Rational points on X_0^+ (p^r)
We show how the recent isogeny bounds due to \'E. Gaudron and G. R\'emond
allow to obtain the triviality of X_0^+ (p^r)(Q), for r>1 and p a prime
exceeding 2.10^{11}. This includes the case of the curves X_split (p). We then
prove, with the help of computer calculations, that the same holds true for p
in the range 10 < p < 10^{14}, p\neq 13. The combination of those results
completes the qualitative study of such sets of rational points undertook in
previous papers, with the exception of p=13.Comment: 16 pages, no figur
Neutrino mixing and masses in a left-right model with mirror fermions
In the framework of a left-right model containing mirror fermions with gauge
group SU(3),
we estimate the neutrino masses, which are found to be consistent with their
experimental bounds and hierarchy. We evaluate the decay rates of the Lepton
Flavor Violation (LFV) processes , and . We obtain upper limits for the
flavor-changing branching ratios in agreement with their present experimental
bounds. We also estimate the decay rates of heavy Majorana neutrinos in the
channels , and , which are roughly equal for large values of the heavy
neutrino mass. Starting from the most general Majorana neutrino mass matrix,
the smallness of active neutrino masses turns out from the interplay of the
hierarchy of the involved scales and the double application of seesaw
mechanism. An appropriate parameterization on the structure of the neutrino
mass matrix imposing a symmetric mixing of electron neutrino with muon and tau
neutrinos leads to Tri-bimaximal mixing matrix for light neutrinos.Comment: Accepted by European Physical Journal
Double non-perturbative gluon exchange: an update on the soft Pomeron contribution to pp scattering
We employ a set of recent, theoretically motivated, fits to non-perturbative
unquenched gluon propagators to check in how far double gluon exchange can be
used to describe the soft sector of pp scattering data (total and differential
cross section). In particular, we use the refined Gribov--Zwanziger gluon
propagator (as arising from dealing with the Gribov gauge fixing ambiguity) and
the massive Cornwall-type gluon propagator (as motivated from Dyson-Schwinger
equations) in conjunction with a perturbative quark-gluon vertex, next to a
model based on the non-perturbative quark-gluon Maris-Tandy vertex, popular
from Bethe-Salpeter descriptions of hadronic bound states. We compare the cross
sections arising from these models with "older" ISR and more recent TOTEM and
ATLAS data. The lower the value of total energy \sqrt{s}, the better the
results appear to be.Comment: 14 pages, 8 .pdf figures. To appear in Phys.Rev.
Remarks on the representation theory of the Moyal plane
We present an explicit construction of a unitary representation of the
commutator algebra satisfied by position and momentum operators on the Moyal
plane.Comment: 10 pages, minor changes, refs. adde
On the noncommutative eikonal
We study the eikonal approximation to quantum mechanics on the Moyal plane.
Instead of using a star product, the analysis is carried out in terms of
operator-valued wavefunctions depending on noncommuting, operator-valued

Neutrino masses and mixing parameters in a left-right model with mirror fermions
In this work we consider a left-right model containing mirror fermions with
gauge group SU(3). The model has several free parameters which here we have
calculated by using the recent values for the squared-neutrino mass
differences. Lower bound for the mirror vacuum expectation value helped us to
obtain crude estimations for some of these parameters. Also we estimate the
order of magnitude of the masses of the standard and mirror neutrinos.Comment: 13 pages, version submitted to European Physical Journal
Comparative study of honey bee production with one and three queens by beehive in nueva imperial, IX region, Chile
In the Region of La Araucanía tests have been made where the production of honey of double queen beehives was compared to single queen beehives, with encouraging results. This motivated the accomplishment of this study in the zone of Nueva Imperial, which compared the conventional production of honey of triple queen systems and systems with one queen by beehive. For the accomplishment of this study 12 beehives were used, nine were grouped to form the triple queen systems and the remaining three with one queen were used as control. The research began on November 4th 2004, with weekly visits to control the factors that could affect the honey productions. The crop was made on January 11th 2005, reaching a honey production of 85 kg average for triple queens systems, which was significantly greater to the production obtained by the systems with a single queen which reached 19,17 kg of honey average.
