Estimating Transmission Loss of Muffler having Two Inlets and Two Outlets

    Get PDF
Predicting the acoustics behavior of the exhaust muffler before a prototype model built can save the both substantial amount of time and resources. There are various simulation tools available now a day which can predict the acoustics performance of the muffler. In order to use these tools effectively, it is very important to understand what is the most effective tool for the intended purpose of analysis. as well as how the various elements in the exhaust muffler affects the muffler performance. This thesis presents how transmission loss for various muffler configuration can be determined through analytical and FEA methods. As extant literature is primarily dedicated to single inlet single outlet exhaust muffler, this work includes acoustics analysis of simple expansion chamber with two inlets one outlet, two inlets two outlets on each end face. Which gave us the advantage of decreasing backpressure. There are both analytical and FEA method used for each muffler configuration for determining transmission loss and the results are compared against each other. The analytical method used is impedance matrix method in which a global impedance matrix is derived in order to get transmission loss. The second and third methods used are the FEA using COMSOL Multiphysics and ANSYS15.0 which also gives the satisfactory result for all the configuration in order to understand which FEA tool is very well suited for predicting the transmission loss results are compared against each other and with analytical method. This thesis also includes the parametric analysis of single inlet single outlet in order to understood the effects of various elements on the muffler performanc

Shorea robusta is regarded as an important medicine in Ayurveda. S. robusta Gaertn. f. belongs to family Dipterocarpaceae, and traditionally, it is used to treat wounds, ulcers, leprosy, cough, gonorrhea, earache, and headache and many more. The use of different parts of this plant such as leaves, resin, and bark as a medicament for the treatment of various conditions is well documented in literature. It is the rich source of flavonoids, saponins, steroids, tannins, phenols, etc. mainly triterpenoids, which play the prominent role for their therapeutic potential in the drug. These compounds are believed to be responsible for the pharmacological activities of plant extract. The present review clarified the main active ingredients and pharmacological effects of S. robusta as a promising plant as a result of effectiveness and safety. Further studies should be carried out this plant to discover the unrevealed part of it which may serve for the welfare of humankind

Computer-aided Reverse Engineering for Rapid Replacement of Parts

Indigenous product development using conventional means involves a relatively long leadtime and cost, especially for replacing worn out and broken parts. This paper presentsmethodologies and technologies for computer-aided reverse engineering, illustrated by a reallifecase study of an aluminium alloy separator body of a hydraulic filter assembly for the specialarmy vehicle. It involved reconstruction of part geometry using 3-D scanning, materialidentification using spectrometry, casting process optimisation using simulation software, andfabrication of prototype and tooling using rapid prototyping systems. It was found that thefabrication of wax patterns directly from reverse-engineered CAD data in a suitable rapidprototyping system (such as thermojet), followed by conventional investment casting, gives areliable and economic route for rapid development of one-off intricate parts for the replacementpurpose

A Meta Analysis on Cardiac Vascular Disease with Obesity

Increasing evidence suggests that inflammatory and immunological factors present in the general population play a role in the pathogenesis of cardiovascular disease in RA. More than that, RA is treated with a wide range of drugs, many of which have the potential to alter cardiovascular function. Non-steroidal anti-inflammatory medicines (NSAIDs) have been linked to an increased risk, whereas some treatments, like methotrexate and TNF inhibitors, have been linked to a reduced risk. Cardiac catheterization is just one of several possible procedures that can be done on the heart. More than a million people in the United States get cardiac catheterization each year. [1] Any time a surgeon makes incisions into a patient, they must be ready for the possibility of complications, whether they arise from the patient or the surgery itself. Fortunately, the prevalence of these issues has decreased considerably in recent years thanks to developments in cardiac catheterization equipment, advances in the experience of the operators, and the introduction of novel methods. The term "cardiac catheterization" can refer to either a right heart or a left heart catheterization, or both. Depending on the patient\u27s condition, interventional cardiologists can do either diagnostic or therapeutic operations. The dangers and difficulties that can arise during a diagnostic cardiac catheterization are briefly discussed in this article

The ultrasonic velocity, density and viscosity of 1,4- dioxane with alkanols systems have been measured experimentally at 303.15 K over the frequency 3 M. Hz. From these three values, we have calculated thermodynamic and excess thermodynamic parameters such as adiabatic compressibility, deviation in adiabatic compressibility, molar volume excess molar volume, free length, excess free length, Viscosity, deviation in viscosity, internal pressure ,excess internal pressure, acoustic impedance, excess acoustic impedance, excess sound velocity, Rao,s constant, Wada constant, relaxation time and relaxation strength of binary liquid mixture to interpret the nature of the interactions taking place in the binary liquid mixtures. The results analyzed in the sight of molecular interaction between the components. The interaction resulting in the interstitial accommodation of 1, 4- dioxane into alkanols are the predominant factor over dipole-dipole interaction

Template free synthesis of PbS nanoparticles by sol-gel facile method under IR radiation at room temperature

Lead sulfide (PbS) nanoparticles have been synthesized from the precursor of lead nitrite tetrahydrate [Pb(NO3)2.4H2O] and thiourea [CH4 N2S] at room temperature by sol-gel method under the infrared (IR) irradiation. The synthesized PbS nanoparticles have been characterized by XRD, FE-SEM, UV-vis spectrophotometer, and FTIR. The dominant peak (200) in XRD pattern, microstructure and the absorption of PbS have been confirmed the formation of nanoparticles. The crystallite size of PbS nanoparticle has been observed to be 13 nm. The lattice constant

Abstract

Background

mRNA-Seq technology has revolutionized the field of transcriptomics for identification and quantification of gene transcripts not only at gene level but also at isoform level. Estimating the expression levels of transcript isoforms from mRNA-Seq data is a challenging problem due to the presence of constitutive exons.

Results

We propose a novel algorithm (IsoformEx) that employs weighted non-negative least squares estimation method to estimate the expression levels of transcript isoforms. Validations based on <it>in silico </it>simulation of mRNA-Seq and qRT-PCR experiments with real mRNA-Seq data showed that IsoformEx could accurately estimate transcript expression levels. In comparisons with published methods, the transcript expression levels estimated by IsoformEx showed higher correlation with known transcript expression levels from simulated mRNA-Seq data, and higher agreement with qRT-PCR measurements of specific transcripts for real mRNA-Seq data.

Conclusions

IsoformEx is a fast and accurate algorithm to estimate transcript expression levels and gene expression levels, which takes into account short exons and alternative exons with a weighting scheme. White-Light Emission from Annealed ZnO:Si Nanocomposite Thin Films

As grown ZnO:Si nanocomposites of different compositional ratios were fabricated by thermal evaporation techniques. These films were subjected to post deposition annealing under high vacuum at a temperature of 250Co\rm 250C^o for 90min. The photoluminescence (PL) spectra of annealed samples have shown marked improvements both in terms of intensity and broadening. For the first time in ZnO:Si nanocomposite films we see huge UV, red and orange peaks at 310, 570 and 640nm. Structural and Raman analysis show formation of a Zn-Si-O shell around ZnO nano clusters wherein on heating Zn2SiO4\rm Zn_2SiO_4 compound forms. The new emissions are due to Zn2SiO4\rm Zn_2SiO_4 which completes white light spectrum.Comment: 9 figure
