Risco de estresse hídrico para o milho cultivado em Chapecó durante eventos de La Ninã Modoki e Canônico

Curso de Agronomia.Com o objetivo de avaliar o risco de estresse hídrico para o milho (Zea mays) cultivado em Chapecó (Santa Catarina) durante eventos da La Niña Modoki e Canônico. Foram utilizados dados climáticos diários de chuva, temperatura máxima e mínima do ar, umidade relativa, velocidade do vento e insolação, de 1983 até 2014. Com exceção da chuva, os demais dados meteorológicos foram utilizados para estimar a evapotranspiração de referência (ET0) com o uso do software Cropwat 8.0. O risco de estresse hídrico por falta de água para o ciclo e período crítico do milho em anos de La Niña Modoki e Canônico foi avaliado pelo Índice de Estresse Hídrico da Cultura (CWSI – Crop Water Stress Index), além do Índice de Precipitação Padronizado (SPI) para avaliar a seca meteorológica. Conclui-se que a condição hídrica para o ciclo e a fase mais crítica do milho é em média de ‘adequada’ a ‘favorável’ durante eventos da La Niña Modoki e Canônica, para cultivos em solos de textura média e argilosa na região de Chapecó. Não houve diferença na condição hídrica do milho em anos de La Niña em relação aos anos neutros.The objective of this study was to evaluate the water stress risk for maize (Zea mays) cultivated in Chapecó (Santa Catarina) during La Niña Modoki and Canônico events. Daily rainfall, maximum and minimum air temperature, relative humidity, wind speed and sunshine were used from 1983 to 2014. With exception of rainfall, other meteorological data were used to estimate the reference evapotranspiration (ET0) with the use of Cropwat 8.0 software. The risk of water stress due to lack of water for the cycle and critical period of maize in La Niña Modoki and Canônico years was evaluated by the Crop Water Stress Index (CWSI), in addition to the Standardized Precipitation Index (SPI) to evaluate the meteorological drought. Concluded that the water condition for the cycle and the most critical phase of maize is on the average from 'adequate' to 'favorable' during La Niña Modoki and Canônica events, for soils with sandy loam and clayey texture in the region of Chapecó. There was no difference in the water condition of maize in years of La Niña in relation to the neutral years

Desenvolvimento de um plano de segurança alimentar para carne de bovino com base na metodologia de HACCP

Este trabalho teve como objetivo implementar um sistema de segurança alimentar em dois Talhos situados em Bragança. A metodologia de Análise de Perigos e Pontos Críticos de Controlo (HACCP) foi utilizada para identi car os perigos especí cos e as medidas preventivas necessárias para o seu controlo. Esta metodologia baseia-se numa abordagem sistemática, documentada e veri cável, pelo que é possível aplicá-la a todas as fases da cadeia alimentar. A aplicação do HACCP deve ser precedido pela implementação das boas práticas de fabrico e de higiene, bem como programas de pré- requisitos para controlar os perigos especí cos das instalações. No estudo HACCP foram identi cados quatro pontos de controlo essencial, para minimizar o perigo, a saber: recepção das carnes frescas, armazenamento das carnes em refrigeração, picagem das carnes e exposição em refrigeração. Com este trabalho foi possível identi car potenciais perigos associados à distribuição de carne, esta informação será utilizada pela administração dos talhos para prevenir a ocorrência de doenças de origem alimentar. This study aimed to implement a food safety system in two butcheries, to ensure the safety of their meat products. The methodology of Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP), internationally accepted for the implementation of food safety systems, was used to identify speci c hazards points and preventive measures for their control. This methodology is based on a systematic approach, documented and veri able, that can be applied to all stages of the food chain. The application of HACCP is supposed to be preceded by the implementation of good manufacturing and hygiene practices, as well as a prerequisites program to control speci c hazards of the facilities. Thus, this HACCP study was able to identify four critical points where control is essential in order to minimize the danger, namely: at fresh meat reception, meat refrigeration during storage, meat chopping and during exposure. In all these points, it is essential to control both parameters time and temperature. This work was able to identify potential hazards points associated with meat dsitribution, which can be used by the butcheries administration to prevent the occurrence of foodborne diseases

O efeito da microbiota na metabolização dos fármacos

Atualmente a curiosidade e interesse pela microbiota intestinal tem crescido imenso devido às novas descobertas associadas à descoberta de novas funções e doenças. O conceito de microbiota humano foi sugerido pela primeira vez por Joshua Lederberg, que definiu microbiota como “comunidade ecológica de comensais, simbióticos e microrganismos que residem no corpo humano”. O desenvolvimento de técnicas analíticas inovadoras permitiu a identificação e compreensão das funções do microbioma humano. O microbioma humano é complexo e altamente dinâmico, sendo que varia drasticamente entre os indivíduos. A microbiota intestinal desempenha um papel crítico no metabolismo de certos fármacos, sendo que a sua variação contribui para as diferenças interindividuais em relação a terapias medicamentosas. O progresso contínuo nesta área permite conhecer mais ferramentas para prever as possíveis respostas dos pacientes a tratamentos, levando ao desenvolvimento de uma nova geração de terapêuticas baseadas ou direcionadas ao microbioma intestinal. Esta revisão bibliográfica foi realizada no sentido de apresentar uma visão global das descobertas recentes associados ao impacto da microbiota intestinal na saúde e doença humana, bem como expor potenciais alterações nos fármacos decorrentes da sua manipulação para potenciar melhorias num futuro recente.Currently, curiosity and interest in the intestinal microbiota has grown immensely due to new discoveries associated with the discovery of new functions and diseases. The concept of human microbiota was first suggested by Joshua Lederberg, who defined microbiota as "ecological community of diners, symbiotics and microorganisms that reside in the human body". The development of innovative analytical techniques allowed the identification and understanding of the functions of the human microbiome. The human microbiome is complex and highly dynamic, and it varies dramatically between individuals. The intestinal microbiota plays a critical role in the metabolism of certain drugs, and its variation contributes to the inter-individual differences in relation to drug therapies. Continued progress in this area could enable more precise tools for predicting patient responses and for the development of a new generation of therapeutics based on, or targeted at, the gut microbiome. This work was developed in order to present an overview of the recent discoveries associated with the impact of the gut microbiota in human health and disease, as well as to expose the potential therapeutic approaches deriving from its manipulation to enhance improvements in the recent future

Do pianists play with their Teeth?

The aim of this study was to find out whether the masticatory and postural muscles are used by pianists during their music performances. The study also aimed to ascertain whether the complex neuromuscular activity involved in the act of playing the piano also encourages hyperactivity in terms of the masticatory muscles. The bio-electric potentials of the masticatory and postural muscles of 20 pianists were recorded. The electromyographical figures obtained from regarding the temporal and masseter muscles are much higher than those recorded when in the resting position. These registrations, which are not the same as those obtained, for example, when the individuals are chewing hard food such as a carrot, are nonetheless indicative of daily parafunctional activity in musicians who often study for as much as 7 hours per day

O realismo maravilhoso em Terra sonâmbula de Mia Couto

Mestrado em Estudos PortuguesesEste trabalho tem por objectivo o estudo do realismo maravilhoso no romance Terra Sonâmbula de Mia Couto. Numa primeira parte, propusemo-nos a clarificar a origem do conceito realismo mágico, para, de seguida, abordar a sua proliferação na literatura europeia e latino-americana. Numa outra etapa, definimos o conceito de realismo maravilhoso e a sua adaptação quer à realidade sul-americana, quer à realidade Africana. Numa segunda parte, procedemos à análise da obra seleccionada, pretendendo demonstrar que as técnicas de construção usadas por Mia Couto eram inspiradas no realismo maravilhoso. Finalmente, abordámos o imaginário africano em Terra Sonâmbula, procurando demonstrar que, também ele, tem características dessa tendência literária definida por Irlemar Chiampi.The present work aims the study of the marvelous realism with high visibility in Terra Sonâmbula of Mia Couto. In the first section, we have provided an elucidatory approach to the origin of the concept referred to as magical realism. In view of the extensive literary production, both European and Latin American, we have taken it as the starting point to disentangle the terminologicall complexity embedded on it. We have also defined the concept of marvelous realism and its adjustment to Latin American and African reality. In the second section, we have developed a thorough analysis of the selected literary work, aspiring to demonstrate the construction of the marvelous realism, which supported the writing process of Mia Couto. Lastly, we have demonstrated that Irlemar Chiampi has provided inspiration for the African imaginary in Terra Sonâmbula
