Disc Displacement with Intermittent Lock: A Case Series of a Rarely-addressed Disorder
Aim: We describe a series of five cases presented with disc displacement with reduction and intermittent lock (DDwRIL), from presentation to follow-up. Background: Disc displacement with reduction with intermittent lock is a temporomandibular disorder in which the disc is displaced and reduced, along with temporary locking leading to limited opening. Due to the fact that it has only been recognized as a separate disease in 2013, there is no clear guideline on the management of these cases. Cases descriptions: We present five cases of clinically established DDwRIL in different age groups. We walk through clinical presentation and diagnostic workup. Several modalities were used in the management of described cases from noninterventional management with counselling only to physical and splint therapies. Conclusion: Disc displacement with reduction, with intermittent locking is a challenging temporomandibular disorder with risk to progress into disc displacement without reduction and hence necessitates a tailored approach and long-term follow-up. Clinical significance: To our knowledge, this is the first case series reported on DDwRIL which provides detailed clinical presentation, examination, management, and discussion for orofacial pain practitioners as well as for future studies on this disease
Survey of the physico-chemical quality of the wastewaters of Biskra city rejected in Chabat Roba, Messdour and Wadi Z'ommor (Algeria)
The wastewaters of the agglomeration of Biskra (Southeast Algeria) are poured without treatment in three main dismissals that are Chabat Roba (1st site), Messdour (2nd site) and Wadi Z'ommor (3rd site). The pollution charge determined in the 1st site is the order of 157.76 ± 34.14 mg/L of O2 for the BOD5 (Biochemical Oxygen Demand in 5 days) of 457 ± 73.59 mg/L of O2 for the COD (Chemical Oxygen Demand) and 1109 ± 110.56 mg/L for the TSS (Total suspended Solids). In the 2nd site, the polluting charge is in average of 156 ± 29.72 mg/L of 'O2 for the BOD5, 430.76 ± 29.81 mg/L of O2 for the COD and 1157.92 ± 76 mg/L of O2 for the TSS. The 3rd site, the polluting charge is represented by 152.92 ± 27.76 mg/L of O2 of BOD5, 381.69 ± 70.03 mg/L of O2 of COD and by 1039 ±106.65 mg/L of O2 of TSS. The follow-up of these parameters in the three sites puts in evidence instability of the organic charge during seasons. The COD/BOD5 report equal 3 for the 1st site, this elevated value, watch that these waters are characterized by an inorganic pollution probably due to the industrial origin. With regard to the 2nd and 3rd sites, the COD/BOD5 report is between 3 and 2.5 for the first and between 2 and 2.50 for the second. The results defined the urban nature of the rejection poured in these sites.Key words: Wastewaters, Biskra, COD/BOD5 report, pollution charge, TSS
A Proposal of Standardised Data Model for Cloud Manufacturing Collaborative Networks
[EN] The growing amount of data to be handled by collaborative networks raises the need of introducing innovative solutions to fulfil the lack of affordable tools, especially for Small and Medium-Sized Enterprises, to manage and exchange data. The European H2020 Project Cloud Collaborative Manufacturing Networks develops and offers a structured data model, called Standardised Tables, as an organised framework to jointly work with existing databases to manage big data collected from different industries belonging to the CNs. The information of the Standardised Tables will be mainly used with optimisation and collaboration purposes. The paper describes an application of the Standardised Tables in one of the pilots of the aforementioned project, the automotive industry pilot, for solving the collaborative problem of a Materials Requirement Plan. The research leading to these results is in the frame of the âCloud Collaborative Manufacturing Networksâ (C2NET) project, which has received funding from the European Unionâs Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement

Molecular markers as a prognostic system for hepatocellular carcinoma
AbstractThe gene expression profile p16, c-erbB-3 and bcl2 in hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) patients with and without associated HCV infection, was assessed. Forty-eight subjects were included in the study and divided equally into two groups: HCC with and without HCV associated infection. Adjacent paracancerous tissues were assessed as control samples. Correlations with various clinico-pathological parameters of the tumour were assessed: stage, grade, and tumour size. The c-erbB-3 oncogene was expressed in 83.33% (40/48) of the total HCC sample and in 31.25% (15/48) of the noncancerous lesions. C-erbB-3 was expressed in 87.5% (21/24) of the HCC cases with associated HCV infection and in 79.16% (19/24) of the HCC cases without associated HCV infection. Gene expression of c-erbB-3 was significantly correlated with the clinico-pathological parameters of the tumour. P16 gene expression was found in 12.5% (6/48) of the total HCC sample and in 25% (12/48) of the para-cancerous lesions. P16 was expressed in 12.5% (3/24) of HCC cases with and without associated HCV infection. Gene expression of p16 exhibited significant negative correlation with clinico-pathological parameters of the tumour. Bcl2 gene expression was found in 20.8% (10/48) of the total HCC sample and in the para-cancerous lesions. Bcl2 was expressed in 20.8% (5/24) of the HCC cases with and without HCV associated infection. Gene expression of bcl2 did not show significant correlations with the clinico-pathological parameters of the tumour. In conclusion, gene expression profiles of p16 and c-erbB-3 could be used as prognostic molecular markers in HCC
Acute intestinal obstruction revealing synchronous gastrointestinal stromal tumors in a small bowel diverticulum and mucinous adenocarcinoma of the colon: a case report
Gastrointestinalstromal tumors are rare neoplasms and represent 0,1% to 3% of all gastrointestinal cancers. They are the most frequent mesenchymal neoplasms of the gastrointestinal tract with a malignant potential and unpredictable behavior. The synchronous association with other primary gastrointestinal carcinoma has been rarely reported in the literature with increasing number in the last ten years. The associated Gastrointestinalstromal tumor is usually discovered incidentally during surgery for carcinoma. The limited number of these cases cannot confirm the existence of a common factor in tumorigenesis of these different tumors and other studies are needed to clarify the possible association. We report the first case in the literature of synchronous primary Gastrointestinalstromal tumors developed in small bowel diverticulum and mucinousadenocarcinoma of the colon. Measurement invariance of the kidney disease and quality of life instrument (KDQOL-SF) across Veterans and non-Veterans

Abstract

Background

Studies have demonstrated that perceived health-related quality of life (HRQOL) of patients receiving hemodialysis is significantly impaired. Since HRQOL outcome data are often used to compare groups to determine health care effectiveness it is imperative that measures of HRQOL are valid. However, valid HRQOL comparisons between groups can only be made if instrument invariance is demonstrated. The Kidney Disease Quality of Life-Short Form (KDQOL-SF) is a widely used HRQOL measure for patients with chronic kidney disease (CKD) however, it has not been validated in the Veteran population. Therefore, the purpose of this study was to examine the measurement invariance of the KDQOL-SF across Veterans and non-Veterans with CKD.

Methods

Data for this study were from two large prospective observational studies of patients receiving hemodialysis: 1) Veteran End-Stage Renal Disease Study (VETERAN) (N = 314) and 2) Dialysis Outcomes and Practice Patterns Study (DOPPS) (N = 3,300). Health-related quality of life was measured with the KDQOL-SF, which consists of the SF-36 and the Kidney Disease Component Summary (KDCS). Single-group confirmatory factor analysis was used to evaluate the goodness-of-fit of the hypothesized measurement model for responses to the subscales of the KDCS and SF-36 instruments when analyzed together; and given acceptable goodness-of-fit in each group, multigroup CFA was used to compare the structure of this factor model in the two samples. Pattern of factor loadings (configural invariance), the magnitude of factor loadings (metric invariance), and the magnitude of item intercepts (scalar invariance) were assessed as well as the degree to which factors have the same variances, covariances, and means across groups (structural invariance).

Results

CFA demonstrated that the hypothesized two-factor model (KDCS and SF-36) fit the data of both the Veteran and DOPPS samples well, supporting configural invariance. Multigroup CFA results concerning metric and scalar invariance suggested partial strict invariance for the SF-36, but only weak invariance for the KDCS. Structural invariance was not supported.

Conclusions

Results suggest that Veterans may interpret the KDQOL-SF differently than non-Veterans. Further evaluation of measurement invariance of the KDQOL-SF between Veterans and non-Veterans is needed using large, randomly selected samples before comparisons between these two groups using the KDQOL-SF can be done reliably.</p
Empirically modelled Pc3 activity based on solar wind parameters
It is known that under certain solar wind (SW)/interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) conditions (e.g. high SW speed, low cone angle) the occurrence of ground-level Pc3â4 pulsations is more likely. In this paper we demonstrate that in the event of anomalously low SW particle density, Pc3 activity is extremely low regardless of otherwise favourable SW speed and cone angle. We re-investigate the SW control of Pc3 pulsation activity through a statistical analysis and two empirical models with emphasis on the influence of SW density on Pc3 activity. We utilise SW and IMF measurements from the OMNI project and ground-based magnetometer measurements from the MM100 array to relate SW and IMF measurements to the occurrence of Pc3 activity. Multiple linear regression and artificial neural network models are used in iterative processes in order to identify sets of SW-based input parameters, which optimally reproduce a set of Pc3 activity data. The inclusion of SW density in the parameter set significantly improves the models. Not only the density itself, but other density related parameters, such as the dynamic pressure of the SW, or the standoff distance of the magnetopause work equally well in the model. The disappearance of Pc3s during low-density events can have at least four reasons according to the existing upstream wave theory: 1. Pausing the ion-cyclotron resonance that generates the upstream ultra low frequency waves in the absence of protons, 2. Weakening of the bow shock that implies less efficient reflection, 3. The SW becomes sub-AlfvĂ©nic and hence it is not able to sweep back the waves propagating upstream with the AlfvĂ©n-speed, and 4. The increase of the standoff distance of the magnetopause (and of the bow shock). Although the models cannot account for the lack of Pc3s during intervals when the SW density is extremely low, the resulting sets of optimal model inputs support the generation of mid latitude Pc3 activity predominantly through upstream waves

The test was conducted in a grouth chamber where temperature and photoperiod were controlled. Seeds were put to germinate in tubes test with a gelose middle (Agar + water). Six concentrations of NaCl were tested. Results showed that there is not significant difference of germination between the witness and NaCl concentrations of 1 g/l, 3 g/l and 5 g/l. A significant difference has been found between the witness and the germination of almonds to concentrations of NaCl to 7 g/l and 9 g/l. The emergence of the stem axis follows the same evolution. With regard to the growth, measures of lengths of the main root and the stem axis showed a significant difference for the all concentrations tested. The statistical analysis to 5% showed that there is a significant effect of salt on the production of the aerial and root biomass.
