Very high voltage latching relay

Get PDF
Relay consists of high voltage reed switch actuated by rotating permanent magnet mounted on stepper motor shaft, with actuation assembly isolated from high voltage circuit. Unit can be modified for use as double pole or double pole double throw latching relay and can be used in either air or vacuum

Development of a simple, self-contained flight test data acquisition system

Get PDF
A low cost flight test data acquisition system, applicable to general aviation airplanes, was developed which meets criteria for doing longitudinal and lateral stability analysis. Th package consists of (1) a microprocessor controller and data acquisition module; (2) a transducer module; and (3) a power supply module. The system is easy to install and occupies space in the cabin or baggage compartment of the airplane. All transducers are contained in these modules except the total pressure tube, static pressure air temperature transducer, and control position transducers. The NASA-developed MMLE program was placed on a microcomputer on which all data reduction is done. The flight testing program undertaken proved both the flight testing hardware and the data reduction method to be applicable to the current field of general aviation airplanes

Competing redox reactions in Fe-containing AlO(OH) and Al2O 3 matrices: A combined investigation by Mössbauer, ESR spectroscopy and thermal analysis

Get PDF
The investigation of iron-doped AlO(OH)/Al2O3 systems revealed that the combined employment of Mössbauer and ESR spectroscopies together with thermal analysis yields meaningful data with complementary information. This mutual complementarity is based on the coexistence of Fe point defects with the corresponding aggregated FeOx species which has been observed even for very low Fe concentrations. Competing redox processes between the dopant, the AlOx matrix, and the gas atmosphere during the thermal treatment enable the generation of solid phases exhibiting specific chemical properties. The entire reaction process is influenced by a specific mechanical and thermal pre-treatment that affects predominantly oxydative processes in the matrix. A protecting influence of the matrix preventing further reductive attack of the Fe3+ Fe2+ ions by hydrogen has been established

Algebraic Properties of Qualitative Spatio-Temporal Calculi

Qualitative spatial and temporal reasoning is based on so-called qualitative calculi. Algebraic properties of these calculi have several implications on reasoning algorithms. But what exactly is a qualitative calculus? And to which extent do the qualitative calculi proposed meet these demands? The literature provides various answers to the first question but only few facts about the second. In this paper we identify the minimal requirements to binary spatio-temporal calculi and we discuss the relevance of the according axioms for representation and reasoning. We also analyze existing qualitative calculi and provide a classification involving different notions of a relation algebra.Comment: COSIT 2013 paper including supplementary materia

Response of the meso- and macro-zooplankton community to long-term environmental changes in the southern North Sea

Get PDF
Abstract The North Sea (NS) is changing rapidly. Temporal variations in fishing intensity and eutrophic conditions, along with the ongoing impact of climate change, act in synergy resulting in modifications in marine communities. Although zooplankton has been extensively investigated, studies often ignore the large-sized meso- and macro-zooplankton (>500 µm), including holoplankton and meroplankton taxa. Here, we examined changes in abundances and community structure of these organisms between 1975 and 2018, using univariate and multivariate analysis, at different taxonomic levels. Abrupt changes in the abundances of (sub)communities occurred during different time periods and resulted in a significant restructuration of the entire community in 2006. These changes were consistent with the regime shifts reported in the NS and were a consequence of the environmental pressures on the whole community or on specific subcommunities. In the long term, the community shifted from higher abundances of hydrozoans and holoplankton taxa to an increasing abundance of decapods. Furthermore, we reveal the environmental variables that most explain the variability in the community dynamics, highlighting the importance of temperature and top-down processes. Our study underlines the relevance of investigations at different taxonomic levels, which elucidates how distinct responses to environmental changes ultimately shape the entire community structure.</jats:p

Iron(III) Complexes on a Dendrimeric Basis and Various Amine Core Investigated by Mössbauer Spectroscopy

Get PDF
Dendrimers of various generations were synthesized by the divergent method. Starting from various amine cores (G(0a), G(0b), G(0c)) the generations were built by reaction of the amine with acrylnitrile followed by hydrogenation with DIBAL-H. Treatment with salicylaldehyde creates a fivefold coordination sphere for iron in the molecular periphery. The resulting multinuclear coordination compounds are investigated by Mossbauer spectroscopy
