This article presents an experience of an interdisciplinary group crossed by three principal axes : the psychoanalytical field, the socio-cultural and political field, and human sciences research. This adventure led researchers and intervening persons from twenty disciplines to realize projects which are the forms and the means of reappropriation of their own subjective history by their intervention in certain sectors of development of their region. These projects pair research and intervention in the areas of mental health, art and culture. The members of the group give themselves the means to guarantee the viability of these projects in a position of relative independence in relation to traditional institutions

The rapid development of technology brings great influence to the world of information at this time. Communications, information management becomes easier to do. Use of the website has been much enjoyed by all people, and the organization is one of the means to interact or obtain information easily. This convenience is required by educational institutions, which certainly can’t be separated in the management of data and information. Alumni role is crucial to the development of an educational institution. Value and quality of an educational institution is reflected through the alumni. Empowerment good alumni, alumni association which both indirectly enhance the good image of the alma mater of the general public. Similarly, the involvement of alumni in exchanging information among alumni, also at an educational institution such as a university to be one important factor for the development of the university. Adventist University of Indonesia need an information system to assist the tracking of alumni and alumni data management to be information that is needed. The purpose of this study there were 4: 1) Simplify tracking of alumni by providing web-based information systems. 2) Assist the management of data into the information needed. 3) Provide a system that can be used to distribute information such as upcoming events, job opportunities, and create an online vote to simplify the alumni in decision making in the organization. 4) Helping alumni who are away from campus to get a diploma and transcripts legalized easier. The methodology that is used in writing is the SLDC method (System Development Life Cycle). This application is expected to help the alumni and the university for tracking alumni, alumni data management, and also in the presentation and get information

The effect of semi-natural habitats on aphids and their natural enemies across spatial and temporal scales

Semi-natural habitats in agricultural landscapes are generally assumed to enhance the biological control of insect pests based on native beneficial insects, by providing alternative prey and hosts, resources and refuges for overwintering. We hypothesized that natural enemies of winter wheat aphids should arrive sooner in fields near semi-natural habitats. We compared aphid, hoverfly (larvae and eggs) and parasitized aphid (mummies) abundances in 54 winter wheat fields located in southern France from 2003 to 2007. Six surveys were recorded each spring and were split into the early period (defined as the period before the peak of aphid growth) and the late period (after the peak). The wheat fields differed by their surrounding landscape composition measured as the proportion of semi-natural habitats (woods, hedges and grasslands), at three different spatial scales: 200 m, 500 m, and 1200 m. Despite great variability in abundance data between years, the abundance of hoverflies appeared more sensitive to landscape composition than aphid abundance was. Early abundance for both aphids and hoverflies was positively related to wood cover, but not late abundance in spring. The abundance of hoverflies was positively related to hedge and grassland cover at all spatial scales and both periods considered. Aphid parasitism was higher near hedges at the small spatial scale late in the spring. Our results confirmed that higher proportions of semi-natural habitats in agricultural landscapes enhance the biological control of pests, but this effect depends on the spatial scale, the time period in the spring and the natural enemies considered

This is our annual "station report" of activities related to controlled environment research to the North Central Education Research Activity (NCERA-101) committee. The committee is sponsored the USDA National Institute for Food and Agriculture (NIFA). Kennedy Space Center has participated in this committee for over 30 years

Antibacterial and Antioxidant Properties of the Methanolic Extract of the Stem Bark of Pteleopsis hylodendron (Combretaceae)

Pteleopsis hylodendron (Combretaceae) is used in Cameroon and West Africa folk medicine for the treatment of various microbial infections (measles, chickenpox, and sexually transmitted diseases). The antibacterial properties of the methanolic extract and fractions from stem bark of Pteleopsis hylodendron were tested against three Gram-positive bacteria and eight Gram-negative bacteria using Agar-well diffusion and Broth microdilution methods. Antioxidant activities of the crude extract and fractions were investigated by DPPH radical scavenging activity and β-carotene-linoleic acid assays. The methanolic extract and some fractions exhibited antibacterial activities that varied between the bacterial species (ID = 0.00–25.00 mm; MIC = 781–12500 μg/mL and 0.24–1000 μg/mL). The activity of the crude extract is, however, very weak compared to the reference antibiotics (MIC = 0.125–128 μg/mL). Two fractions (FE and FF) showed significant activity (MIC = 0.97 μg/mL) while S. aureus ATCC 25922 was almost resistant to all the tested fractions. In addition, the crude extract and some fractions showed good antioxidant potential with inhibition values ranging from 17.53 to 98.79%. These results provide promising baseline information for the potential use of this plant as well as some of the fractions in the treatment of infectious diseases and oxidative stress
