Hironaka’s concept of characteristic polyhedron of a singularity has been one of the most powerful and fruitful ideas of the last decades in singularity theory. In fact, since then combinatorics have become a major tool in many important results. However, this seminal concept is still not enough to cope with some effective problems: for instance, giving a bound on the maximum number of blowing–ups to be performed on a surface before its multiplicity decreases. Virtual Environment for the Training of the Hands in Minimally Invasive Thoracic Surgery

The hand and eye coordination of the surgeon is one of the most important factor minimally invasive thoracic surgery. Virtual Simulation is a powerful training tool in surgery. At present, the main problems of the learning process are to reduce the learning time and to improve specific skills by the simulation. There are different options to perform tests: working with animals, with artificial tissues to simulate the pressure, and even simulators through joystick. The main disadvantage is the high cost of this systems and the complexity to replicate the situation during a real operations. In this paper, a virtual reality system is presented. This system allows to reduce the learning time and to improve the hand and eye coodination of the surgeon. Moreover, it is a low cost, portable and easy-to-use solution for future surgeons

Análisis vial en la intersección de la avenida Pakamuros con calle Mariano Melgar en la ciudad de Jaén - Cajamarca

El presente trabajo tuvo como objetivo, realizar el análisis vial de la intersección de la Avenida Pakamuros con Calle Mariano Melgar – Jaén para plantear alternativas de solución de mejora del tránsito, para diagnosticar el panorama actual, obtener parámetros y proyectar soluciones. El diseño del estudio fue del tipo cuantitativa y no experimental. Por tanto, a través del “Manual de Dispositivos de Control de Tránsito Automotor para Calles y Carreteras” y el software Synchro 8.0 estando basado en el Highway Capacity Manual (HCM), obtener valores en la situación actual, dando una demora de 87.6 segundos y nivel de servicio “F”; posteriormente se planteó dos propuestas de solución. La primera basada en la puesta y optimización semafórica, brindando como resultado una mejora, con una demora de 16.1 segundos y nivel de servicio “B”; y la segunda centrada en suprimir el giro caótico a la izquierda del acceso norte (Avenida Pakamuros) y con, puesta y optimización de semáforos, la cual resultó un beneficio del servicio con una demora de 12.1 segundos y nivel de servicio “B”. De los resultados de las soluciones planteadas se concluye que en la intersección ocurre una buena sincronía y ciclos cortos, lo cual mejora el tránsito.The objective of this study was to perform a road analysis of the intersection of Avenida Pakamuros with Calle Mariano Melgar - Jaén in order to propose alternative solutions to improve traffic flow, diagnose the current situation, obtain parameters and project solutions. The study design was quantitative and non-experimental. Therefore, through the ""Manual of Automotive Traffic Control Devices for Streets and Highways"" and the Synchro 8.0 software being based on the Highway Capacity Manual (HCM), to obtain values in the current situation, giving a delay of 87.6 seconds and service level ""F""; subsequently, two solution proposals were proposed. The first one was based on the setting and optimization of traffic lights, resulting in an improvement, with a delay of 16.1 seconds and service level ""B""; and the second one focused on eliminating the chaotic left turn at the north access (Pakamuros Avenue) and with the setting and optimization of traffic lights, which resulted in a service benefit with a delay of 12.1 seconds and service level ""B"". Attitudes toward sexual diversity in sport among undergraduate students of physical activity and sport sciences in Spain

Producción CientíficaSexual diversity in the world of sport has not been widely researched in the Spanish context. Studies on national and international sexual diversity tend to leave out transgender issues and intersexuality. The new framework of action of the International Olympic Committee in 2021 advocates for integration and non-discrimination based on gender identity and sex variations in sport. We analyzed attitudes toward sexual diversity in sport among a sample of PASS university students using the Scale of Attitudes Toward Sexual Diversity Among Athletes and the statistical package R. Each item was subjected to frequency analysis and the results were displayed in contingency tables. The sample comprised 610 students from three Spanish universities (68.85% male and 31.15% female, with a mean age of 21.72 years; SD = 4.12). Of the four factors analyzed, the lowest levels of rejection were Cognitive Attitudes (96.72%) and Attitudes Toward Transgression (86.89%). Adaptive Domotic System in Green Buildings

This paper presents an adaptive domotic system in green buildings. In our case, the data of sensor and devices were controlled in CIESOL center. The adaptive domotic system uses a Fuzzy Lattice Reasoning classifier for predicting building energy performance depending on the user condition. Training and testing of classifiers were carried out with temperature condition data acquired for 4 months (February, May, July and November) in the case building called CIESOL. The results show a hihg accuracy rates with a mean absolute error between 0% and 0.21%

Family business, which is dedicated to sale technical articles for the areas of art, surveying, architecture and engineering (hence its name). Main purpose of paper is to propose governing structures, succession and retirement plans, using best practices for family businesses, to improve management efficiency and guarantee business continuity. Document is divide in five main chapters structured as follows: First chapter entitled Generalities covers company background, approach, research problem, justification, objectives, closing with scope and limitations. Second chapter is the Theoretical Framework which focus on explaining relevant theoretical elements in topics of: family business, roles, decision making, conflict management, perspectives, governance bodies, governance structures, leadership, succession, professionalization and research methodology. Chapter three is Methodological Framework which explains procedures and instruments used during development of the project. It details information gathering tools used internally within the company and how results were used to approach the proposals. Chapter four called Diagnosis focus on aspects within the company and family, specifically on aspects relevant to governance structures, retirement plans and succession, concluding with presentation of strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and Threats (SWOT). Once diagnosis is made, Proposals are elaborated in chapter five, which outlines practices, governing bodies, succession, retirement plans and roles for the business family.
