Synthesis of Enantiopure Oxygen- and Nitrogen-Containing Heterocycles by Diastereoselective Ring-Closing Metathesis Reaction in Perhydro-1,3-benzoxazine Derivatives

Producción CientíficaDiastereoselective ring‐closing metathesis reactions on chiral trienic perhydro‐1,3‐benzoxazines derived from (−)‐8‐aminomenthol featuring two diastereotopic olefin chains is described. The diastereochemical outcome of the cyclization appeared to be dependent on the length and position of the olefin chains in perhydro‐1,3‐benzoxazine, the degree of substitution of the double bonds and the ruthenium catalyst used. Behaviour of insulin Langmuir monolayers at the air–water interface under various conditions

Bovine insulin (INS) monolayers were spread from dilute HCl solution on aqueous subphases under various conditions of temperature (1525 °C), pH (110) and salt content (NaCl, Na3PO4, ZnCl2), and plots of surface pressure (π) against mean area per amino acid residue (A) were recorded during their compression at fast and slow barrier speeds. Although the characteristics and behaviour of the monolayers were significantly influenced by these variables, under none of the conditions studied did molecules of the film appear to migrate into the subphase. In most of conditions mentioned above, compression of these films seems likely to cause the partial submersion of the insulin molecules in the subphase, but these structural changes are relatively slow and essentially reversible. The formation of a relatively rigid, compact film structure, by molecular association, seems to be favoured by high subphase pH and by the presence of Zn2+ ions, while low pH and the presence of PO43 ions appear to favour the dissociation of oligomers, the extension of the monomers and the total submersion of their A chains in the subphase during compression. Encuesta de opinión para la evaluación de la gestión pública en colombia: una propuesta de medición

El artículo propone implementar una encuesta de opinión cualitativa, dirigida a expertos, y con losresultados construir un índice orientado a evaluar la gestión de los gobiernos de manera continua,mediante una metodología que considera siete temáticas para analizar en un contexto diferente alfinanciero, la percepción sobre el desempeño institucional. El método abordado se basa en el estudioy adaptación en un cuestionario simplificado de las principales directrices fijadas por organismosmultilaterales a los Estados para el seguimiento de sus responsabilidades y de las buenas prácticasestadísticas vigentes para el diseño de encuestas de percepción de opinión. Synthetic Indexes of Well-being and Sustainability for the Spanish Regions

El punto de partida ha sido el Índice de la Buena Vida (Better Life Index, de la OCDE) y un Índice de Sostenibilidad (Happy Planet Index, basado en la huella ecológica). Los resultados muestran que no existe una clara correspondencia entre PIB regional, bienestar y sostenibilidad, y reflejan también la influencia negativa del impacto ecológico en los niveles de bienestar. El interés de este análisis preliminar es valorar de un modo más completo el progreso de las sociedades y contribuir a diseñar y evaluar políticas que mejoren el bienestar y la sostenibilidad.This work estimates, for the first time, two synthetic indexes for the Spanish regions (Comunidades Autónomas): well-being and sustainability. The starting point has been the Better Life Index (OECD and own calculations) and the Index of Sustainability (Happy Planet Index and ecological footprint). The results show that there are no clear correspondences between regional GDP, well-being and sustainability, and also reflect the negative influence of ecological impacts on well-being levels. Business intelligence maturity models: opportunities and recommendations for future investigation - a systematic literature review - part 1

La globalización de la economía representa grandes desafíos. Uno de ellos es la explotación de la información y el conocimiento de la empresa. Convertir datos en información y la información en conocimiento se denomina inteligencia de negocios- BI. Se han desarrollado varias herramientas de BI para apoyar el proceso de toma de decisiones. Los modelos de madurez son una de estas herramientas. Esta investigación tiene como objetivo mostrar en dos partes, lagunas y proponer oportunidades para el avance en este campo. En general, se reveló un predominio de características genéricas y descriptivas. Se detectaron algunas lagunas relacionadas con modelos que pueden adaptarse a segmentos industriales específicos. Este campo todavía ofrece amplias posibilidades para nuevos modelos de investigación y madurez.The economy globalization represents significant challenges. One of them is information exploitation and company knowledge. Converting data into information and information into knowledge is called Business Intelligence – BI. Several BI tools have been established to support the decision-making process. Maturity Models is one of these tools. This research aims to show in two parts, breaches and to propose prospects for the progression of this field. In general, the prevalence of generic and descriptive features was revealed. Some gaps related to models that can be modified to specific industrial sectors were detected. This field offers great promises for new investigations and maturity models

Hemodynamic on abdominal aortic aneurysm: Parametric study

El objetivo del presente estudio es determinar qué influencia tienen los parámetros geométricos con las tensiones hemodinámicas en aneurismas abdominales aórticos. Para ello los autores han creado varios modelos geométricos de aneurismas abdominales basándose en sus principales características geométricas (diámetro máximo, diámetro mínimo, longitud aneurisma y asimetría) y técnicas computacionales para calcular la presión y la tensión de corte en el saco aneurismático. Los resultados obtenidos constatan que la presión hemodinámica es la principal carga mecánica que actúa sobre la pared arterial y que la morfometría de los aneurismas podría ser utilizada como buen predictor del riesgo de rotura. Posteriormente, con el objetivo de determinar si los modelos geométricos se podrían usar como aproximación de modelos reales, se compararon varios modelos reales (patient-specific) con sus respectivos modelos geométricos obteniendo una buena aproximación.The aim of this study is to assess how the shape of the abdominal aortic aneurysms (AAA) affects the hemodynamic wall stresses. With this purpose, different AAAs are studied through simplified models based on geometrical parameters of the aneurism such as its maximum and minimum diameter, length and asymmetry. Then, a computational fluid dynamics analysis is performed on the simplified models in order to compute pressure and wall shear stresses on the aneurysm sac. The results obtained show that blood pressure is the main dynamic load acting on the artery wall, and that the morphology of the aneurysm could be a good indicator of risk of failure. Furthermore, the computational results are compared with patient-specific real models with the objective to assess the reliability of the proposed simplified approach.Peer Reviewe

A Modal-Based Partition of Unity Finite Element Method for Elastic Wave Propagation Problems in Layered Media

Financiado para publicación en acceso aberto: Universidade da Coruña/CISUG[Abstract] The time-harmonic propagation of elastic waves in layered media is simulated numerically by means of a modal-based Partition of Unity Finite Element Method (PUFEM). Instead of using the standard plane waves or the Bessel solutions of the Helmholtz equation to design the discretization basis, the proposed modal-based PUFEM explicitly uses the tensor-product expressions of the eigenmodes (the so-called Love and interior modes) of a spectral elastic transverse problem, which fulfil the coupling conditions among layers. This modal-based PUFEM approach does not introduce quadrature errors since the coefficients of the discrete matrices are computed in closed-form. A preliminary analysis of the high condition number suffered by the proposed method is also analyzed in terms of the mesh size and the number of eigenmodes involved in the discretization. The numerical methodology is validated through a number of test scenarios, where the reliability of the proposed PUFEM method is discussed by considering different modal basis and source terms. Lista actualizada de los Aphidini (Hemiptera, Aphididae) íbero-baleares

The check-list of species in the Tribe Aphidini (Hemiptera, Aphididae: Aphidinae) recorded to date from the Iberian Peninsula and Balearic Isles is presented, 139 species are listed. A list of the countries (Andorra, Spain and Portugal) and provinces (Spanish) or districts (Portuguese) where each species and subspecies is known is also included. Five species are mentioned for the first time in Iberian-Balearic territory: Aphis callunae Theobald, A. comosa (Börner), A. lantanae Koch (with the subspecies A. lantanae coriaria Börner), A. erigerontis Holman and Schizaphis longicaudata Hille Ris Lambers. Nine species have been removed from the check-list: Aphis euphorbiae Kaltenbach, A. genistae Scopoli, A. pilosellae (Börner), A. salsolae (Börner), A. striata Hille Ris Lambers, Brachyunguis zygophylli (Nevsky), B. suaedus (Paik), Protaphis centaurea (Gómez-Menor) and Schizaphis pilipes (Ossiannilsson). Aphis ruborum Börner & Schilder, 1931 is recognized as the valid name for Aphis ruborum Börner, 1932 syn. nov. and Rhopalosiphum oxyacanthae (Schrank) for Rhopalosiphum insertum (Walker). Two new combinations are established: Xerobion blascoi comb. nov. for Aphis blascoi García Prieto & Sanchís Segovia and Xerobion brutii comb. nov. for Absinthaphis brutii Barbagallo. Five binomens have been re-established: A. althaeae (Nevsky), A. ballotae Passerini, A. longirostris (Börner), A. ononidis (Schouteden) and A. picridis (Börner) to replace A. davletshinae Hille Ris Lambers, A. balloticola Szelegiewicz, A. longirostrata Hille Ris Lambers, A. kaltenbachi Hille Ris Lambers and A. stroyani Szelegiewicz, respectively. The life cycle of Aphis stachydis Mordvilko is given and its males and oviparous females are described. Taxonomic, faunistics and nomenclatural data of other taxa are also given.Se presenta el catálogo de las especies de la tribu Aphidini (Hemiptera, Aphididae: Aphidinae) citadas hasta este momento en la península Ibérica e islas Baleares, con 139 especies. Se relacionan los países (Andorra, España y Portugal) y las provincias (españolas) o distritos (portugueses) en los que se han citado cada una de las especies y en su caso subespecies.
