El presente ensayo afronta la cuestión de la relación entre espíritu y naturaleza en la filosofía clásica alemana, por medio del análisis de esta problemática en las principales figuras del idealismo alemán, de Kant a Schelling y de Fichte a Hegel. El autor busca hacer emerger la complejidad y la actualidad de las respectivas posiciones, confrontándolas recíprocamente para sacar a la luz sus diferencias y analogías, e insiste en la irreductibilidad del idealismo a una pura y simple metafísica de la subjetividad

The paper offers an analysis of the Sartrean interpretation of the French Revolution which is contained in the Critique of the Dialectical Reason. Focus of the study are such central notions as oath, group in fusion, sovereign nation, and the relationships between freedom, brotherhood and Terror. Lévi-Strauss’ criticism at Sartre’s hermeneutical proposal is mentioned together with Lacan’s idea of the anticipated temporality of action. Sartre’s interpretation of the Revolution is finally compared with the one that Hegel puts forward in the Fenomenology of Mind

El artículo propone líneas comparativas entre la obra Meditazione milanese de C. E. Gadda y algunas corrientes del pensamiento europeo de los siglos XIX y XX. Es de particular importancia la comparación con la tradición del Idealismo, desde Hegel a Bradley, respecto de la que surge, de forma evidente, la originalidad y la modernidad de la contribución filosófica de Gadda.The article focuses on the comparison between C.E. Gadda's Meditazione Milanese and some of the European thinking trends of the 19th and 20th century. Particularly important is the comparison with the idealism tradition, since Hegel to Bradley, from which evidently emerge the originality and modernity of Gadda's philosophical contribution

Controversies in Industrial Policy: The Creation of an Explicit U.S Industrial Policy

As the world continues to globalize the United States will need to adapt in its industrial policy programs in order to stay competitive. As of today the United States has no explicit programs to bolster particular industries to increase their performance but rather does so implicitly through Department of Defense innovations that spill over into the private sector. However we have seen such explicit policies in countries such as South Korea and China. There has been immense growth in the sectors that have been targeted by these programs and this has raised questions about if the United States should adopt an explicit industrial policy. This thesis uses previous research on clusters a new classification for Economic Areas to inform the development of a U.S tailored industrial policy. This thesis proposes an explicit U.S industrial policy that targets clusters geographic regions that include multiple related industries and the results are promising. By using current DOD spending (a measure of U.S industrial policy expenditure) patent registrations as a measure of innovation R&D expenditure and value added an accurate picture of what such a policy would do can be extrapolated. This thesis lays the groundwork for future research into this proposal because as more data become available statistical analyses will become more robust. If the U.S could capitalize on a program such as the one proposed in this thesis there could be potential gains in employment industry growth and innovation. In addition the U.S could see decreased income inequality if such a program is employed

From Environment to Genome and Back : a Lesson from HFE Mutations

The environment and the human genome are closely entangled and many genetic variations that occur in human populations are the result of adaptive selection to ancestral environmental (mainly dietary) conditions. However, the selected mutations may become maladaptive when environmental conditions change, thus becoming candidates for diseases. Hereditary hemochromatosis (HH) is a potentially lethal disease leading to iron accumulation mostly due to mutations in the HFE gene. Indeed, homozygosity for the C282Y HFE mutation is associated with the primary iron overload phenotype. However, both penetrance of the C282Y variant and the clinical manifestation of the disease are extremely variable, suggesting that other genetic, epigenetic and environmental factors play a role in the development of HH, as well as, and in its progression to end-stage liver diseases. Alcohol consumption and dietary habits may impact on the phenotypic expression of HFE-related hemochromatosis. Indeed, dietary components and bioactive molecules can affect iron status both directly by modulating its absorption during digestion and indirectly by the epigenetic modification of genes involved in its uptake, storage and recycling. Thus, the premise of this review is to discuss how environmental pressures led to the selection of HFE mutations and whether nutritional and lifestyle interventions may exert beneficial effects on HH outcomes and comorbidities

They help tourism to make traveler the protagonist of his travel and not just a spectator.In this paper, we are going to show an app which predicts a travel destination based on user’s mood and facial expressions to specifics visual and auditory trigger to encounter his reactions. This app uses different technology linked together to make this solution versatile and dynamic. It implements different technology modules to perform facial and mood analysis, capturing the image, store image and show all trigger to the user. By adopting this solution is possible to easily upgrade the app and each module can be changed with no large problem adapting it to the current version of the app

Ipoglicemia reattiva dopo bypass gastrico alla Roux-en-Y e gastrectomia verticale: tipizzazione della popolazione a rischio e meccanismi patogenetici. L'ipoglicemia reattiva post-prandiale è una delle complicanze più conosciute a seguito di intervento di bypass gastrico e di gastrectomia verticale. L'eziologia rimane non ancora chiarita completamente, ma è stato suggerito che essa si correli a marcati cambiamenti ormonali e nell'assorbimento intestinale del glucosio, derivanti dalla riorganizzazione anatomica. Poiché l'ipoglicemia reattiva iperinsulinemica può essere collegata principalmente alla disregolazione della funzionalità delle isole pancreatiche, il nostro obiettivo è stato quello di determinare meccanismi pre- o post-operatori che possano predire un rischio più elevato di ipoglicemia reattiva post-RYGB o SLG. Nel nostro studio l'ipoglicemia reattiva è stata definita come valore di glicemia plasmatica ≤3.3 mmol/L, in presenza di sintomi autonomici e/o neuroglicopenici che si risolvono con l'assunzione di carboidrati

Theoretical and Experimental Evaluation of Microchannel Condensers Applied to Household Refrigerators

The aim of this work is to study, theoretically and experimentally, the impact of using forced-draft microchannel condensers in a specific model of household refrigerator. To this end, a mathematical model was developed to predict the condenser heat released rate and the air-side pressure drop as a function of geometry and operating conditions. This model was then added to an existing simulation platform of household refrigerators, in an attempt to study the effect of the heat exchanger on the appliance performance. Experiments were carried out in an open-type wind tunnel and in a climate-controlled test chamber, to validate both the condenser and the system mathematical models. It has been found that the predictions of the condenser model for the heat transfer rate and air-side pressure drop were kept within ±10% and ±20% error bands, respectively. It has also been found that the appliance energy consumption was predicted with maximum errors of ±3.5%. An extensive sensitivity analysis was also carried out revealing a potential drop of 13% in energy consumption with the use of a 20 passes, 200mm high, 180mm wide, 72mm deep, 200 fins/meter and 46 rectangular ports microchannel condenser

The text focuses on offering an analysis of the Sartrean interpretation of the French Revolution which is contained in the Critique of Dialectical Reason. Because of that notions as oath, group in fusion, sovereign nation, freedom-terror or nihilation, that are all basic in the reading that the author of Being and Nothingness makes of this historical fact, become prominent in this essay and appear in it in a recurrent manner. Lévi-Strauss’ criticism at Sartre’s hermeneutical proposal on the Revolution is mentioned as well and this interpretation is finally compared with the one that Hegel puts forward in the Fenomenology of the Spirit.<br><br>El texto se centra en ofrecer un análisis de la interpretación sartreana de la Revolución Francesa contenida en Crítica de la razón dialéctica. Por ello nociones como las de juramento, grupo en fusión, nación soberana, libertad-terror o nadificación, fundamentales en la lectura que el autor de El ser y la nada realiza de este hecho histórico, adquieren protagonismo en este ensayo y aparecen en él de forma recurrente. Son mencionadas asimismo las críticas de Lévi-Strauss a la propuesta hermenéutica de Sartre acerca de la Revolución y se compara ésta con la expuesta por Hegel en la Fenomenología del Espíritu
