performance of the warehouse employees Bulog Bondowoso Sub Division VI. As for the multiple linear regression of job stress on employee performance is obtained the equation Y1 = 0.239 + 0.417 + 0.234 Y1.1 Y1.3 Y1.2 + 0.644 + e. As for testing the hypothesis (F) to determine the influence of job stress on employee performance part of Warehouse Bulog Bondowoso Sub Division VI, simultaneously testing the value of F count at 11, 064 while the F table at 2, 84 at 95% confidence level, therefore F count> F table Ho is rejected, then the simultaneous work stress variables significantly influence warehouse employee performance part Bulog Bondowoso Sub Division VI. Based on the above conclusions, the writer implies that the management should pay attention to job stress that occurred in the company so that employees can be more improved performance.
