DOI: https://doi.org/10.14746/ikps.2019.24.05 Inclusive education is one of the available forms of education for students with disabilities in Poland. Inclusion classrooms have fewer student and an additional teacher assistant. The schools in which this type of education takes place should meet a number of requirements. They start with the infrastructure and available teaching aids, and end with the teacher training and the availability of specialists. However, these are only prerequisites. In addition to them, the attitude of teachers and their training, the atmosphere prevailing in the school and the relations between students are important. All these elements are components on which success depends. The article presents the opinions of parents whose children attend such classes. Their voice is consistent with the results obtained by other researchers and the reports of the Supreme Audit Office (NIK)- there are no teaching aids, it isnot always possible to talk to specialists (staff shortages), the individualization used in working with students is insufficient, and the relations in classes are only seemingly good.Dominika Przybyszewska, Functioning of inclusion classrooms in the opinion of parents – organization, teacher training, individualized instruction and social relations. Downward professional mobility among Poles working and living in Norway

Doctoral thesis (PhD) – Nord University, 2020This thesis uncovers the logic, dynamics, and meaning-making that underlie the downward professional mobility of Polish migrants in Norway. Drawing on data analysis of 30 qualitative interviews conducted with Poles working below their level of qualification in Norway, the study answers the following research question: How do Polish migrants perceive and respond to their downward professional mobility in the Norwegian labour market? The study finds that perceptions of and responses to underemployment intersected with migration are strongly marked by national identity, with Polish migrants’ positionality occupying an unfavourable position within the field of national hierarchies. I argue that the national component of migrants’ habitus drives them into specific, low-skilled jobs, which they perceive as available to Polish migrants in Norway. Simultaneously, Polish migrants are highly aware of being discriminated against and racialised in the job-seeking process in Norway (article 1). The majority of migrants begin their professional careers in Norway in immigrant niches. The study demonstrates that working in or beyond the immigrant niche has a crucial impact on migrants’ adaptation capacities (article 3). By analysing the psychosocial burdens and sociocultural mismatches related to underemployment and migration (article 2), the thesis reveals and emphasises the human side of the experiences related to downward professional mobility. I bridge Bourdieu’s concepts of habitus and field with hierarchies of desirability of national migrant groups to conceptualise the transnational field of national hierarchies (article 1). Furthermore, I develop the notion of habitus mismatch to conceptualise the conflict between valued and stigmatised identities, and the emotional dimension of this conflict (article 2). I also propose the notion of cultural distrust to address the process whereby multiple cultural misunderstandings lead to migrants’ distrust towards the host community members (article 3).publishedVersio

The marriages of the King of Poland Sigismund III Vasa with Anne (1592) and subsequently her sister Constance (1605), who were descendants of the dynasty of Archdukes of Inner Austria, had many cultural consequences. The article recalls some facts on the migrations of musicians and musical repertories in both directions between Cracow (also Warsaw) and Graz at the end of the sixteenth century and during the first two decades of the seventeenth century.Poroki poljskega kralja Sigismunda III. Vase z Ano (1592) in pozneje Constanzo (1605), članicama dinastije notranjeavstrijskih nadvojvod, sta imeli veliko kulturnih posledic. Razprava povzema podatke o obojesmernih migracijah glasbenikov in glasbenega repertoarja med Krakovom (tudi Varšavo) in Gradcem konec 16. in v prvih dveh desetletjih 17. stoletja

The main heroines of the article are Austrian archduchesses, wives of Kings of Poland: Anna and Constance of Styria, two consecutive wives of Sigismund III Vasa (1595–98, 1605–31), Cecilia Renata, daughter of Emperor Ferdinand II and wife to Ladislaus IV (1637–44), and Eleanora Maria Josefa, daughter of Emperor Ferdinand III and wife to Michael Korybut Wiśniowiecki (1670–73). The main objective is to show how the royal marriages strengthened cultural ties between the Polish royal court and the courts from which the archduchesses arrived. Special emphasis is placed on the gradual »Italianization« of music culture at the Austrian and Polish courts, and its significance for the adaptation and dissemination of opera as a genre in Poland. Vase (1595–98, 1605–31), Cecilia Renata, kći cara Ferdinanda II. i supruga kralja Ladislava IV.

The article is a collection of thoughts that transpired during the work at the Archive of Włodzimierz Odojewski. The aim of the authors was to identify and indicate the potential ways to study the life and works of the writer, and the expected result of the research is a biography of Odojewski. The research was based on the exploration of the writer’s private collection: unpublished documents, manuscripts, typescripts, personal papers, correspondence, family and estate papers and photographs. The authors focused on a number of issues. One, the biographical facts that influenced Odojewski’s output – World War II, frequent relocations, censorship and a ban on publishing in Poland, emigration, the relation with the Polish Institute in Maisons-Laffitte and working at Radio Free Europe’s editorial office. Two, the analysis of literary works including hundreds of typescripts in many variants (related to the phases of the genetic history of a literary work through the stages of Odojewski’s life) which allowed for describing Odojewski’s writing techniques. Three, ‘The writer’s map’ which points out places important for the author – Poznań, Gniezno, Kłecko, Podole,Szczecin, Warsaw, Paris, Berlin, Munich. Four, the correspondence (personal and cultural) which can be used as an important source of knowledge of the history of Polish post-war emigration. One of the most interesting parts of the collection is a collection of letters from Jerzy Giedroyć that show Polish culture outside the Iron Curtain. The article is a collection of thoughts that transpired during the work at the Archive of Włodzimierz Odojewski.
