Artificial intelligence or augmented intelligence? Experiences of lecturers and students in an ODeL university

This study investigates the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) and augmented intelligence (AuI) in an open distance e-learning university, focusing on lecturers’ and students’ experiences. Using qualitative methods: focus group discussions and e-mail interviews, it examines the adoption and exploration of these technologies, particularly in academic writing skills development. The research applies diffusion of innovations theory and technology acceptance model to understand the dissemination and acceptance of AI and AuI, emphasising perceived ease of use and usefulness. It contrasts perspectives between lecturers and students, revealing varied views on AI utilisation in academic writing. Despite differences, both groups express positive experiences and benefits from AI. The findings contribute to a deeper understanding of the transformative impact of AI and AuI on teaching and learning in a distance learning university. AI has far-reaching effects on lecturers, students, and policymakers as they navigate the integration of intelligent systems in distance learning contexts

Using SISPEL Application for Character Building of Students in Vocational High School

This study delves into the effects of the SISPEL (Sistem Pelanggaran) application on character development among students in vocational high schools. Specifically, it focuses on 23 students from the Vocational High School Khusus Angkatan Laut - 1 Surabaya, who have been identified for violating school rules. By exclusively employing the SISPEL application, the research intricately examines its role in shaping character traits within the context of vocational education. Through a meticulous questionnaire-based survey, the study endeavors to highlight the application's influence on ethical values, moral principles, and the cultivation of character-building skills. The primary goal is to unveil the multi-dimensional impact it has on fostering holistic student development. The findings of this exploration not only enrich the current comprehension of character development within this specific educational framework but also offer insights into the potential of technology-driven tools like SISPEL to cultivate well-rounded individuals. This research contributes to the broader discourse on character education and underscores the significance of innovative approaches in molding the ethical and moral foundation of students

Fostering Creative Writing through Poetry in EFL Classroom

This study was conducted to examine how the ELT teacher implements creative writing through poetry in the ELT classroom during pandemic and to describe how the students express their emotions through tone of poetry in their creative writing. It is due to the existence of creative writing in language teaching and learning practice is significant to gaining students’ creativity and thinking. One of them is writing poetry. However, few literatures discussed on the method used by teachers through writing poems as well as the concern for emotion and tone embedded in students’ writing products. This study used qualitative descriptive with Indonesian EFL university students of the non-English department at an Islamic University in Indonesia as the participants. The result shows that teachers use student-centered methods to implement creative writing through poetry in the classroom during the global COVID-19 pandemic. The meeting was organized using Zoom Meeting with performing Warm-Up, Lead-In (Creation of Poem and Reading the Poem), and Follow-up. In addition, it was also found that the student’s creative works posted on Instagram were based on the negative variations of poetry tone including threatening, painful, and discouraged. The study underscores the pedagogical efficacy of student-centered creative writing in ELT, highlighting its role in enhancing emotional intelligence and validating the integration of digital platforms for remote learning. It advocates for culturally responsive curricula that leverage creative expression as a conduit for emotional articulation and critical thinkin

Overview of Mini Pile Pile Erection Work with STA 10+161 Drop Hammer Method IKN Segment 3B Toll Road Project Kariangau-Simpang Tempadung Summit

Planning of mini pile foundation in the construction project of IKN Segment 3B KKT Kariangau-Simpang Tempadung Toll Road is one type of deep foundation that is usually used in tall buildings, serves to pass the load caused by the upper structure to the bottom without causing excessive foundation decline. This toll road project is planned to be built along 7.32 km connecting the Balikpapan city area with North Penajam Paser Regency. This study uses participatory observation method, participatory observation, which is a method where the author participates directly and is involved in various activities in the project. Aims to collect data including primary data such as direct observation methods, interviews, documentation, and secondary data including work drawings, project organization data, and other data needed in writing this report. Erection on STA 10+161 box culvert area is carried out using the drop hammer method which is considered more economical. This type of foundation uses precast concrete piles of K-450 quality square pile measuring 20 x 20 cm with a length of 4-6 meters, and obtained a total of 166 points

Safety Study of Steel Structure of Weighbridge I Girder Against Hauling Trailer

Weighbridges play a vital role in coal mining operations. This study aims to calculate the stress range and fatigue life of steel bridge girder cross-sections. Using the numerical simulation method with the CSI Bridge v22 application, the maximum axial force of 197 kN and the minimum axial force of -74 kN were obtained. The axial force is determined from the first 3 spans of the bridge with a span length of 4 m. The span length of the weighbridge is 80 m. From the calculation, the maximum stress of 40.11 MPa and the minimum stress of -15.06 MPa were obtained, resulting in a stress range of 55.16 MPa. The nominal bending moment strength of the beam was found to be 0.56. This modeling allows the simulation of dynamic loads from a 400-tonne SDT truck (semi-trailer door tipper) passing over the bridge so that accurate stress range data can be obtained. Fatigue analysis was carried out using the Basquin equation using the constant C = 1x1012 and exponent m = 3, receiving a fatigue life of 0.006 (6.01x106) cycles assuming 30-40 hauling trucks passing over the weighbridge. The results of calculations and simulations obtained longitudinal and transverse profile dimensions of IWF 1000x520x18x31

The BKB program is a government initiative which aims to improve the welfare and development of toddlers through education and guidance to parents regarding good parenting patterns, health and child nutrition. This research uses a qualitative approach with data collection techniques through in-depth interviews, observation and documentation. Research respondents included BKB program implementers, parents who participated in the program, and related health workers. Data analysis was carried out thematically to identify needs and potential for innovation in implementing the BKB program. The research results show that innovation in the BKB program at Air Raya can increase family participation and the quality of interaction between parents and toddlers. Some of the proposed innovations include: the use of information technology such as mobile applications to provide information on the health and development of toddlers and as a means of communication between parents and BKB officers; holding regular training and workshops for parents on parenting, nutrition and children's health; increasing collaboration with community health centers, posyandu, and educational institutions to provide more comprehensive services; and implementing mobile education programs that can reach families living in remote areas. &nbsp

The Relationship Between Mosquito Breeding Sites and Waste Management with the Incidence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in Citimun Village, Cimalaka District in 2023

Dengue is a viral disease transmitted by Aedes mosquitoes. There are four types of dengue virus (DENV-1, DENV-2, DENV-3. DENV-4), and infection with one type provides lifelong immunity against only that type. One of the factors that can influence the increase in morbidity and death rates due to dengue disease is poor community behavior related to poor environmental sanitation.  This study aims to determine the relationship between mosquito breeding sites and waste management with the incidence of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) in the Citimun Village Area. The type of research used is quantitative research that is descriptive analytic with a cross sectional approach. The population in this study is the population of Citimun Village which amounts to 5,274 households, with a sample number of 100 families determined by the slovin formula. The data analysis used was univariate and bivariate data analysis using the Chi-Square test. The results showed that there was a relationship between mosquito breeding sites and dengue incidence with a p-value of 0.001, and there was a relationship between waste management and dengue incidence with a p-value of 0.006. It is hoped that village officials and epidemiological surveillance officers at puskesmas can provide counseling to the community so that the community can maintain good environmental cleanliness and to avoid disease. &nbsp
