This is a critical assessment of today presentations of Jesus of Nazareth’ Kingdom of God in so-called historical-exegetical books. Three of them are selected for a minute criticism. It follows a brief exegesis of all then important Gospel texts about the Kingdom of God as a «future event» or as «present» and «already come» in Jesus ministry. After a close scrutiny, only one Gospel passage (Luke 17:20-21) can be used with some doubts for sustaining that Jesus has proclaimed a Kingdom of God already present. The article concludes with a brief exposition of the conceptions of the historical Jesus view about the Kingdom, and some consequences for the modern transpositions of his view.

Segmentation of bone structures in 3D CT images based on continuous max- ow optimization

    Get PDF
In this paper an algorithm to carry out the automatic segmentation of bone structures in 3D CT images has been implemented. Automatic segmentation of bone structures is of special interest for radiologists and surgeons to analyze bone diseases or to plan some surgical interventions. This task is very complicated as bones usually present intensities overlapping with those of surrounding tissues. This overlapping is mainly due to the composition of bones and to the presence of some diseases such as Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis, etc. Moreover, segmentation of bone structures is a very time-consuming task due to the 3D essence of the bones. Usually, this segmentation is implemented manually or with algorithms using simple techniques such as thresholding and thus providing bad results. In this paper gray information and 3D statistical information have been combined to be used as input to a continuous max- ow algorithm. Twenty CT images have been tested and di erent coe cients have been computed to assess the performance of our implementation. Dice and Sensitivity values above 0.91 and 0.97 respectively were obtained. A comparison with Level Sets and thresholding techniques has been carried out and our results outperformed them in terms of accuracy.Ministerio de ciencia e innovación TEC2010-21619-C04-02Junta de Andalucía P11-TIC-772

Differences in the Long-term Progression Course of Two Cases of Pellucid-like Keratoconus: Are they the Same Condition with Different Phenotypic Presentation?

    Get PDF
We report the long-term follow-up of two cases of untreated corneal ectasia presenting a crab claw-like sagittal and tangential topographic pattern at baseline, but without peripheral thinning. Currently, according to clinical examination, these two cases are diagnosed as pellucid-like keratoconus (PLK). The first case was a 58-year-old male who developed a true pellucid marginal degeneration (PMD) in one eye and with a nonprogressive PLK in the other eye. The second case presented was a 19-year-old male without clinical signs of ectasia at baseline that progressed to PLK with evident changes in topographic and pachymetric maps but maintaining the point of minimum corneal thickness (MCT) in the central area. The presence of two different conditions in the same patient (case 1) and the progression from inferosuperior asymmetry to the development of a crab claw-pattern (case 2) suggest that PMD, PLK, and keratoconus may be different phenotypic presentations of the same pathophysiological condition. The author David P Piñero has been supported by the Ministry of Economy, Industry and Competitiveness of Spain within the program Ramón y Cajal, RYC-2016-20471

Paul does not get his “inexhaustible and mind-blowing fantasy” the conception neither of a possible pre-existent Messiah nor that of a full human being, who after his dead is exalted by God to the rank of Messianic judge, Lord and Messiah, founder of the divine Kingdom. On the other hand, Pauline reflection upon the nature of the Messiah is in line with a fully Jewish thought, which continues in Rabbinical times thereafter. On the other hand, it confirms the deep and irreconcilable difference between the historical Jesus, which can be reasonable and critically deduced from the reading of the Gospels, and the heavenly Christ. The first one, reduced to its fair terms by critical research, is a figure of the 1st century history of Israel which perfectly fits in it and whose existence cannot be denied. The second one is a theological constructum which only belongs to the field of Jewish and Christian theology and not to the realm of history.

    Get PDF

Once again on Petrine «Great Church»

The creation of the New Testament, and also the unification of the variegated panorama of the diverse theological trends in the early Christian times, is ordinarily attributed within the confessional New Testament research circles to the existence of a "Great unified and ‘unifying’ Church", grouped under the aegis of Peter. This article discusses the real existence of such a Church, and holds that the only ‘unified and unifying Church’ of the first Christian moments was the Pauline one. This contention is supported by the analysis of the New Testament as a whole and three other main arguments

The pedagogical importance of evacuation drills in schools as a means of increasing the preventive culture in Spain

    Get PDF
[ENG] Education centres in general represent one of the places in which safety becomes something totally essential, due to the special vulnerability of children. The normal day-to-day practice of a school, supposes a series of risks and therefore it is important for the Educational Community to work actively to ensure that the school environment is as safe as possible. Of all the possible risks, fire is perhaps one of the most feared by society, and it is also that which is most likely to occur. The Educational Community in general, should be aware that the spreading of a correct preventive culture, has as its starting point the “Educational Centre” (Lewis, 2009), and it is of vital importance that this prevention culture, reaches all the pupils and teachers in order to be able to increase the level of prevention in schools and to achieve important progress in this matter at a social level. The schools must be prepared to react correctly when faced with any emergency situation that may arise and thus, if it is important to carry out annual evacuation drills, it is even more determinant that the pupils receive adequate prevention training
