SELF CARE TRADITIONAL HERBAL THERAPY FOR PSORIASIS
Background: Psoriasis a skin ailment leading to frustration, stress and social isolation is a vital health problem to be addressed. Research in the area of herbal medicine and rejuvenation practice is based on the number of Random trials in the prevalence of a disease and a survey on the number of published in the journals indexed in the subject area.
Objective: To document successful casestudies and suggest the progressive herbal treatment plan carried out in Rajendra Herbal Research and training centre.
Methodology:In a survey of 1000 patients with reported skin problems undergoing traditional herbal and Ayurvedic treatment, 554 had scratchy itch related skin problems, 215 bite based blisters, 32 Hair related Allopecia, 47 White patch, 36 Black patch, 49 psoriasis and 67 patients had red rashes. The group had 518 males and 482 females. Five sets of skin patients were chosen for a cohort study with 0 to 70 years of age having151, 149, 149,154 &175nos.An experiment was designed to carryout a randomized double blind placebo controlled study in 140 psoriatic patients.
Results: Random survey of 1000 skin patients and cohort study of five sets of herbal respondents of agegroup 0-70 were tabulated.Out of the 140 treated Psoriatics, sixcase studies presented with the treatment plan followed at the Rajendra Herbal Research centresshowedsuccesstowards positive health.
Conclusion:In all the sets females out-numbered males with the prevalence of skin problems in 11 to 40 years of age. More females of the age group 41 to 50 ended up in Psoriatic arthritis and males with Diabetes. Rajendra supportive herbal therapy for Psoriasis promises social freedom and psychological harmony
Mycobacteriophage Genome Database
Mycobacteriophage genome database (MGDB) is an exclusive repository of the 64 completely sequenced mycobacteriophages with annotated information. It is a
comprehensive compilation of the various gene parameters captured from several databases pooled together to empower mycobacteriophage researchers. The
MGDB (Version No.1.0) comprises of 6086 genes from 64 mycobacteriophages classified into 72 families based on ACLAME database. Manual curation was
aided by information available from public databases which was enriched further by analysis. Its web interface allows browsing as well as querying the
classification. The main objective is to collect and organize the complexity inherent to mycobacteriophage protein classification in a rational way. The other
objective is to browse the existing and new genomes and describe their functional annotation
Evidence for transforming growth factor-beta 3 gene polymorphism in non-syndromic cleft lip and palate patients from indian sub-continent
Objectives: Orofacial clefts are major human birth defects with complex etiology. Previous studies have proposed Transforming growth factor - beta 3 (TGF-?3) gene as a key player in contributing to non-syndromic cleft lip and palate, however none of the studies have yet included Indian population. Hence this study was designed to detect TGF-?3 gene polymorphism in nonsyndromic cleft lip and palate patients from Indian population which is genetically distinct from previously studied populations. Study Design: Peripheral blood samples of forty non-syndromic cleft lip and palate patients and forty unaffected individuals were collected for a case - control study design. Ethical clearance from the institutional review board and informed consent from all subjects was obtained. DNA extracted from the cases and controls was amplified using polymerase chain reaction (PCR) with TGF-?3 specific primers. The obtained fragments were sequenced and TGF-?3 gene polymorphisms were assessed based on the number of CA repeats. Results: Chi -square test was used to compare the case and control groups. Results showed a significant difference in the number of CA repeats between the case and the control groups (p=0.01). Conclusion: This study confirms the crucial role of TGF-?3 in the fusion of palatal shelves during development and further, provides novel evidence of TGF-?3 gene polymorphism in the etiology of nonsyndromic cleft lip and palate in Indian subpopulation. © Medicina Oral S. Ornamental Chasmophytes of Urumbikkara Hills, Western Ghats Region of Idukki District, Kerala, India
The present study on the ornamental chasmophytes in the rocky habitats of Urumbikkara hills of Idukki district, Kerala reveals that, there are about 52 species of ornamental chasmophytic plants belonging to 46 genera and 29 families were collected because of their aesthetic value in both domestic and rock garden practices. These chasmophytes also possess certain biological peculiarities with different interesting adaptations and flower colour which can attract many people for making domestic or rock garden for ornamental purposes and psychological beneficial
Organizational factors and total quality management - an empirical study
The level of awareness of Total Quality Management (TQM) has increased considerably over the last few years. Different sets of organizational requirements are prescribed by quality management gurus and practitioners for the effective practice of TQM. These requirements do not seem to have been formulated on the basis of systematic empirical research. Many researchers point out that tacit factors, e.g. employee empowerment, open culture and executive commitment, and not TQM tools and techniques alone, could drive TQM success, and that organizations would need to acquire these factors to stay successful. Many TQM advocates have also suggested that a conducive organizational environment would be essential for an effective practice of TQM. However, they did not offer any empirical evidence. There appears to be no empirical study reported in the literature that could establish a relation between TQM and organizational factors. The objective of this paper is to describe an empirical research on TQM conducted in Indian business units carried out recently by considering some organizational factors, e.g. quality of work life, organizational climate and communication. The methodology and findings are discussed in detail
Test of Causal Nonlinear Quantum Mechanics by Ramsey Interferometry with a Trapped Ion
Quantum mechanics requires the time evolution of the wave function to be linear. While this feature has been associated with the preservation of causality, a consistent causal nonlinear theory was recently developed. Interestingly, this theory is unavoidably sensitive to the full physical spread of the wave function, rendering existing experimental tests for nonlinearities inapplicable. Here, using well-controlled motional superpositions of a trapped ion, we set a stringent limit of 5.4×10^{-12} on the magnitude of the unitless scaling factor ε[over ˜]_{γ} for the predicted causal nonlinear perturbation
Open Sea Floating Cage Farming of Lobsters Successful Demonstration by CMFRI off Kanyakumari Coast
Lobsters. a seafood item, are highly
relished throughout the world. In India,
lobsters are mostly available in rocky
" coastal habitats. Impacted by their
delicious taste, the demand for lobsters is
increasing at a fast rate in the national as
well as international markets
Appraisal of the Marine Fisheries of Kerala
Kerala, the southwestern part of the peninsular India, has
a narrow stretch of land with a long surf-beaten coast on the western
side and a lush green mountain range on the eastern side. The coastline
is 590 km long, which is almost one-tenth of the Indian coastline.
Marine fishing, using artisanal tackles like boat-seines, shore-seines and
Chinese dip nets, is an age-old tradition of the state. Mechanisation was
started in late fifties by the Indo-Norwegian Project, at first in the Quilon
area. The early sixties too saw an important technological development,
namely the shift from cotton to nylon nets. By mid-sixties, individual
entrepreneures entered the scene, paving way for a fast development
of trawl fishery in the coastal waters. Commercial purse-seining started
during late seventies, and the process of large-scale motorisation of
country crafts began in early eighties
