Reaction heat used in static water removal from fuel cells

    Get PDF
Reaction heat is used for removal of water formed at the hydrogen fuel electrode in a hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell. A portion of the heat inherent in the fuel cell current generation reaction is used to transfer excess water into water vapor and cause it to be exhausted from the cell by a porous vapor transport membrane adjoining a vapor cavity

Negotiating Contract Language on Health & Safety: A Union Guide to Planning, with Sample Clauses

    Get PDF
[Excerpt] Rather than representing the final word on the subject, we hope this manual will represent the first step in an evolutionary process of increasingly effective and comprehensive health and safety contract language guidance. This can only succeed if labor leaders communicate with us concerning critical failures and successes in utilizing or obtaining contract language related to the work environment. We look forward to hearing about your experiences

Storytellers and Their Religious Beliefs: Fact or Fiction?

    Get PDF
Stories are how we communicate with each other, and are a big part of the entertainment world today. Religious texts such as The Bible contain stories that have shaped entire civilizations and deeply impacted the minds of billions of humans. Directors and authors take inspiration from their own life experiences when writing their stories. And naturally, storytellers with strong religious beliefs will either intentionally or unintentionally allow those beliefs to affect the content of the stories they create. The purpose of this study is to analyze to what extent the religious beliefs of a storyteller affect the stories they tell, as well as audience perceptions of those stories. This analysis will be conducted through direct analysis of stories and their creators’ religious beliefs, traveling to film festivals (both religious and nonreligious in nature), and interviewing creators and audience members at those festivals. The product will be a paper that compiles my findings, as well as a compilation and analysis of the interviews I conduct

    Conservation of number

    Get PDF
Precision teaching is the sequential presentation of concepts. Each presentation is determined by the ongoing evaluation and integration of each child\u27s level of development along three continuum: conceptualization, decoding, and encoding. An area for precision teaching is mathematics for young children with learning disabilities. The general aim of this paper was to explore one mathematical concept -- the conservation of number--and to present training procedures based on the research findings

Self-control as a predictor of drug use: A study with university students in Botswana

    Get PDF
The study examined the relatonship between self-control and drug use among university students in Botswana. Bandura’s social cognitve theory of self-regulaton provided the theoretcal framework for the study. Among the 269 partcipants with a mean age of 20.9 years (SD = 1.8), 72.9% were female and 27.1% were male. Instruments employed were the Brief Self-control Scale and the Drug Abuse Screening Test. Drug users had signifcantly lower self-control scores than non-drug users (t = 4.57, p = 0.000). Levels of drug use were negatvely associated with self-control (r = -0.33, p = 0.006). Partcipants who had stopped using drugs had signifcantly higher self-control scores (t = 2.38, p = 0.020). Low self-control, male gender and higher level of studies explained between 16.9% (Cox & Snell) and 29.9% (Nagelkerke) of the variaton in whether or not students had used drugs, with self-control having the strongest predictve ability (p = 0.001). The results of this study imply that self-control does play a pertnent role in whether or not young people engage in drug use. The results are discussed with regard to drug use preventon and treatment strategies that should equip young people with skills and techniques in self-control to protect them against drug use and abuse. Keywords: Botswana, drug use, gender, self-control, self-regulaton, university student

Club «Ventana sobre el Mundo» en el WorId Trade Center Nueva York - EE. UU.

This is a very large space subdivided into twenty five dining and social areas, reception, concierge office, telephone room, sitting galleries, etc., occupying all of the 4000 m2 of the top floor of the World Trade Center. All the dining and sitting areas are glazed and so placed as to afford magnificent and stunning views of the city, the river and the harbor. Each decorative element, work of art and furniture piece have been carefully studied and designed by the architects to achieve this unique character. The same can be said about the surprising but pleasant effects obtained, all without overstepping the original budget. Among the most outstanding atmospheres created, the reception area, the mirror gallery, the main restaurant (300 hundred seats), the South dining room, the bar and the «Cellar in the Sky», deserve special mention.

Dynamic and Stability Characteristics of an Articulated Frame Railway Passenger Truck

    Get PDF
Mass transit vehicles in formal rail service frequently attain speeds which can excited carbody oscillations (primary hunting), as well as sustained lateral oscillations of the trucks (secondary hunting). The carbody motions have been shown to generate passenger discomfort and sustained truck hunting can lead to derailment. This thesis developed approximate equations which predict the carbody hunting frequencies, as well as the hunting speed of an articulated frame truck. The linear equations of motion are derived from a simplified model of a railway vehicle. A comparison indicates the results obtained using the approximate truck hunting equation presented here are within ten percent of the results obtained from more rigorous approaches reported by others
