De la difusión de tópicos a las estrategias auto-reflexivas : el caso de la representación de las mujeres brasileñas en los medios de comunicación portugueses

En este artículo comento la representación de la alteridad en los medios audiovisuales, enfatizando la representación del "no-occidental", de las mujeres y de la inmigración. A partir de este panorama, analizo género y nacionalidad con el ejemplo de la representación de las mujeres brasileñas en los medios de comunicación portugueses. Concluyo este texto señalando distintas formas de representación de la alteridad que buscan ultrapasar los tópicos, en lo que se suele nombrar la reflexividad en la Antropología Visual.In this paper I comment on the representation of alterity at the audiovisual media, emphasizing the representation of the "no-occidental", of women and of immigration. Departing from this background, I analyze gender and nationality in the representation of Brazilian women at the Portuguese media. I conclude this text pointing to different forms of representation of alterity that try to overcome prejudices, in what is usually called the reflexivity in the Visual Anthropology

Miller Fisher syndrome: a rare variant of Guillain-Barré syndrome

This report describes the case of a 39-year-old male patient who presented to the emergency room with complaints of impaired balance, diplopia, and nasal voice. The patient had a history of upper respiratory tract infection. The initial physical examination revealed ataxia, ophthalmoplegia, and areflexia, which are consistent with the classic triad of Miller Fisher syndrome, considered a benign variant of Guillain-Barré syndrome. The patient developed peripheral facial paralysis during hospitalization. He underwent a treatment with immunoglobulin for five days, resulting in near complete resolution of the ataxia. However, the ophthalmoplegia and areflexia persisted. He was discharged to outpatient follow-up

Mycobacterium bovis detection in slaughtered pigs in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil

The infection by the Mycobacterium genus is important in pig farming due to the economic losses caused by total or partial carcass condemnation in slaughterhouses. The present study investigated the occurrence of a tuberculosis outbreak in pigs, based on the identification of lesions at the slaughter line of a slaughterhouse. At the inspection line of the slaughterhouse, carcasses were identified with viscera containing macroscopic lesions that indicated tuberculosis (granulomatous lymphadenitis). Tracheobronchial, mesenteric, and submandibular lymph nodes were collected, as well as liver samples and their corresponding lymph nodes. The samples were sent to the Federal Agricultural Defense Laboratory (LFDA/RS) and processed for the diagnosis of tuberculosis and the molecular characterization of Mycobacterium bovis. Based on the results of post-mortem and laboratory inspections, the occurrence was characterized as a tuberculosis outbreak in pigs, which originated from a farm in the state of Rio Grande do Sul, Brazil. Over three months, three batches, adding up to 2884 animals, were sent to slaughter, of which 102 (3.5%) had tuberculosis-like lesions at the inspection line. Based on these results, the productive process was investigated, assessing the feeding, water supply, and milk whey offered in the diet of pigs. It was concluded that the outbreak was caused by feeding unpasteurized or inadequately pasteurized (insufficient time x temperature relation) whey to the pigs. The use of whey from cheese production is a frequent practice in the state of Rio Grande do Sul and one of the risk factors for granulomatous lymphadenitis in pigs

Les crítiques al quefer periodístic en referència a la representació audiovisual de les migracions van comportar la creació de recomanacions sobre el tractament de les migracions i ens com la Mesa per a la Diversitat en l'Audiovisual. Aquesta tesi doctoral analitza els programes divulgatius de no-ficció sobre l'experiència migratòria produïts per TV3 per tal d'identificar de quina manera les representacions de les dones migrades hi prenen forma, cercant els elements narratius, compositius, estilístics, visuals i verbals a través dels quals s'articula el discurs sobre aquestes dones.Las críticas al quehacer periodístico en referencia a la representación audiovisual de las migraciones comportaron la creación de recomendaciones sobre el tratamiento de las migraciones y entes como la Mesa para la Diversidad en lo Audiovisual. O Impacto do Desempenho Organizacional na Satisfação do Cliente: Uma Aplicação aos CTT - Correios de Portugal

A investigação de seguida apresentada corresponde ao final do curso de mestrado em Gestão das organizações. Com este estudo pretende-se analisar o impacto do Desempenho Organizacional na Satisfação do Cliente da organização Correios de Portugal, S.A (CTT). Entender a perceção dos clientes e as suas expectativas quanto ao serviço prestado pelos CTT, é crítico, para que ocorra a melhoria na performance da prestação do serviço ao cliente. Para concretização deste objetivo procedemos à revisão da literatura, sobre os temas desempenho organizacional e satisfação do cliente. Posteriormente, colocamos um inquérito destinado ao público – alvo dos CTT, com questões sustentadas na revisão da literatura, para que deste modo, possamos identificar e averiguar quais os fatores a avaliar, para obter uma melhor prestação dos serviços, podendo assim adotar estratégias para uma melhor performance e consequentemente criar satisfação para o cliente.The research presented below corresponds to the end of the master’s course in Organizational Management. This study aims to analyze the impact of Organizational Performance on Customer Satisfaction of the organization Correios de Portugal, S.A (CTT). Understanding the perception of customers and their expectations regarding the service provided by CTT is critical, in order to improve the performance of the service provided to the customer. In order to achieve this objective, we carried out a literature review on the topics of organizational performance and customer satisfaction. Subsequently, we put a survey aimed at CTT's target audience, with questions based on the literature review, so that we can identify and find out which factors to evaluate, in order to obtain a better provision of services, thus being able to adopt strategies for a better service. better performance and consequently create customer satisfaction

Promovendo a diversidade? A representação das mulheres migradas na televisão pública da Catalunha (TV3)

The audiovisual representation of the migrations is a strongly discussed theme in Europe of these last years. In the Spanish case, as a consequence to the strong critics to the treatment that the media dispenses to the collective mi­grated, there have been created ethic recommendations and even entities such as the Table for the Diversity in the Audiovisual productions trying to improve the content of the representations of the migrations. Although apparently these measures have not radically altered the television news reports, new proposals of approximation to the migra­tory phenomena can be observed. The programs of non-fiction scientific divulgation about the migration experience represent an innovative tendency in the television programming both Catalonian and Spanish. In this article we analyze the representations about the migrated women in this kind of programs broadcast by the TV3 channel which in 2006 created, internally, a Commission for the Diversity.A representação audiovisual das migrações é um tema muito debatido na Europa dos últimos anos. No caso espa­nhol, como consequência às fortes críticas ao tratamento que a mídia dispensa aos coletivos migrados, foram criadas recomendações éticas e até mesmo entidades como a Mesa para a Diversidade no Audiovisual, numa tentativa de melhorar o teor das representações sobre as migrações. Apesar de que aparentemente estas medidas não chegaram a alterar radicalmente os noticiários televisivos, podem ser observadas novas propostas de aproximação ao fenômeno migratório. O principal objetivo é apreender qual era a posição ocupada pelos livros e bibliotecas no interior da sociedade de Castro (e brasileira), e com isso aproximar os livros e as pessoas. As fontes de estudo são as informações que trazem os inventários post mortem, redigidos na cidade entre 1800 e 1870; e o Relatório da Diretoria da Biblioteca da Cidade de Castro de 1878. A análise dos inventários segue o seguinte procedimento: a. Apreender as características da cidade de Castro no século XIX, para situar a sociedade em estudo; b. Identificar os proprietários de livros no período e região considerados; c. Traçar um perfil destes proprietários, considerando o universo sociocultural no qual estavam inseridos. No que concerne ao Relatório da Biblioteca, identificamos um grupo de homens que criou uma biblioteca, em forma de sociedade, e apesar das dificuldades, fomentaram o acesso e a leitura dos livros pelos frequentadores do local.Abstract: The subject of this research is the history of books or the history of the printed word in the society of Castro (PR) in the nineteenth century. The main purpose is to understand what was the position occupied by books and libraries within the society of Castro (and Brazilian), and thereby bring books and people closer. The sources of the study are the information that brings the post mortem inventories written in the town between 1800 and 1870; and the City of Castro Library Administration Report of 1878. The analysis of the lists follows the next procedure: a. Apprehend the characteristics of the city of Castro in the nineteenth century in order to situate society under study; b. Identify the owners of books in the period and area considered; c. Trace a profile of these owners, considering the socio-cultural universe in which they were inserted. Regarding the Library Report, we identified a group of men who created a library in the form of society and despite the difficulties, promoted access and reading of books by local attendees
