Goodness-of-Fit Tests to study the Gaussianity of the MAXIMA data
Goodness-of-Fit tests, including Smooth ones, are introduced and applied to
detect non-Gaussianity in Cosmic Microwave Background simulations. We study the
power of three different tests: the Shapiro-Francia test (1972), the
uncategorised smooth test developed by Rayner and Best(1990) and the Neyman's
Smooth Goodness-of-fit test for composite hypotheses (Thomas and Pierce 1979).
The Smooth Goodness-of-Fit tests are designed to be sensitive to the presence
of ``smooth'' deviations from a given distribution. We study the power of these
tests based on the discrimination between Gaussian and non-Gaussian
simulations. Non-Gaussian cases are simulated using the Edgeworth expansion and
assuming pixel-to-pixel independence. Results show these tests behave similarly
and are more powerful than tests directly based on cumulants of order 3, 4, 5
and 6. We have applied these tests to the released MAXIMA data. The applied
tests are built to be powerful against detecting deviations from univariate
Gaussianity. The Cholesky matrix corresponding to signal (based on an assumed
cosmological model) plus noise is used to decorrelate the observations previous
to the analysis. Results indicate that the MAXIMA data are compatible with

Leptophis Ahaetulla (linnaeus, 1758) (serpentes, Colubridae): First Record For The State Of Rio Grande Do Sul, Brazil
We present the first record of Leptophis ahaetulla for the State of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Between November and December 2014, and February 2015, three specimens were found, respectively: one male dead on a highway at the Parque Estadual do Espinilho, a conservation unit located at the municipality of Barra do Quaraí; and two females collected in an anthropic landscape of Salso farm at the municipality of Uruguaiana, Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Meristic data and coloration enables the identification of these specimens as Leptophis ahaetulla marginatus. © 2016 Check List and Authors.12
Exact time-dependent correlation functions for the symmetric exclusion process with open boundary
As a simple model for single-file diffusion of hard core particles we
investigate the one-dimensional symmetric exclusion process. We consider an
open semi-infinite system where one end is coupled to an external reservoir of
constant density and which initially is in an non-equilibrium state
with bulk density . We calculate the exact time-dependent two-point
density correlation function and the mean and variance of the integrated average net flux
of particles that have entered (or left) the system up to time .
We find that the boundary region of the semi-infinite relaxing system is in a
state similar to the bulk state of a finite stationary system driven by a
boundary gradient. The symmetric exclusion model provides a rare example where
such behavior can be proved rigorously on the level of equal-time two-point
correlation functions. Some implications for the relaxational dynamics of
entangled polymers and for single-file diffusion in colloidal systems are

Cosmological Black Holes on Branes
We examined analytically a cosmological black hole domain wall system. Using
the C-metric construction we derived the metric for the spacetime describing an
infinitely thin domain wall intersecting a cosmological black hole. We studied
the behaviour of the scalar field describing a self-interacting cosmological
domain wall and find the approximated solution valid for large distances. The
thin wall approximation and the back raection problem were elaborated finding
that the topological kink solution smoothed out singular behaviour of the zero
thickness wall using a core topological and hence thick domain wall. We also
analyze the nucleation of cosmological black holes on and in the presence of a
domain walls and conclude that the domain wall will nucleate small black holes

"Forbidden" transitions between quantum Hall and insulating phases in p-SiGe heterostructures
We show that in dilute metallic p-SiGe heterostructures, magnetic field can
cause multiple quantum Hall-insulator-quantum Hall transitions. The insulating
states are observed between quantum Hall states with filling factors \nu=1 and
2 and, for the first time, between \nu=2 and 3 and between \nu=4 and 6. The
latter are in contradiction with the original global phase diagram for the
quantum Hall effect. We suggest that the application of a (perpendicular)
magnetic field induces insulating behavior in metallic p-SiGe heterostructures
in the same way as in Si MOSFETs. This insulator is then in competition with,
and interrupted by, integer quantum Hall states leading to the multiple
re-entrant transitions. The phase diagram which accounts for these transition
is similar to that previously obtained in Si MOSFETs thus confirming its
universal character
WildKey: A Privacy-Aware Keyboard Toolkit for Data Collection In-The-Wild
Touch data, and in particular text-entry data, has been predominantly collected in laboratory settings, under controlled conditions. While touch and text-entry data has consistently shown its potential for monitoring and detecting a variety of conditions and impairments, its deployment in-the-wild remains a challenge. In this paper, we present WildKey, an Android keyboard toolkit that allows for the usable deployment of in-the-wild user studies. WildKey is able to analyse text-entry behaviours through implicit and explicit text-entry data collection while ensuring user privacy. We detail each of the WildKey’s components and features, metrics collected, and discuss the steps taken to ensure user privacy thus promoting compliance
Vertical Confinement and Evolution of Reentrant Insulating Transition in the Fractional Quantum Hall Regime
We have observed an anomalous shift of the high field reentrant insulating
phases in a two-dimensional electron system (2DES) tightly confined within a
narrow GaAs/AlGaAs quantum well. Instead of the well-known transitions into the
high field insulating states centered around , the 2DES confined
within an 80\AA-wide quantum well exhibits the transition at .
Comparably large quantum lifetime of the 2DES in narrow well discounts the
effect of disorder and points to confinement as the primary driving force
behind the evolution of the reentrant transition.Comment: 5 pages, 4 figure
