How Do Brazilian Street Youth Experience ‘The Street’?: Analysis Of A Sentence Completion Task
This study investigated how homeless Brazilian youth experience the street and examined factors linked to positive and negative feelings about the street. An opportunity sample of 35 boys and 34 girls aged 10–18 completed a structured interview and sentence completion task aimed at eliciting open-ended responses in a standardized manner. Analyses revealed great diversity in youths’ views of the street; moreover, in analyses controlling for age and gender, youth reporting feeling positive on the street differed from those who felt negative in reasons for leaving home, family situation and daily survival. The findings support the value of the sentence completion task in exploring the subjective experiences of street youth
Headache and pregnancy. a systematic review
This systematic review summarizes the existing data on headache and pregnancy with a scope on clinical headache phenotypes, treatment of headaches in pregnancy and effects of headache medications on the child during pregnancy and breastfeeding, headache related complications, and diagnostics of headache in pregnancy. Headache during pregnancy can be both primary and secondary, and in the last case can be a symptom of a life-threatening condition. The most common secondary headaches are stroke, cerebral venous thrombosis, subarachnoid hemorrhage, pituitary tumor, choriocarcinoma, eclampsia, preeclampsia, idiopathic intracranial hypertension, and reversible cerebral vasoconstriction syndrome. Migraine is a risk factor for pregnancy complications, particularly vascular events. Data regarding other primary headache conditions are still scarce. Early diagnostics of the disease manifested by headache is important for mother and fetus life. It is especially important to identify "red flag symptoms" suggesting that headache is a symptom of a serious disease. In order to exclude a secondary headache additional studies can be necessary: electroencephalography, ultrasound of the vessels of the head and neck, brain MRI and MR angiography with contrast ophthalmoscopy and lumbar puncture. During pregnancy and breastfeeding the preferred therapeutic strategy for the treatment of primary headaches should always be a non-pharmacological one. Treatment should not be postponed as an undermanaged headache can lead to stress, sleep deprivation, depression and poor nutritional intake that in turn can have negative consequences for both mother and baby. Therefore, if non-pharmacological interventions seem inadequate, a well-considered choice should be made concerning the use of medication, taking into account all the benefits and possible risks
Experimental study of greywater treatment through green walls
Among nature- based solutions (NBSs), green walls represent a key technology in the urban context because of the low energy demand and of the many ecological and social outcomes. This work presents the results of the experimental study at laboratory scale of the treatment of greywater (e.g. domestic wastewater excluding toilet flushes) through a green wall. It is made of two modular panels (1-set up for this study and 2-in use for 15 months), made of twelve pots arranged on four columns and three rows, and filled with a mix of coconut and perlite and different ornamental plant species. The green wall was fed discontinuously with 96 L/d of synthetic greywater for two months during the winter season. The treatment performances of the two panels were very high about total suspended solids (>87%), biological oxygen demand (>98%) and chemical oxygen demand (∼80%), in agreement with literature. Panel 1 exceeded the performances of panel 2 only about total suspended solids (96% vs 87%), probably because of a clogging phenomenon. This study proved the efficiency of green walls towards greywater treatment in challenging experimental conditions, as winter temperature and high hydraulic loading rate
The potential of lasmiditan in migraine
Lasmiditan, a highly selective 5-hydroxytryptamine receptor 1F (5-HT1F) agonist,
is the first drug in its class and is lacking triptan-like vasoactive properties. The US Food
and Drug Administration (FDA) has recently approved lasmiditan for the acute treatment of
migraine in adults based on positive results of two pivotal phase III trials, which showed a
significant difference to placebo in the proportion of patients achieving total migraine freedom
within 2h. More patients with lasmiditan achieved headache freedom and, in addition, freedom
from the most bothersome symptom, that is, photophobia, than with placebo. Treatmentrelated side effects seem to be related to the rapid penetration of the drug into the brain and
include dizziness, paresthesia and drowsiness, mostly of mild to moderate intensity. Interim
results from an ongoing long-term phase III trial suggest a decrease in the frequency of
adverse events after multiple lasmiditan use. Lasmiditan is a promising acute anti-migraine
therapy, in particular for patients with cardiovascular risk factors, contraindications, or
unwanted side effects to triptans
Turnover, account value and diversification of real traders: evidence of collective portfolio optimizing behavior
Despite the availability of very detailed data on financial market,
agent-based modeling is hindered by the lack of information about real trader
behavior. This makes it impossible to validate agent-based models, which are
thus reverse-engineering attempts. This work is a contribution to the building
of a set of stylized facts about the traders themselves. Using the client
database of Swissquote Bank SA, the largest on-line Swiss broker, we find
empirical relationships between turnover, account values and the number of
assets in which a trader is invested. A theory based on simple mean-variance
portfolio optimization that crucially includes variable transaction costs is
able to reproduce faithfully the observed behaviors. We finally argue that our
results bring into light the collective ability of a population to construct a
mean-variance portfolio that takes into account the structure of transaction

Dynamical instabilities in a simple minority game with discounting
We explore the effect of discounting and experimentation in a simple model of
interacting adaptive agents. Agents belong to either of two types and each has
to decide whether to participate a game or not, the game being profitable when
there is an excess of players of the other type. We find the emergence of large
fluctuations as a result of the onset of a dynamical instability which may
arise discontinuously (increasing the discount factor) or continuously
(decreasing the experimentation rate). The phase diagram is characterized in
detail and noise amplification close to a bifurcation point is identified as
the physical mechanism behind the instability.Comment: 8 page
Resonance and absorption spectra of the Schwarzschild black hole for massive scalar perturbations: a complex angular momentum analysis
We reexamine some aspects of scattering by a Schwarzschild black hole in the
framework of complex angular momentum techniques. More precisely, we consider,
for massive scalar perturbations, the high-energy behavior of the resonance
spectrum and of the absorption cross section by emphasizing analytically the
role of the mass. This is achieved (i) by deriving asymptotic expansions for
the Regge poles of the -matrix and then for the associated weakly damped
quasinormal frequencies and (ii) by taking into account the analytic structure
of the greybody factors which allows us to extract by resummation the physical

Turbidity and Other Effects Resulting from Trafalgar Sandbank Dredging and Palmar Beach Nourishment
Beach-nourishment requirements on the southwestern Spanish coast have led to a significant increase in offshore dredging. Following a new research line, assessment of changes recorded in physicochemical and biological parameters due to dredging and dumping operations was performed at the Cape of Trafalgar and Palmar Beach during June and July 2008. Turbidity, salinity, pH, dissolved oxygen, temperature, and suspended-sediment data were collected at 10 stations. At the end of the study, a three-campaign monitoring program was implemented for 1 year to assess the possible effects on biological communities and sediment properties. The relevant results, such as the average extent of the sediment plume (< 400 m) and its persistence in the environment (< 10 min), are discussed in this paper. A precise correlation between turbidity and suspended sediments and the recovery time of ecological balance were also established. Furthermore, minimal and reversible effects caused by dredging and dumping operations in this type of marine environment were identified
Design, status and perspective of the Mu2e crystal calorimeter
The Mu2e experiment at Fermilab will search for the charged lepton flavor
violating process of neutrino-less coherent conversion in the field
of an aluminum nucleus. Mu2e will reach a single event sensitivity of about
that corresponds to four orders of magnitude improvements
with respect to the current best limit. The detector system consists of a straw
tube tracker and a crystal calorimeter made of undoped CsI coupled with Silicon
Photomultipliers. The calorimeter was designed to be operable in a harsh
environment where about 10 krad/year will be delivered in the hottest region
and work in presence of 1 T magnetic field. The calorimeter role is to perform
/e separation to suppress cosmic muons mimiking the signal, while
providing a high level trigger and a seeding the track search in the tracker.
