There has been growth in globalization as a result of increased liberalization. This has also resulted in an increase in the role of financial institutions, such as banks. It is the purpose of this study to test Classen’s (2001) hypothesis that increase foreign bank presence has positive welfare implications and that the functioning of national banking markets are improved as a result. Internal and relative motions of the Taurus and Ophiuchus star-forming regions

We investigate the internal and relative motions of the Taurus and Ophiuchus star-forming regions using a sample of young stars with accurately measured radial velocities and proper motions. We find no evidence for expansion or contraction of the Taurus complex, but a clear indication for a global rotation, resulting in velocity gradients, this suggests a common origin, possibly related to that of Gould's Belt.Comment: 2 figure

Identification and functional analysis of novel phosphorylation sites in the RNA surveillance protein Upf1.

One third of inherited genetic diseases are caused by mRNAs harboring premature termination codons as a result of nonsense mutations. These aberrant mRNAs are degraded by the Nonsense-Mediated mRNA Decay (NMD) pathway. A central component of the NMD pathway is Upf1, an RNA-dependent ATPase and helicase. Upf1 is a known phosphorylated protein, but only portions of this large protein have been examined for phosphorylation sites and the functional relevance of its phosphorylation has not been elucidated in Saccharomyces cerevisiae. Using tandem mass spectrometry analyses, we report the identification of 11 putative phosphorylated sites in S. cerevisiae Upf1. Five of these phosphorylated residues are located within the ATPase and helicase domains and are conserved in higher eukaryotes, suggesting a biological significance for their phosphorylation. Indeed, functional analysis demonstrated that a small carboxy-terminal motif harboring at least three phosphorylated amino acids is important for three Upf1 functions: ATPase activity, NMD activity and the ability to promote translation termination efficiency. We provide evidence that two tyrosines within this phospho-motif (Y-738 and Y-742) act redundantly to promote ATP hydrolysis, NMD efficiency and translation termination fidelity

The Gould's Belt Very Large Array Survey III. The Orion region

We present results from a high-sensitivity (60 $\mu$Jy), large-scale (2.26 square degree) survey obtained with the Karl G. Jansky Very Large Array as part of the Gould's Belt Survey program. We detected 374 and 354 sources at 4.5 and 7.5 GHz, respectively. Of these, 148 are associated with previously known Young Stellar Objects (YSOs). Another 86 sources previously unclassified at either optical or infrared wavelengths exhibit radio properties that are consistent with those of young stars. The overall properties of our sources at radio wavelengths such as their variability and radio to X-ray luminosity relation are consistent with previous results from the Gould's Belt Survey. Our detections provide target lists for followup VLBA radio observations to determine their distances as YSOs are located in regions of high nebulosity and extinction, making it difficult to measure optical parallaxes.Comment: Accepted for publication in ApJ; 51 pages, 15 figures, 5 table

SOLIDEZ DE LOS AGREGADOS PÉTREOS MEDIANTE LA ADICION SULFATO DE MAGNESIO

El concreto es un material heterogéneo que depende de numerosas variables. Esto da lugar a que haya variación en las propiedades del mismo, lo cual se verá reflejado en la duración y calidad del producto final elaborado con este. El concreto preparado con ciertos agregados pétreos, puede ocasionar posibles deterioros, en ambientes favorables a la ocurrencia de reacciones químicas entre los agregados y los álcalis presentes en el cemento. Este artículo presenta el análisis del comportamiento de unas muestras de agregado pétreo, tomadas de la Cantera vista Hermosa (Mosquera) y la mina Cemex (Apulo), el objetivo del ensayo fue determinar la solidez de los agregados frente a la acción del sulfato de magnesio; para llegar a esto se sometieron las muestras del agregado, a la acción de ciclos de exposición y secado en una solución saturada de sulfato de magnesio y se determinaron los efectos de esta sobre las partículas del agregado. La solidez de los agregados frente a la acción del sulfato, arrojo para la cantera de Vista Hermosa (Mosquera) un comportamiento menos favorable que para la Mina Cemex (Apulo). La Cantera Vista Hermosa presento materiales altamente porosos, lo cual ocasionó disgregación de los mismos debido a su friabilidad, a pesar de ello el contenido de partículas oxidadas fue inferior que en la Mina Cemex. Así mismo con esta investigación se pretende comprender los tipos de reacciones químicas que se pueden generar a causa de los agregados pétreos empleados en la elaboración de concretos, y la incidencia de estos en deterioro en las estructuras

The Gould's Belt Very Large Array Survey II: The Serpens region

We present deep ($\sim 17~\mu$Jy) radio continuum observations of the Serpens molecular cloud, the Serpens south cluster, and the W40 region obtained using the Very Large Array in its A configuration. We detect a total of 146 sources, 29 of which are young stellar objects (YSOs), 2 are BV stars and 5 more are associated with phenomena related to YSOs. Based on their radio variability and spectral index, we propose that about 16 of the remaining 110 unclassified sources are also YSOs. For approximately 65% of the known YSOs detected here as radio sources, the emission is most likely non-thermal, and related to stellar coronal activity. As also recently observed in Ophiuchus, our sample of YSOs with X-ray counterparts lies below the fiducial G\"udel & Benz relation. Finally, we analyze the proper motions of 9 sources in the W40 region. This allows us to better constrain the membership of the radio sources in the region.Comment: Accepted in The Astrophysical Journa

Para su desarrollo realizamos un estudio del mercado que nos permiti? determinar nuestro p?blico objetivo de Millennials que radican en Lima Metropolitana pertenecientes al sector socioecon?mico B y C. Esto, debido a que sus patrones comportamentales, intereses y uso de medios digitales se encuentran alineados a nuestra propuesta de valor. Truequeando funciona como un canal o intermediario que facilita la b?squeda y comunicaci?n entre personas que desean intercambiar productos que ya no utilizan por algo que necesitan. Lo cual permitir? no solo apoyar con la reducci?n del consumismo, sino tambi?n evitar posibles problemas de salud a causa de bacterias y hongos por el almacenamiento de productos, y la necesidad de contar con un espacio determinado para su almacenamiento. Finalmente, luego de realizar las evaluaciones respecto a los indicadores financieros y econ?micos, se concluye que el modelo de negocio propuesto es viable y rentable para su implementaci?n

En el plano universitario, especialistas nacionales expresan su preocupación respecto a las prácticas de la docencia universitaria, en Latinoamérica y en nuestro país, percibiéndola dentro de un modelo anacrónico y de "transmisión analógica" renuente a la diferenciación y flexibilización. La investigación del comportamiento creativo del profesor, ha sido descuidada, posiblemente por la falta de instrumentos adecuados, la situación es diferente a la hora de medir la creatividad de las personas
