Semisolid metal (SSM) processing, as a kind of new technology that exploits forming of alloys between solidus and liquidus temperatures, has attracted great attention from investigators for its thixotropic behaviour as well as having advantages in reducing porosity, macrosegregation, and forming forces during shaping process. Various techniques are employed to produce feedstock with fine globular microstructures, and direct thermal method is one of them. In this paper, the effect from different pouring temperatures and holding times using a direct thermal method on microstructure and hardness of aluminium alloy 6061 is presented. Molten aluminium alloy 6061 was poured into a cylindrical copper mould and cooled down to the semisolid temperature before being quenched in water at room temperature. The effect of different pouring temperatures of 660 °C, 680 °C, 700 °C, and holding time of 20 s, and 60 s on the microstructure of aluminium alloy 6061 were investigated. From the micrographs, it was found that the most globular structures were achieved at processing parameters of 660 °C pouring temperature and 60 s holding time. The highest density and hardness of the samples were found at the same processing parameters. It can be concluded that the most spheroidal microstructure, the highest density, and the hardness were recorded at lower pouring temperature and longer holding time

Nuclear industry have increasing demand from the world because its advantages towards us. It can generate larger scale of energy using little material. However there is certain awareness to us.In 2011 Fukushima Daiichi nuclear incident happen in Japan because of tsunami giving a major damage towards environment and people it is the worst incident since Chernobyl. It give a lot damage and the land unliable for decades. Then, power plants radioactive waste radiation to environment. There are few incident related to radioactive waste and it is real life threat. These materials can be harmful to environment for decades to come. Radiography is a non-destructive method used by most industry to discover the structural properties of material or to check for any defect in the material that can cause a failure in the process. The type of radiation used by the industry for radiography technique is ionizing radiation such as x-ray and gamma radiation, it is a strong radiation source. Working with such   a dangerous radiation need some decent skills and protection to avoid any radiation exposure to the worker that will result in some serious health condition. Not only it can affect the worker, if it is handled recklessly, it can degrade the quality of the final product and causing pollution to environment. Therefore, an extreme safeguarding and professionalism is required for the radiation worker. In this review, will looked for the safety guidelines to improve the safety to environment and human in nuclear industry and will be focusing on the common radiation protection and procedure that has been implemented in industrial radiograph

    Get PDF
It is a big challenge for Malaysian healthcare authorities in providing services to rural communities. To meet up with the challenges, a concept called business intelligence (BI) is employed for their informed decision-making that utilizes their enormous data. However, only a few of BI initiatives have their success stories as many are still struggling to justify the investments. Among the most reason of the failures were that BI requirements were overlooked, leading to poor BI deployments. Taking rural healthcare in Malaysia as a case study, the paper attempts to model BI requirements using goal-oriented approach. Rural healthcare BI requirements were modelled two-folds: (1) decision making requirements, cantered on stakeholders; and (2) BI data requirements, focused on organizational and decisional aspects. The model can guide BI developers on the process and data needed in rural healthcare strategic decision-making. Theoretically it provides new insights and facilitates the improvement of new healthcare knowledge

The utilization of thermal energy storage in the thermal absorber applications has been increasingly important especially in the application where there is a mismatch between energy demand and energy supply. This technology implies that the heat is stored during charging or discharging process through melting and freezing of the thermal energy storage material so that it can be used in the future. This paper presents the outcome of the experimental investigation on the performance of cross-matrix absorber (CMA) utilizing paraffin as the thermal energy storage material. Experiments were carried out by exposing the CMA under different artificial solar radiation (300 W/m2, 500 W/m2, 700 W/m2 and 900 W/m2) for 30 minutes followed by 30 minutes of discharging process. Based on the observation, it was found that smaller mass flow rate value of 0.005 kg/s gave the highest temperature output regardless of the intensity of solar radiation as compared to the other after 30 minutes of charging process. In terms of heat gain by the thermal absorber, it was concluded that the highest mass flow rate of 0.01 kg/s passing through the absorber lead to the higher heat gain by the CMA, hence prolonged the cooling down / discharging period as shows by the result, where case with maximum mass flow rate (0.01 kg/s) consistently contributed to the higher heat gain by the absorber. This feature is very useful in the solar thermal collector related applications such as crop drying and domestic building heating. The heat gain by the absorber is also contributed by the intensity of the solar radiation
