Integrating Externally Developed Systems For SNS Linac Cooling And Vacuum
External contractors are developing the local cooling and vacuum control
systems for the Spallation Neutron Source (SNS) linac. Soon these systems will
be integrated into the facility-wide controls system. Allen-Bradley Logix5000
series programmable controllers, populated with appropriate input/output
modules, were selected as the local controllers. These controllers will be
interfaced to the facility-wide control system via VME systems with PowerPC
processors running the Wind River VxWorks operating system and Experimental
Physics and Industrial Control System (EPICS) front-end controller software.
This paper describes the interface and integration issues driven by project,
cooling system and vacuum system requirements and hardware selections.Comment: This paper for the ICALEPCS 2001 conference, San Jose, CA, USA,

Optimization of the Two-Baseline Beta-Beam
We propose a -Beam experiment with four source ions and two baselines
for the best possible sensitivity to , CP violation and mass
hierarchy. Neutrinos from Ne and He with Lorentz boost
are detected in a 500 kton water \chr detector at a distance L=650 km from the
source. Neutrinos from B and Li are detected in a 50 kton magnetized
iron detector at a distance L=7000 km from the source. Since a tilt angle
is required to send the beam to the magic baseline, the
far end of the ring has a maximum depth of m. We alleviate this
problem by proposing to trade reduction of the decay ring with the increase in
the boost factor of the Li and B ions up to
and , such that the
number of events at the detector remains almost the same. We study the
sensitivity reach of this two-baseline two-storage ring -Beam
experiment, and compare it with the corresponding reach of the other proposed
facilities.Comment: 5 pages. Based on the talk given at Nufact09, Chicago, July 20-25,

Spanish Treatises on Musica Practica c. 1480-1525: Reflections from a Cultural Perspective
Optimization of a method for preparing solid complexes of essential clove oil with beta-cyclodextrins
Essential CO was successfully solubilized in aqueous solution by forming inclusion complexes with beta-cyclodextrins (beta-CDs). Moreover, phase solubility studies demonstrated that essential CO also forms insoluble complexes with beta-CDs. Based on these results, essential CO-beta-CD solid complexes were prepared by the novel approach of microwave irradiation (MWI) followed by three different drying methods: vacuum oven drying (VO), freeze drying (FD) or spray drying (SD). Quantification of the solid complexes formed pointed to the not involving heat, FD, as the best drying method, followed by VO and SD, which led to significantly lower amounts of encapsulated essential CO.Ciencias de la Alimentació
Analysis of the Natura 2000 Networks in Sweden and Spain
In this paper the main differences between Natura 2000 Network in Sweden and Spain are analyzed. Comparing different documents at different levels: European, national and regional, the author aims to understand which strategies have been taken in both countries regarding the implementation, management, funding and social reactions of Natura 2000 Network and verify whether in a common Europe the differences in the understanding of environmental common policy are decisive and define the implementation process. The results can clearly show that such differences occur in practically the total issues analyzed. Sweden could be characterized by its orderly and homogeneous implementation process with a close communication between public administration and stakeholders that have influenced all the process. As a result its Natura 2000 Network has marked differences on distribution and size in its Natura sites. Spain, however, shows a heterogeneous and complicated process characterized for both the disinformation due to the lack of communication with the stakeholders and controversial legislative measures which caused social reactions against this network. In contrast it seems that the criteria followed for the sites selection were less influenced by stakeholders. As a conclusion environmental Directives transpositions are being fulfilled with different criteria having as a result significant differences in their final objective
