Relation of the cyclotomic equation with the harmonic and derived series

We associate some (old) convergent series related to definite integrals with the cyclotomic equation $x^m-1= 0$, for several natural numbers $m$; for example, for $m = 3$, $x^3-1 = (x-1)(1+x+x^2)$, leads to $\int_0^1dx\frac{1}{(1+x+x^2)} = \frac{\pi}{(3\sqrt{3})} = (1-\frac{1}{2}) + (\frac{1}{4}-\frac{1}{5}) + (\frac{1}{7}-\frac{1}{8}) + \ldots$ . In some cases, we express the results in terms of the Dirichlet characters. QUIJANO AS QUIJOTE: DECODING MADNESS THROUGH PSYCHOLOGICAL THEORY

This thesis approaches Alonso’s Quijano’s conversion into Don Quijote from the point of view of a psychologist. The aim of this thesis is to explain the cognitive and psychological experiences that move Alonso Quijano to become Don Quijote and its impact in the development of our current studies of the mind. Thus, one specific question will direct my project although this question will be addressed using a multidisciplinary psychologist approach. The research question is “How can Alonso Quijano’s psychological experiences and interpretations of the real world be explained today?” This question will be addressed by referencing five episodes in the novel which, in conjunction with psychological theory, will provide support for the argument of this thesis. My own academic formation and my course work in the graduate program in Hispanic Studies have shown me that there are various concepts that can be used to analyze and study the main character of this novel in terms of its futurities, that is, as a path to explore and trace the genealogy of many of our contemporary questions in regard to the human mind and its cognitive development. Therefore, the aim of this research is to contribute to Alonso Quijano’s studies by providing a behavioral and cognitive psychologist approach to the dichotomous Alonso Quijano/Don Quijote state of mind and, in this way, to provide another bridge of conversation between the humanities and the social sciences

Desde la aparición de los dispositivos móviles, se han desarrollado multitud de aplicaciones para la monitorización y gestión de rutinas de entrenamiento. En este trabajo se presenta un estudio de viabilidad de una app específica para árbitros de fútbol. Para ello, se han empleado una combinación de técnicas mediante un método mixto de investigación. A pesar de que los potenciales usuarios se han mostrado muy interesados en este tipo de aplicaciones, en la actualidad no existe ninguna solución para ellos

Aprendo con mi huerta casera

Se realizó una cartilla de trabajo que orienta a los estudiantes en el desarrollo de una huerta casera, apoyados y orientados desde las diferentes asignaturas de grado quinto. Los docentes nos hemos integrado para realizar un trabajo unificado de modo que responda a la elaboración de una huerta en casa. Se usaron personajes de la película Trolls para ambientar y motivar el aprendizaje. Dadas las condiciones de los estudiantes y el contexto en el cual viven, se busca acercar el aprendizaje por medio físico, ya que no cuentan con buena conectividad a internet ni equipos buenos para esto

Singlet-doublet Dirac fermion dark matter from Peccei-Quinn symmetry

Weakly Interacting Massive Particles (WIMPs) and axions are arguably the most compelling dark matter (DM) candidates in the literature. Here, we consider a model where the PQ symmetry solves the strong CP problem, generates radiatively Dirac neutrino masses, and gives origin to multicomponent dark sector. Specifically, scotogenic Dirac neutrino masses arise at one-loop level. The lightest fermionic mediator acts as the second DM candidate due to a residual $Z_2$ symmetry resulting from the PQ symmetry breaking. The WIMP DM component resembles the well-known singlet-doublet fermion DM. While the lower WIMP dark mass region is usually excluded, our model reopens that portion of the parameter space (for DM masses below $\lesssim 100$ GeV). Therefore, we perform a phenomenological analysis that addresses the constraints from direct searches of DM, neutrino oscillation data, and charged lepton flavor violating (LFV) processes. The model can be tested in future facilities where DM annihilation into SM particles is searched for by neutrino telescopes.Comment: 27 pages, 6 figures and 2 table

CMG helicase disassembly is essential and driven by two pathways in budding yeast

The CMG helicase is the stable core of the eukaryotic replisome and is ubiquitylated and disassembled during DNA replication termination. Fungi and animals use different enzymes to ubiquitylate the Mcm7 subunit of CMG, suggesting that CMG ubiquitylation arose repeatedly during eukaryotic evolution. Until now, it was unclear whether cells also have ubiquitin-independent pathways for helicase disassembly and whether CMG disassembly is essential for cell viability. Using reconstituted assays with budding yeast CMG, we generated the mcm7-10R allele that compromises ubiquitylation by SCFDia2. mcm7-10R delays helicase disassembly in vivo, driving genome instability in the next cell cycle. These data indicate that defective CMG ubiquitylation explains the major phenotypes of cells lacking Dia2. Notably, the viability of mcm7-10R and dia2Δ is dependent upon the related Rrm3 and Pif1 DNA helicases that have orthologues in all eukaryotes. We show that Rrm3 acts during S-phase to disassemble old CMG complexes from the previous cell cycle. These findings indicate that CMG disassembly is essential in yeast cells and suggest that Pif1 family helicases might have mediated CMG disassembly in ancestral eukaryotes

Optimización del programa de mantenimiento para los equipos de apoyo de la planta Woldtex Caribe mediante la implementación del mantenimiento basado en la condición

La implementación de estrategias innovadoras en los planes de mantenimiento para volver cada vez más eficiente el gerenciamiento de activos dentro de las compañías, es actualmente el eje central de los estudios desarrollados por los profesionales del campo para dar sostenimiento y continuidad al ejercicio de producción de las plantas. De acuerdo a esto, es de gran importancia plantear alternativas de aprovechamiento activo, para contrarrestar la globalización mediante el mejoramiento continuo dándole paso al avance tecnológico con el propósito de ser cada día mas competitivo ante la disminución de desperdicios de recursos materiales, humanos y energéticos. Tradicionalmente los métodos de mantenimiento en las empresas se han fundamentado en dos tipos, conocidos como “correctivo” y “preventivo”, el primero consiste en intervenir solo cuando ocurre la falla y el segundo consiste en intervenir en periodos de tiempos preestablecidos. En virtud de esto y de la necesidad de encontrar estrategias que involucren un mejoramiento continuo en el gerenciamiento del mantenimiento dentro de la compañía, se plantea este trabajo como propuesta de solución mediante el diseño del programa de mantenimiento basado en la condición para los equipos de apoyo en la empresa Worldtex Caribe L.S.C. El método de mantenimiento basado en la condición consiste en intervenir a los equipos solo cuando una falla funcional es detectada, ya que los parámetros mecánicos y operacionales de los equipos son monitoreados permanentemente, es así que si se detecta un malfuncionamiento, se identifica la causa y se programa su intervención antes de que ocurra la falla catastrófica.Incluye anexos, bibliografí
