    The purpose of this action research is to find out: (1) the improvement of student learning achievement after the implementation of discovery learning and (2) the influence of student learning motivation after the implementation of discovery learning method. This study uses action research as many as three rounds. Each round consists of four stages: design, activity and observation, reflection and refinement. The subject of this study was the sixth grade students of the Gas Semester Blimbing II Elementary School, Paciran Subdistrict, Lamongan Regency, 2015/2016 Academic Year. Data obtained in the form of formative test results, observation sheets of teaching and learning activities. From the results of the data analysis concluded that student achievement has increased from cycle I to cycle III, namely, cycle I (58.33%), cycle II (75%), cycle III (91.33%)

    Using Social Interactive Writing for English Language Learners (SWELL) with Fairy Tales Videos in Teaching Writing

    This research aims to investigate whether the use of SWELL method with fairy tale videos improves the students’ writing ability and to find out which writing components mostly affected by the use of SWELL method. This research was conducted using a quasi-experimental design. The population of the research was the second grade students of SMPN 5 Marioriawa in academic year 2015/2016 which consisted of two classes (56 students). The sample was drawn using cluster random technique. The number of students in the class was 28 students. The research instrument used was writing test. The data obtained through the test were analyzed quantitatively by using 21.0 version of SPSS program. Based on the data analysis, the research findings reveals that there is a significant differentce of the students’ writing skill after being taught by using SWELL method. It is proved by the data that had been processed through SPSS program. The result showed that the mean score of students in experimental group was greater than the mean score in control group (85.03>67.180, with t-test value is lower than the probability value (0.000<0.05). It indicates that there is a significant improvement of students’ writing ability after the treatment.  The writing skill of the second grade students of SMPN 5 Maroriawa can be improved significantly by using SWELL method with fairy tale videos. For the writing components that mostly affected by SWELL method. For different aspects of writing, content, organization, vocabulary, language use and mechanic, vocabulary is the most affected by the use SWELL method. The highest score in term of vocabulary was 18 with the percentage 90 with the highest converted  score 87.55 categorized as very good categorization

    Dampak Kecanduan Game Online pada Remaja

    Penelitian ini dilatarbelakangi oleh kecanduan siswa di SMPN 2 Baubau dalam memainkan game online. Tujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui dampak dari kecanduan game onlinepada remaja. Metode penelitian menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif jenis studi kasus. Sumber data dalam penelitian ini adalah siswa di SMPN 2 Baubau, orang tua, teman sekelas subjek dan guru BK guna memperoleh informasi tentang dampak perilaku game online pada siswa. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa observasi, wawancara dan dokumnetasi. Hasil wawancara dengan responden kemudian dibandingkan dengan observasi, diolah, dianalisa dan disajukan dalam suatu kalimat yang bermakna. Hasil penelitian ini adalah (1) Meimbulkan efek ketagihan, (2) terisolir dengan lingkungan sekitar, dan (3) dampak psikis dan fisik. Dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa kecanduan bermain game online sangat berpengaruh pada sosial, psikis, dan fisik peserta didik. Kecanduaan game online membuat peserta didik lupa waktu, melalaikan tugas dan tanggungjawab, kurang interaksi sosial,emosi peserta didik menjadi tidak stabil, dan emosi mudah terpancing ketika tidak bisa mengalahkan tantangan yang dimainkannya. Dari segi fisik peserta didik mengalami beberapa cedera pada bagian tubuh seperti leher, punggung, tulang belakang, pergelangan tangan, dan juga mengalami penurunan berat badan akibat lupa makan

    This study examines the strategic analysis of the Faculty of Tarbiyah and Teacher Training (FATIK) in improving the reading ability of the Al-Qur’an at FATIK students. The main problems discussed are (1). What is the general description of the ability to read Al-Qur’an of FATIK students? (2). What is the FATIK strategy in improving students reading ability in Al-Qur’an? (3). What are the obstacles of the FATIK strategy in improving the ability to read the Al-Qur’an of students? This research is classified as a type of qualitative research. Data collection methods used were observation, in-depth interviews and documentation. Data analysis techniques used include data collection, data reduction, data presentation, and drawing conclusions / verification. Checking the validity of the data is done by triangulation techniques including source triangulation, technique triangulation, and time triangulation. The findings of this study show a general picture of the ability to read Al-Qur’an at FATIK students is not optimal with indicators of the ability to read the Al-Qur’an correctly based on the principles of recitation is still low. The FATIK strategy has not been able to optimally improve the ability to read Al-Qur’an of students. The indicator is the absence of lecturer synergy in improving the ability to read the Al-Qur’an of students, the FATIK strategy in improving the ability to read the Al-Qur’an is still incidental.Penelitian ini mengkaji tentang strategi Fakultas Tarbiyah dan Ilmu Keguruan (FATIK) dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca Al-Qur’an mahasiswa FATIK IAIN Kendari. Permasalahan pokok yang dibahas adalah (1). Bagaimana gambaran umum  kemampuan membaca   Al-Qur’an   mahasiswa FATIK IAIN Kendari ? (2). Bagaimana strategi FATIK dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca Al-Qur’an mahasiswa IAIN Kendari? (3). Bagaimana implikasi strategi FATIK dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca Al-Qur’an mahasiswa IAIN Kendari? Penelitian ini tergolong jenis penelitian kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data yang digunakan adalah observasi, wawancara mendalam dan dokumentasi. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan meliputi pengumpulan data, reduksi data, penyajian data, dan penarikan kesimpulan/verifikasi. Dan pengecekan keabsahan data dilakukan dengan teknik triangulasi meliputi triangulasi sumber, triangulasi teknik, dan triangulasi waktu. Hasil temuan penelitian ini menunjukkan gambaran umum kemampuan membaca Al-Qur’an mahasiswa FATIK belum maksimal dengan indikator kemampuan membaca Al-Qur’an secara benar berdasarkan kaidah tajwid masih kurang atau rendah. Strategi FATIK belum dapat meningkatkan kemampuan membaca Al-Qur’an mahasiswa IAIN Kendari secara maksimal.  Indikatornya adalah belum adanya sinergitas dosen dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca Al-Qur’an mahasiswa, strategi FATIK dalam meningkatkan kemampuan membaca Al-Qur’an masih bersifat insidental

    Teaching Writing with Authentic Video through SWELL Method for EFL Students

    This research with a quantitative method aims to examine whether the use of authentic videos is effective to improve students’ writing ability of third semester students at English Tadris Program. The population in this research were students at the third semester students at English Tadris Program and the sample was students of  TBI 1 and 2 with total sample of 56 students. In this research the researcher used a total sampling technique. And the data collection technique using test, namely pre-test and post-test. The technique of data analysis that the researcher used is the t-test. The results of the data analysis showed that t-count is and t-table (t-count 7.175  > t-table 1.184). It means the results of the research showed that there is a significant improvement of the students’ writing ability of  the third semester students’ writing skill after the use of authentic video through SWELL Method of third semester students at English Tadris Program. &nbsp

    Meningkatkan Kemampuan Bahasa dengan Mengenal Huruf Melalui Metode Permainan Kartu Huruf

    Dalam penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bahwa apakah dengan pengenalan huruf dengan metode permainan kartu huruf dapat mengembangkan kemampuan bahasa anak yang berada di TK Negeri Dharma Wanita Benteng. Adapun dalam kegiatan yang disebut dengan penelitian tindakan kelas yang difokuskan pada peserta didik kelompok B usia 5-6 tahun. Kegiatan yang dilakukan sebelum melakukan kegiatan pembelajaran adalah persiapan mengajar, persiapan perangkat pembelajaran, persiapan sarana dan prasarana. Data yang dikumpulkan berdasarkan analisis kompetensi dasar dan hasil observasi kegiatan belajar. Data dari kasus siklus pertama yaitu kemampuan bahasa anak hanya mencapai 40%. Hal ini berdasarkan hasil penilaian anak yang sebagian besar hanya mendapatkan nilai MB (mulai berkembang) dan BB (belum berkembang). Dan berkat menciptakan metode kreatif dalam bermain kartu huruf dapat meningkat sehingga pada siklus ketiga mencapai hampir 90%. Dan dari hasil penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa pengembangan kemampuan bahasa dalam pengenalan huruf melalui metode permainan kartu huruf anak usia 5-6 tahun dapat meningkat dari 40% naik mencapai hampir 90 %. Hal ini membuktikan bahwa dengan menciptakan metode yang kreatif dengan kartu huruf dapat meningkatkan kemampuan bahasa anak.Kata Kunci : Kemampuan Bahasa, Mengenal Huruf, Kartu Huru
