    EFL Students’ Perception on the Use of Social Media Platforms as Learning Tools

    The Covid-19 pandemic has spread to all parts of the world including Indonesia. The existence of the Covid 19 problem has changed many aspects of human life, including in the field of education. Therefore, the use of social media devices has become an alternative learning tool in providing material to students during the Covid-19 pandemic. With this new challenge, every human being is challenged to change old habits into new ones, especially in the world of education. This study aims at determining the EFL students' perceptions regarding the use of various social media tools to support online learning during the Covid-19 pandemic. The method used in this research was qualitative using a descriptive approach. The sampling technique used in this study was random sampling by distributing questionnaires via google form and conducting interviews with 25 selected students to explore students' perceptions about the use of social media in English learning. The data that has been collected is analyzed in an elaborated way. In the application of learning using social media, there are many positive responses given by students, but there are also students who experience some problems in the application of learning using social media. Even among them, they also experience various difficulties in using it, especially in internet access. The results show that the use of social media platforms provides several advantages in its implementation, such as the flexibility of time, the effectiveness of its use, ease, interactive, fun use. However, the challenges are very monotonous learning activities, spending quotas, boredom and difficulty expressing their creativity, bad responses and an erratic schedule

    A tourism destination is a place that can be used for recreation. This location is a spot that can be a feature or icon of an area. A tourism destination can provide an atmosphere that is easy to remember if it has special or specific characteristics or has advantages than other tourist attractions. This study aims to determine students' opinions related to the use of local destinations to improve students' English speaking skill. The method used in this research is qualitative by using a descriptive approach. The data was obtained through the provision of questionnaires and to obtain more in-depth information, several students were interviewed. Data is analyzed through the stages of interpreting, describing and concluding. The results showed that students found it easier to express English based on their experience of visiting local destinations. In addition, students have the ability to express better through understanding the character of the atmosphere of a tourism place. Students also have positive attitudes in using English to communicate

    DEVELOPMENT OF ORNAMENTAL CACTUS HORTICULTURE CULTIVATION FOR VILLAGE YOUTH

    Cultivation is one of the planned activities of maintaining biological resources carried out on an area of ??land to take advantage or harvest results. The steps taken in this activity are to provide training to young people on how to cultivate horticultural ornamental cactus plants through four stages: 1) Explain the material about an overview of ornamental cactus plants, which includes the definition of ornamental cactus plants and the benefits of cultivating ornamental cactus plants, 2) Planting ornamental cactus plants, treating and controlling pests, 3) Utilizing ornamental cactus plants as economic value, 4) Evaluating the training that has been carried out and drawing conclusions. This activity was carried out with a very good response from the training participants so that they thought this training could be useful in the future. Participants hope that training activities like this can continue with different themes in order to provide education in the development and utilization of existing resources to help from the economic point of view of the local community

    STUDENTS' PROBLEMS FACE IN ONLINE LEARNING AMIDT PANDEMIC COVID 19

    ABSTRACT   The existence of the corona virus requires face-to-face teaching to be replaced with online teaching. As a new alternative in learning, it will certainly bring up several obstacles that will be faced by students while studying. This study aims to determine the difficulties faced by students during online learning by using various applications that support online learning such as WhatsApp, Google Classroom and Zoom Meeting. In this study, qualitative methods have been used and a descriptive approach was used to explain the data. In data collection, questionnaires and interviews were used to obtain in-depth information about the difficulties faced by students during online learning. The results in this study indicate that students experience various kinds of obstacles in the implementation of online learning, such as (1) operating learning applications, (2) limited internet quota, (3), incomplete learning resources / materials, (4) poor communication, and (5) decreased learning motivation during online learning, however, even though there were obstacles faced by the students, it did not stop them from continuing to study in difficult times such as the Covid 19 pandemic.   &nbsp

    TEACHER'S STRATEGY IN DEVELOPING STUDENTS' LEARNING INTEREST AFTER PANDEMIC COVID 19 AT ISLAMIC SCHOOL

    The COVID-19 pandemic has been around the world for almost two years. Many human activities have been carried out in different ways since the COVID-19 pandemic occurred, one of which is in the field of education. Learning during the pandemic is carried out online so that it has caused various obstacles in its implementation. However, recently the governmenthas allowed some schools to carry out face-to-face learning despite very strict health protocols. However, this does not mean that learning in schools can be carried out freely as before before the COVID-19 pandemic, many things have been adapted from this pandemic in learning after the pandemic. This study aims to determine the teacher's strategy in developing student interest in learning after the COVID-19 pandemic in Islamic schools. The research was carried out using a qualitative method using a descriptive approach to examine the strategies that teachers apply when studying in order to develop students' interest inlearning after the covid 19 pandemic. Data were collected by giving direct interviews to ten teachers at Mts Al-Hadi. The results of the study show that teachers have prepared themselves with new knowledge about the strategies they will use in teaching after the covid 19 pandemic.     Improving Students’ English Skill by Using The Papets (Paper Puppets) Learning Media

    Fun learning can make students interested in participating in a lesson. The teacher as the main key in the classroom must have various ways to attract students' interest in learning. One way that teachers can do to attract students' interest in learning is with use teaching media. Media or teaching tools are tools that can be used to stimulate students in learning various kinds of material, especially English. The use of learning media can also help teachers in transferring knowledge to students in a fun way. One of the learning media that teachers can do is the use of the Papets (Paper Puppets) media. This study aims to see how far the paper puppets learning media can improve students' understanding in learning English. The research was conducted in one of the elementary schools in Bengkulu province. The method used in this research is qualitative using a descriptive approach. The data were obtained through observation, interviews and direct field practice in schools. Then the data is analyzed by going through several stages namely; data reduction, data display and conclusion. The results showed that students were very enthusiastic about learning English by using the papets media. In addition, interesting and funny pictures also make students excited so that students' knowledge of English increases very well.

    ABSTRAK Taman nasional merupakan salah satu kawasan konservasi terbaik untuk menyaksikan keindahan fenomena alam terutama untuk flora dan fauna endemik, langka dan dilindungi (Kementerian Kehutanan, 2003) sehingga keberadaan taman nasional memiliki arti yang sangat strategis dan penting dalam keanekaragaman hayati tari peles. Taman Nasional Bukit Barisan Selatan memiliki keanekaragaman hayati yang sangat kaya. Oleh UNESCO, taman nasional ini ditetapkan sebagai Klaster Situs Warisan. Pegunungan Hutan Hujan Tropis Sumatera (Pegunungan Hutan Hujan Tropis Warisan Situs Klaster Sumatera) bersama dengan Taman Nasional Kerinci Seblat dan Taman Nasional Gunung Leuser. Penelitian ini dilakukan pada bulan April hingga Mei 2020 di Taman Nasional Bukit Barisan Selatan (TNBBS), Kabupaten Bintuhan, Kabupaten Kaur, Provinsi Bengkulu. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memperoleh informasi tentang keanekaragaman hayati flora dan fauna Taman Nasional Bukit Barisan Selatan, khususnya di kawasan taman nasional yang memiliki keanekaragaman flora dan fauna. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat banyak jenis flora dan fauna yang memiliki keanekaragaman jenis, ditemukan jenis mamalia dan jenis burung, serta tumbuhan di kawasan TNBBS. Kata Kunci: Keanekaragaman Hayati, Flora dan Fauna, Taman Nasional Bukit Barisan Selatan. ABSTRACT The national park is one of the best conservation areas to witness the beauty of natural phenomena, especially to witness endemic, rare and protected flora and fauna (Ministry of Forestry, 2003), so that the existence of a national park has a very strategic meaning. and important in the biodiversity peles dance. Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park has a very rich biodiversity. By UNESCO, this national park was designated a Cluster Heritage Site. Sumatra Tropical Rainforest Mountains (Mountainous Tropical Rainforest Herritage of Sumatra Cluster Site) along with Kerinci Seblat National Park and Gunung Leuser National Park. This study was conducted in April to May 2020 in the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park (TNBBS), Bintuhan District, Kaur District, Bengkulu Province. This study aims to obtain information about the biodiversity of flora and fauna of the Bukit Barisan Selatan National Park, especially in the national park area which has a variety of flora and fauna.     ELT Teacher’s Opinion on The Utilization of Social Media In English Classroom

    Education at this time is inseparable from technological advances; even technology is the result of knowledge that is passed on through the educational process. The use of social media to communicate or simply entertain is one of the technologies that we use the most in our daily lives. Therefore, this study tries to investigate students’ opinion on the utilization of social media in English classroom. This study uses qualitative methods through a descriptive approach. Data was collected in two ways: first, by collecting literature related to the use of social media in learning English, and second, by interviewing three English teachers regarding their opinions on the use of social media in teaching English. Data were analyzed through three stages proposed by Miles and Huberman (2013), namely data reduction, data display, and conclusion. The results of the study show that the use of social media in teaching English has a positive impact on learning English, where students would become more confident, creative, innovative, independent, flexible, fun, and it can improve the learning atmosphere, more interactive, and be able to learn from a wide variety of sources so as to encourage them to improve their English skills

     The study was conducted to see the implementation of the instructional teaching strategy in teaching English to Multilevel classroom at UPB (Unit Pengembangan Bahasa) to bidikmisi students who take English course as compulsory subject at STAIN Curup. The design of this research was qualitative research which presented in descriptive way. The subject of this research are the tutors and the students of multilevel classroom. To collect data, interview used to find the basic information from the tutor about the condition and teaching strategy for multilevel classroom, then questionnaire used for the students to get the real answer of the situation in teaching English in Multilevel classroom. The result showed that tutors used variety of instructional teaching strategy such as lesson plan, student’s need, native language, self-access materials, group activity and evaluation and assessment to make students in multilevel classroom able to understand the English materials. The tutors always using different instructional teaching stratgey to promote success in English teaching learning process for multilevel students at UPB Stain Curup

    Rural High School English Teacher Online Teaching: Practices and Strategies

      The Covid-19 virus has spread throughout the world both in cities and in remote areas. The spread of the corona virus has caused the cessation of various kinds of human activities, including in the educational aspect. Teachers in rural places have faced many challenges in teaching during the pandemic. This is due to the many obstacles and problems faced by teachers during the pandemic. This study aims to describe the practices and strategies that teachers apply when teaching English in rural school. The method used in this research is qualitative using a descriptive approach. Data was collected through questionnaires via Google form and interviews via Whatsapp. The results of the study show that teachers who teach in rural places face many obstacles when teaching, such as; the lack of internet access and mastery of technology owned by students are also low motivated in leaning. In addition, teachers do more home teaching as one of their responsibilities to assist students in providing a better understanding of the english material.
