    Cambio de uso de edificios industriales a edificios de viviendas

    En este se trata de aprovechar la situación de un solar de grandes dimensiones ubicado en primera línea de mar, el cual dispone de dos grandes naves independientes de las que intentaremos sacar el mayor provecho. Para ello, se ha realizado un levantamiento de planos del estado actual de las naves, gracias a las facilidades dadas por el departamento de Urbanismo de Mataró. A continuación se ha realizado a lo largo de estos meses el diseño del espacio interior del que disponemos para conseguir un aprovechamiento óptimo del mismo, de esta manera, finalemente se optó por trabajar con las dos naves del solar, a pesar de que al principio se pretendía diseñar sólo una de ellas. Tras varias reuniones con el tutor, al final hemos realizado tres tipologías diferentes de viviendas. En una de las naves encontramos siete viviendas tríplex, mientras que en la otra nave, disponemos de catorce dúplex, siete en planta baja y el resto en la segunda planta, todos ellos adaptados para ser habitados por un minusválido, ya sea total o parcialmente. Una vez concretado la distribución definitiva del solar y las viviendas creadas, se procedió a realizar el resto de trabajos gráficos, instalaciones, detalles y perspectivas. Para acabar de concretar aquellos aspectos que no se esclarecen en el trabajo gráfico, disponemos de esta memoria en la que se ha realizado una memoria descriptiva, constructiva y de justificación del cumplimiento de la normativa.     Quantum corrections to minimal surfaces with mixed three-form flux

    We obtain the ratio of semiclassical partition functions for the extension under mixed flux of the minimal surfaces subtending a circumference and a line in Euclidean AdS(3) x S-3 x T-4. We reduce the problem to the computation of a set of functional determinants. If the Ramond-Ramond flux does not vanish, we find that the contribution of the B-field is comprised in the conformal anomaly. In this case, we successively apply the Gel'fand-Yaglom method and the Abel-Plana formula to the flat-measure determinants. To cancel the resultant infrared divergences, we shift the regularization of the sum over half-integers depending on whether it corresponds to massive or massless fermionic modes. We show that the result is compatible with the zeta-function regularization approach. In the limit of pure Neveu-Schwarz-Neveu-Schwarz flux we argue that the computation trivializes. We extend the reasoning to other surfaces with the same behavior in this regime

    Positive unlab ele d learning for building recommender systems in a parliamentary setting

    Our goal is to learn about the political interests and preferences of Members of Parliament (MPs) by mining their parliamentary activity in order to develop a recommendation/filtering system to determine how relevant documents should be distributed among MPs. We propose the use of positive unlabeled learning to tackle this problem since we only have information about relevant documents (the interventions of each MP in debates) but not about irrelevant documents and so it is not possible to use standard binary classifiers which have been trained with positive and negative examples. Additionally, we have also developed a new positive unlabeled learning algorithm that compares favorably with: (a) a baseline approach which assumes that every intervention by any other MP is irrelevant; (b) another well-known positive unlabeled learning method; and (c) an approach based on information retrieval methods that matches documents and legislators’ representations.     APARICIÓN TEMPRANA DEL PATRÓN DE DOLOR CRÓNICO EN PACIENTES MUSCULOESQUELÉTICOS SUBAGUDOS

    The chronic pain pattern implies high levels of negative emotions, pain and perceived disability disability perceived. Up to date few studies have assessed when this chronic pain pattern appears. This study is aimed at exploring this issue. Methods: were evaluated  146 subjects with 4 weeks sick leave due to musculoskeletal diseases (MSDs) and 95 with Rheumatoid Arthritis (RA). All patients completed the following assessment instruments: the Sadness and Depression Questionnaire (CTD), Anxiety situations and responses. Inventory –Brief form- (ISRA-B), Health Assessment Questionnaire (HAQ), a visual analogy scale for intensity of pain and a likert type scale for the frequency of pain. The analyses included a comparison on the scores of the tests between patients on sick leave due to MD compared to RA patients. Descriptive and bivariate analyses were performed. Results: Patients on sick leave due to MD and RA patients reported similar perception of their disability, showing a high HAQ score mean. Patients on sick leave due to MD reported more perceived frequency and intensity of pain than RA patients. In relation to negative emotions, both groups reported similar high levels with some poorer levels for RA patients compared to patients on sick leave due to MD for cognitive, evaluation and life situations anxiety. Depression scores presented the same levels for both patients groups. Conclusions: Our study shows that patients with subacute pain/disability and chronic pain/disability report very similar pattern for negative emotions and perception of pain and disability, suggesting that these factors appear in an early stage and contributing to the transition from acute to chronic pain/disability.El patrón de dolor crónico implica altos niveles de emociones negativas, dolor y discapacidad percibida. Pocos estudios han evaluado el patrón de aparición del dolor crónico  y éste era nuestro objetivo. Método: fueron evaluados 146 participantes con 4 semanas la Baja Laboral por enfermedades musculoesqueléticas (DsMS) y 95 con artritis reumatoide (AR) mediante los siguientes instrumentos: el Cuestionario de Tristeza y Depresión (CTD), el  Inventario de Situaciones y Respuestas de Ansiedad–forma breve-. (ISRA-B), Cuestionario de Evaluación de Salud (HAQ), una escala analógica visual para la intensidad del dolor y una escala tipo Likert para la frecuencia del dolor. Los análisis (descriptivos y bivariados) incluyeron una comparación de las puntuaciones de las pruebas entre los pacientes con baja laboral por EM en comparación con los pacientes con AR.  Resultados: Los pacientes con Baja Laboral por enfermedades musculoesqueléticas y los pacientes con AR informaron de una percepción similarde su discapacidad, según el HAQ. Pacientes con Baja Laboral por enfermedades musculoesqueléticas informaron mayor frecuencia percibida y más intensidad de dolor que los pacientes con AR. En relación a las emociones negativas, ambos grupos presentaron niveles altos y similares, con algunos niveles más pobres de los pacientes con AR en comparación con Pacientes con Baja Laboral por enfermedades musculoesqueléticas para la ansiedad cognitiva, la ansiedad de evaluación y la de la vida cotidiana (en  ISRA-B). Las puntuaciones en depresión presentan los mismos niveles en ambos grupos de pacientes.Conclusión. Nuestro estudio muestra que los pacientes con dolor subagudo/discapacidad y dolor crónico/discapacidad reportan un patrón muy similar para las emociones negativas y la percepción del dolor y la discapacidad, lo que sugiere que estos factores aparecen en una etapa temprana y favorecen, por tanto, la transición de dolor agudo a crónico/discapacidad

    La Comisaría y Delegación de Excavaciones Arqueológicas en las islas de El Hierro y La Gomera (1944-1970)

    Los trabajos de la Comisaría-Delegación de Excavaciones Arqueológicas en La Gomera y El Hierro fueron muy escasos en comparación con otras zonas y, además, se concentraron en la etapa 1944-1960, caracterizada por un marcado positivismo con notables deficiencias metodológicas. Las causas de esa carencia fueron las difíciles comunicaciones y los pocos medios de que disponía de la Comisaría. Cuando en la década de 1960 empezaron a solucionarse esos problemas, estas islas quedaron totalmente relegadas, porque las predilecciones del delegado eran otras y ningún otro investigador se interesó por ellas.The work of the Comisaría-Delegación de Excavaciones Arqueológicas in La Gomera and El Hierro was limited in comparison with other areas, and was concentrated in the period 1944-1960 of a marked positivism with methodological deficiencies. The reasons were the difficult communications and the lack of resources of the Comisaría. When the problems started to be solved in the sixties, these islands were totally pushed into the background, because the Commissioners interest were somewhere else and no other investigator took an interest in them

    Threshold Learning Dynamics in Social Networks

    Social learning is defined as the ability of a population to aggregate information, a process which must crucially depend on the mechanisms of social interaction. Consumers choosing which product to buy, or voters deciding which option to take with respect to an important issue, typically confront external signals to the information gathered from their contacts. Economic models typically predict that correct social learning occurs in large populations unless some individuals display unbounded influence. We challenge this conclusion by showing that an intuitive threshold process of individual adjustment does not always lead to such social learning. We find, specifically, that three generic regimes exist separated by sharp discontinuous transitions. And only in one of them, where the threshold is within a suitable intermediate range, the population learns the correct information. In the other two, where the threshold is either too high or too low, the system either freezes or enters into persistent flux, respectively. These regimes are generally observed in different social networks (both complex or regular), but limited interaction is found to promote correct learning by enlarging the parameter region where it occurs.This work is supported by MEC (Spain) through project FISICOS (FIS2007-60327).     Design and Development of a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) with Open Source Tools for the Processing of Data Monitored in a Set of Photovoltaic (PV) Plants

    The objective of this work has been to implement an orderly, accessible, fast and space-saving storage system that allows the transfer to a Relational Database Management System (RDBMS) of all the data corresponding to the monitoring of a set of photovoltaic (PV) systems whose behaviour is to be analysed. The RDBMS consists of a series of linked databases, enabling all PV system information to be stored, and it is scalable so it can be expanded depending on the number of installations to be studied. The data recorded in the plants are found in a large number of very disaggregated files, and with different measured parameters, different formats, nomenclatures, or units of measurement, so the developed system is responsible for homogenising all the information for storage. For this purpose, a procedure has been developed to carry out the automatic transfer of all the data recorded in their corresponding databases. In addition, in this work, a web application called S·lar 2 has been developed to facilitate selective access to all the data once stored in the corresponding tables. This application, which is connected to the designed databases, allows the storage and management of the information coming from the PV plants, in order to determine, among other things, the operation mode of each of the components of these facilities. Using the data already organised, it has also been possible to establish a system for comparing the production of inverters within the same plant in order to have a tool that allows the quick and visual detection of possible deviations between them and thus detect malfunctions in any of the components.     Regulator of calcineurin 1 modulates vascular contractility and stiffness through the upregulation of COX-2-derived prostanoids

    Cyclooxygenase-2 (COX-2) derived-prostanoids participate in the altered vascular function and mechanical properties in cardiovascular diseases. We investigated whether regulator of calcineurin 1 (Rcan1) participates in vascular contractility and stiffness through the regulation of COX-2. For this, wild type (Rcan1+/+) and Rcan1-deficient (Rcan1-/-) mice untreated or treated with the COX-2 inhibitor rofecoxib were used. Vascular function and structure were analysed by myography. COX-2 and phospo-p65 expression were studied by western blotting and immunohistochemistry and TXA2 production by ELISA. We found that Rcan1 deficiency increases COX-2 and IL-6 expression and NF-κB activation in arteries and vascular smooth muscle cells (VSMC). Adenoviral-mediated re-expression of Rcan1.4 in Rcan1-/- VSMC normalized COX-2 expression. Phenylephrine-induced vasoconstrictor responses were greater in aorta from Rcan1-/- compared to Rcan1+/+ mice. This increased response were diminished by etoricoxib, furegrelate, SQ 29548, cyclosporine A and parthenolide, inhibitors of COX-2, TXA2 synthase, TP receptors, calcineurin and NF-κB, respectively. Endothelial removal and NOS inhibition increased phenylephrine responses only in Rcan1+/+ mice. TXA2 levels were greater in Rcan1-/- mice. In small mesenteric arteries, vascular function and structure were similar in both groups of mice; however, vessels from Rcan1-/- mice displayed an increase in vascular stiffness that was diminished by rofecoxib. In conclusion, our results suggest that Rcan1 might act as endogenous negative modulator of COX-2 expression and activity by inhibiting calcineurin and NF-kB pathways to maintain normal contractility and vascular stiffness in aorta and small mesenteric arteries, respectively.     Selective Inhibition of Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor–mediated Angiogenesis by Cyclosporin A: Roles of the Nuclear Factor of Activated T Cells and Cyclooxygenase 2

    Cyclosporin A (CsA) is an immunosuppressive drug that inhibits the activity of transcription factors of the nuclear factor of activated T cells (NFAT) family, interfering with the induction of cytokines and other inducible genes required for the immune response. Here we show that CsA inhibits migration of primary endothelial cells and angiogenesis induced by vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF); this effect appears to be mediated through the inhibition of cyclooxygenase (Cox)-2, the transcription of which is activated by VEGF in primary endothelial cells. Consistent with this, we show that the induction of Cox-2 gene expression by VEGF requires NFAT activation. Most important, the CsA-mediated inhibition of angiogenesis both in vitro and in vivo was comparable to the Cox-2 inhibitor NS-398, and reversed by prostaglandin E2. Furthermore, the in vivo corneal angiogenesis induced by VEGF, but not by basic fibroblast growth factor, was selectively inhibited in mice treated with CsA systemically. These findings involve NFAT in the regulation of Cox-2 in endothelial cells, point to a role for this transcription factor in angiogenesis, and may provide a novel mechanism underlying the beneficial effects of CsA in angiogenesis-related diseases such as rheumatoid arthritis and psoriasis.This work was supported by grant PM99-0116 from Ministerio de Educación y Cultura (MEC-DGES) of Spain (to J.M.
