Nontrivial Galois module structure of cyclotomic fields
We say a tame Galois field extension with Galois group has trivial
Galois module structure if the rings of integers have the property that
\Cal{O}_{L} is a free \Cal{O}_{K}[G]-module. The work of Greither,
Replogle, Rubin, and Srivastav shows that for each algebraic number field other
than the rational numbers there will exist infinitely many primes so that
for each there is a tame Galois field extension of degree so that has
nontrivial Galois module structure. However, the proof does not directly yield
specific primes for a given algebraic number field For any
cyclotomic field we find an explicit so that there is a tame degree
extension with nontrivial Galois module structure
U.S.-Mexican migration cooperation: obstacles and opportunities
This chapter begins by briefly reviewing theoretical issues regarding opportunities for migration cooperation. Immigration is an inherently multidimensional issue and differs from trade and other aspects of the bilateral relationship because of Mexico's unique ability to influence policy outcomes. Thus, simple asymmetric bargaining models are of limited utility for examining joint migration policy-making, and it is necessary instead to consider specific migration preferences in each country as well as the context in which migration negotiations occur. The remainder of the chapter therefore reviews the history of U.S. and Mexican preferences over migration policy, changes in the broader bilateral relationship, and the evolution of bilateral conflict and cooperation on migration policy. A final section evaluates contemporary preferences and context to identify obstacles and opportunities for migration cooperation at this time.Emigration and immigration ; Mexico
Formulas as Programs
We provide here a computational interpretation of first-order logic based on
a constructive interpretation of satisfiability w.r.t. a fixed but arbitrary
interpretation. In this approach the formulas themselves are programs. This
contrasts with the so-called formulas as types approach in which the proofs of
the formulas are typed terms that can be taken as programs. This view of
computing is inspired by logic programming and constraint logic programming but
differs from them in a number of crucial aspects.
Formulas as programs is argued to yield a realistic approach to programming
that has been realized in the implemented programming language ALMA-0 (Apt et
al.) that combines the advantages of imperative and logic programming. The work
here reported can also be used to reason about the correctness of non-recursive

Theoretical analysis of interhemispheric transfer costs in visual word recognition
It is becoming increasingly clear that interhemispheric transfer is an important factor in visual word recognition. One of the two computational models of visual word recognition that includes this aspect, the SERIOL model, is tested on the basis of recently obtained behavioural word naming data. Optimal viewing position (OVP) data were collected from participants with left hemisphere language dominance, right hemisphere language dominance, and bilateral language representation (as determined by fMRI). We employ a mathematical model, which is based on some of the underlying assumptions of SERIOL, to investigate the model's ability to predict our results. We show that this mathematical model, which makes use of the original parameters, is able to perfectly predict the differences in the OVP curves observed in the three groups of participants

As the use of electronic medical records continues to become the standard in medicine, the electronic drug calendar will serve as an invaluable tool for the diagnosis of drug hypersensitivity
