Transgender College Student Equity and Inclusion Program

Understanding the inequities experienced by Transgender college students on university campuses is fundamental to promoting the occupational engagement of Transgender individuals. The Transgender community in the United States (U.S.) today is more widely varied and accepted than ever before in the recorded history of post-European colonialization of this country (Beemyn, 2014). Dowers, White, Kingsley and Swenson (2019) explain the risk for increased occupational injustice for Transgender college students due to their complex experience of occupations and the influencing factors. Current research has significant gaps in our understanding of how to counteract the effects of occupational injustice for Transgender college and university students. This project analyzes the needs and experiences of Transgender students and utilizes them to synthesize a program to promote occupational and educational equity. This program focuses on creating equitable and inclusive university campuses by providing suggestions on how to eradicate systemic transphobia and increase education and awareness of Transgender student needs. A mixed-method project design was utilized as a needs assessment, which included quantitative and qualitative data collection via anonymous surveys with both Likert scale ratings and short answer questions. Three themes emerged from the findings: existing Transgender resources, systemic transphobia, and physical and psychosocial environment. Needs assessment findings were developed into a ten-section Transgender Student Equity and Inclusion Program which is being implemented at Dominican University of California

The documentation of the architectural heritage requires the storage of large amounts of information that must be stored and processed in very different formats, since it comes from experts from different areas of knowledge. This heterogeneity of information makes communication difficult among professionals who participate in documentation work, such as restorers, architects, engineers, archaeologists or historians, with the transfer of information being one of the biggest problems to be solved, through the creation of a methodology that favors the diffusion and accessibility to the materials coming from the investigation. The aim of the study is to create a protocol or methodology, to create a graphic database that allows the inventory of the architectural heritage in Aragon. The solution implies the development of a geometric model that allows to include and relate information related to it. The format is a HBIM model capable of incorporating information on a stratified support, with visualization, documentation and management capabilities that allow a complete view of the building to be cataloged, incorporating useful information for its conservation, restoration, protection and dissemination, as well as interoperability between tools and other systems throughout the entire life cycle of the object. In this research, we will work with the virtual platform Petrobim, a tool composed of a database and a viewer, whose purpose is the management and query of information linked to a 3D model, throughout the entire cycle building life

[EN] With current data acquisition techniques, exhaustive documentation of patrimonial goods is generated, which allows obtaining a 3D geometric model, on which data from research from research is generated. As in other fields of architecture, the latest graphic techniques and manipulation of the image, allow a working methodology other than the current one in the patrimonial field. The information systems have been evolving towards technologies developed with open source software, the use of standards, ontologies and the structuring of information and of the 3D model itself under a semantic hierarchy. Interoperability between databases is favored and the maintenance of applications is ensured. The purpose is to support decision-making related to the model and simultaneously, serve multiple purposes such as cataloging, protection, restoration, conservation, maintenance or dissemination, among others. The research carried out for the realization of the survey of the City Council and Lonja of Alcañiz (Teruel), has the aim of expanding the historical knowledge of the buildings and delimiting its possible constructive phases, in order to obtain the geometric reality of the buildings. In this way, provide greater instruments to carry out the drafting work of the set restoration project. Quintilla Castán, M.; Agustín Hernández, L. Generation of a digital archive of heritage, with drones in rural areas

    Get PDF
The enhancement of heritage, both cultural and natural, must be considered as a resource for revitalizing the territory. In this context, Aragon has a great landscape and cultural heritage that is scattered throughout the territory and is not very accessible. It needs to be properly documented and inventoried as a means of activating new processes of knowledge, enhancement and use of rural development. This work is devoted to the creation of the Digital 3D Inventory of the Aragonese Mudejar Architectural Heritage, which includes buildings that currently have little graphic and imprecise documentation, since many of them are located in small towns of less than 500 inhabitants, with urban fabric of narrow streets. To carry out the registration, the use of drones to capture images and later the construction of the point cloud with photogrammetry, it is an adequate technical and economically sustainable solution since it deals with populations plagued by depopulation and with few resources. A generalized methodology is proposed to collect, store and disseminate 2D/3D geometric and geospatial documentation of inventoried buildings, providing more graphic information than traditional architectural inventories. As a novelty, for the dissemination of information, the creation of a web platform composed of a cartographic viewer (WebGIS) and a point cloud manager based on WebGL technology is proposed as a valuable tool to relate buildings with their environment, characteristic of great importance in the case of heritage located in rural areas

Análisis del diseño de escuelas infantiles desde una visión pedagógica.

The architect's challenge is to design nursery schools that are integrated with the pedagogical project, facilitating the educational work of adults and the learning and discovery of children through the creation of spaces that favor interpersonal relationships, autonomy, creativity or exploration during their first years of life in a physical and social environment. The research addresses the design of nursery schools from the integrating perspective of pedagogy in the architecture project, providing the hidden and silent curriculum that the projected environments confer to the child's formation. Five municipal nursery schools in Zaragoza (Spain) are taken as a case study, undertaken from the experience of many years in the drafting of public teaching facilities, as a means of collecting references for decision-making during the design process. The result is dynamic equipment that adapts to different needs and situations, providing stimuli and experiences that promote learning.

In the first chapter, the different circulatory mechanical assistance systems, their characteristics and indications are exposed. The second chapter is focused on the device HeartMate III®, the most used ventricular assist device (VAD) in Spain nowadays. In the third one, it is presented the fundamental nursing rol in a VAD implantation. The registered nurse goes with the patient, being a vital piece in the process. Finally, the chapter number four is about an interview to a patient who has a VAD HeartMate III®. Considerations: The development of these devices has suposed a great advance in the treatment for heart failure. It is fundamental a scrupulous selection of patients and appropiate nursing care to guarantee the success in the therapy.Grado en Enfermerí

Structural safety analysis of the aqueducts 'Coll de foix' and 'Capdevila' of the Canal of Aragon and Catalonia

    Get PDF
The Canal of Aragon and Catalonia (CAC) is 134 km long and irrigates 105,000 ha (131 irrigation user communities) and it is owned by the River Ebro’s Water Agency. The aqueducts are located between km 67 and 71 of the canal and were designed by the civil engineer Félix de los Ríos Martín in 1907. The cross-section of both aqueducts, Coll de Foix and Capdevila, was extended within the framework of the project by Fernando Hué Herrero in 1962 in order to reach design flows of 26.1 m3/s and 25.7 m3/s, respectively. The structural performance of the aqueducts has been satisfactory; nevertheless, the hydraulic capacity has reduced over the years. As a result, the irrigation user communities have expressed the need to extend the cross-section of the aqueducts to meet the irrigation demands. Given the age of the structure and the different design considerations at the time, it is paramount to verify the structural reliability of the aqueducts in the new load configuration. Therefore, the objective of this contribution is to present the structural safety analysis conducted and to describe the new extended cross-section for both aqueducts (maintaining the original structural typology).Peer ReviewedPostprint (published version
