Harnessing synthetic gauge fields for maximally entangled state generation

We study the generation of entanglement between two species of neutral cold atoms living on an optical ring lattice, where each group of particles can be described by a dd-dimensional Hilbert space (quddit). Synthetic magnetic fields are exploited to create an entangled state between the pair of quddits. Maximally entangled eigenstates are found for well defined values of the Aharonov-Bohm phase, which are zero energy eigenstates of both the kinetic and interacting parts of the Bose-Hubbard Hamiltonian, making them quite exceptional and robust against certain non-perturbative fluctuations of the Hamiltonian. We propose a protocol to reach the maximally entangled state (MES) by starting from an initially prepared ground state. Also, an indirect method to detect the MES by measuring the current of the particles is proposed.Comment: 10 pages, 3 figure

En conclusión, 0.12% de AGA mejoró la conversión alimenticia y rentabilidad económica en la etapa de terminado, sugiriendo que el AGA podría mejorar la utilización del alimento al aumentar disponibilidad de aminoácidos y energía para crecimiento muscular, requiriéndose estudios adicionales para confirmar estos hallazgos y determinar su mecanismo de acciónThe objective of this study was to determine the effect of the addition of Guanidino Acetic Acid (GAA) in the diet of domestic turkeys during the growth (70-112 days) and finishing (113-154 days) phases, evaluating productive parameters, quality of meat, creatinine concentration, and economic profitability.48 turkeys of 35 days of age with an average weight of 1.1 kg were used, distributed in a completely randomized block design with four treatments: DBS (base diet without GAA), DB6 (base diet with 0.06% GAA), DB12 (base diet with 0.12% GAA) and DB16 (base diet with 0.16% GAA), four blocks and three repetitions. The results were analyzed by ANOVA and Tukey's test (P<0.05). There were no significant differences between treatments in final weight, average daily gain, consumption and feed conversion in both stages. However, greater weight gain was observed with 0.12% GAAr and better feed conversion with 0.16% GAA. Meat quality did not show differences in carcass yield, giblets and abdominal fat. Creatinine concentration tended to be lower with 0.06% GAA. The economic analysis showed that 0.12% GAA generated the highest profitability with live turkey. In conclusion, 0.12% GAA improved feed conversion and economic profitability in the finishing stage, suggesting that GAA could improve feed utilization by increasing availability of amino acids and energy for muscle growth, requiring additional studies to confirm these findings and determine its mechanism of actionTesi

The Environmental Attitudes and Behaviours of European Golf Tourists

    Get PDF
Environmental attitudes and behaviours have received relatively little attention in golf tourism, compared to other tourism research areas. Golf tourism provides products and services based on nature, and they should focus on the environment. Golf has become increasingly important in the development of European tourism within the last decade. Moreover, golf is one of the primary motivations for European tourists in the sports tourism sector. This study is based on a sample of 431 golf tourists, from different nationalities, who visit Andalusia, Spain. This research examines the relationship between environmental attitudes and behavioural intentions for three subsamples of European nationalities: British, German, and Spanish. This relationship was corroborated in the three subsamples. However, the national citizenship of European golf tourists was not a moderator effect on the relationship between environmental attitudes and behavioural intentions

Comparative of ballistocardiogram processing methods based on fiber specklegram sensors

    Get PDF
The ballistocardiogram (BCG) is a graphic representation of the movements of the body associated with cardiac activity. In this article, a 10-min BCG has been captured for ten different volunteers with a polymer optical fiber (POF) specklegram sensor. This transducer, which is composed of a charge-coupled device (CCD) camera, a laser emitting diode, and two meters of POF, allows capturing the BCG by analyzing how the induced speckle pattern changes over time. These changes are related to cardiac activity. Several processing methods have been compared to determine which method achieves the best performance: complex cepstrum, power of spectral density (PSD), Pam-Tompkins algorithm, wavelet, autocorrelation, Savitzky?Golay filter, mean absolute deviation, and Hilbert transform. Accuracy and resource consumption have been characterized and compared for these methods. Hilbert, PSD, and Savitzky-Golay exhibit both small errors and computational costs. This article describes a baseline for the main frequency determination of POF-based BCG signals in real-time.This work was supported by the Project PID2019-107270RB-C21 through MCIN/ AEI /10.13039/501100011033

This article deals with the media coverage of climate change and global warming in Spain by screening the presence of these two topics within El País, El Mundo and La Vanguardia from January 2000 until November 2014. Method. A comparative analysis of media and public agenda are completed using data coming from both the University of Colorado and Google Trends. Results. The Spanish press coverage follows a similar trend to the one described by the international Western newspapers, albeit one can also find some differentiating episodes. The main milestones were related with international political events, international agreements, scientific reports of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change and with the documentary An inconvenient truth. Discussion and Conclusions. The international agenda is setting the national agenda. The general context is returning a decline of the presence of climate change in newspapers, although there is growing empirical evidence about the environmental risk

Comparative study of the discriminating capacity of dna markers and their effectiveness in establishing genetic relationships in the genus tigridia

    Get PDF
Tigridia Jussieu is an endemic genus to Mexico and taxonomically difficult with limited information about its genetic variability. A diversity assessment conducted using different DNA markers as an inter simple sequence repeat (ISSR) and random amplified polymorphic DNA (RAPD) markers will be helpful in the establishment of a broad- based description for improved germplasm curation and the identification of germplasm for genome mapping and breeding of these species. Thus, the objective of this study was to characterize 15 wild species of Tigridia by using RAPD and ISSR molecular markers. This study was carried out in the laboratory of Plant Molecular Biology at the Faculty of Agricultural Sciences of the Universidad Autónoma del Estado de México between August and November of 2011. In this assay, 13 RAPD primers of 10, 15 and 20 b, and five ISSR primers of the anchored type (ASSR) of 17 b were used to assess the level of genetic variation among 15 wild species of Tigridia . With both markers there were 163 amplified bands of which 150 (92.02 %) were polymorphic. The RAPD primers of 10 b generated 12 specific bands with a polymorphism of 95.12 %, for 15 b primers those values were five and 82.93 %, and for 20 b primers eight and 94.59 %, respectively. The RAPD pooled primers presented a polymorphism of 90.76 %, the genetic distance (G D ) among the species ranged from 0.16 (between T. illecebrosa and T. huajuapanensis ) to 0.57 (between T. multiflora and T. augusta ). The ISSR primers showed more polymorphism(95.45 %) than RAPD primers. With ASSR primers the highest genetic association (G D = 0.89) was observed between T. mexicana ssp. mexicana and T. durangense , whereas the least related were T. vanhouttei spp. vanhouttei and T. multiflora (G D = 0.14). This study shows that 10 base random primers and 17 base anchored primers were more efficient to detect polymorphism and genetic differentiation among Tigridia species

Flow blurring atomization of Poly(ethylene oxide) solutions below the coil overlap concentration

Atomization of polymer solutions has important technological implications across many fields. Here, we investigated the atomization dynamics of diluted, polymer solutions using Flow Blurring (FB) technology. Aqueous solutions of poly(ethylene oxide) [PEO] of viscosity-averaged molecular weight in the range 100000 g/mol – 4000000 g/mol and varying concentrations were sprayed with a FB atomizer having an orifice diameter (D) of 700μm and a liquid feed-tube-to-orifice separation (H) of 100μm. The solutions belong to the dilute regime, where polymer coil overlap does not occur, that is φ= [Formula presented] <φcrit (Modesto-López, Pérez-Arjona, & Gañán-Calvo, 2019). Shear viscosity measurements indicated that the solutions had viscosities of the order of that of the solvent and exhibited a Newtonian-like behavior. However, during the atomization, and due to the relatively high shear stress induced in the atomizer, the solutions exhibit extensional rheology, which most likely arises from the stretching of the polymer chains in-flight. Although initially the atomization resulted in formation of filaments, these broke up into droplets at relatively short distances from the atomizer discharge orifice as elucidated by images from ultra-high speed videos. The phenomenon is in contrast with that observed in FB-based atomization of semi-diluted polymer solutions with concentrations larger than the polymer coil overlap concentration, c∗. FB atomization of the diluted solutions resulted in a decrease in droplet size with increasing the gas-to-liquid mass ratio (GLR). The approach herein aims at understanding the droplet formation dynamics of viscoelastic, polymer solutions with FB, for applications in large-scale synthesis of materialsMinisterio de Economía, Industria y Competitividad DPI2016-78887-C3-1-
