Drug screening in human plasma by cloud-point extraction and HPLC

    Get PDF
Cloud-point extraction (CPE) with RP-HPLC/DAD detection was used to develop a screen for six model basic drugs (paracetamol, promazine, amitriptyline, nortriptyline, clomipramine and chlorpromazine) in human plasma. These drugs’ varied hydrophobicities entail different affinities for the micelle-rich phase and CPE extraction efficiencies. Extraction recovery (except paracetamol) was above 80% and reproducibility (RSD%) ranged from 2.88 to 10.26 intraday and from 3.12 to 12.33 interday. The limits of detection were: 0.125 μg mL -1 (promazine and chlorpromazine), 0.25 μg mL -1 (amitriptyline and nortriptyline) and 0.5 μg mL -1 (paracetamol and clomipramine). The method was linear over the ranges: 0.125 -1.0 μg mL -1 (promazine and chlorpromazine), 0.25-1.0 μg mL -1 (amitriptyline and nortriptyline), 0.5-1.0 μg mL -1 (clomipramine) and 0.5-10 μg mL -1 (paracetamol). The procedure is a good alternative to the SPE or LLE sample preparation usually used

The study describes the overlap of arrangements of administrative sanctions in the Law No. 12 of 2011 with the construction of administrative sanctions in the Local Regulation of Bali Province No. 2 of 2012. The arrangements of administrative sanctions according to Law No. 12 of 2011 are stipulated in appendix II number 64 which stipulates that the substance in the form of administrative sanctions or civil sanctions for the violation of these norms are formulated into one part (chapter) with the norms that impose administrative sanctions or civil sanctions, and in appendix II number 65 which regulates if there is more than one norm that provides administrative or civil sanctions, administrative sanctions or civil sanctions are formulated in the last chapter of the section. Thus, it does not formulate the provision of sanctions that also contains criminal sanctions, civil penalties and administrative sanctions in one chapter. The arrangements of administrative sanctions in the Local Regulation of Bali Province No. 2 of 2012 are stipulated in Chapter XIV of Article 33 paragraph (1), (2), and (3), thus it is contrary to the provisions of Appendix II of Law of the Republic of Indonesia Number 12 of 2011 numbers 64 and 65

Economic and Performance Analysis of Dual-bay Vertical Lift Modules

Warehouse picking is one of the most time and cost consuming activities in a warehouse, often requiring the presence of human operators, who travel within the aisles to retrieve the items needed by the customers. Several studies demonstrate that the travelling activity can represent even the 50% of the total picking time, with a subsequent creation of a separate storage and picking area for small objects. In the last years, new solutions for order picking systems have been developed, especially for small items. One of these solutions requires Vertical Lift Modules (VLMs), storage columns with extractable trays. In this paper, the employ of dual-bay VLMs, compared to a carton racks warehouse, has been analysed from an economic point of view. Some mathematical formulations have been developed, to estimate the total annual cost and the respective convenience limits of both systems, according to their productivity. Moreover, some useful guidelines for practitioners are derived

Design of AGV systems in working environments shared with humans: A multi case study

To meet the challenges and needs of an ever-changing market and as part of the fourth industrial revolution, factories are transforming into increasingly automated environments. A widely used and well-established solution today is Automated Guided Vehicles (AGVs), which often work closely with humans in crowded environments. Thus, in addition to flexibility, another important criterion associated with automatic handling systems is safety. The purpose of this work is to show how the involvement of three different but equally important roles in the design of an AGV system can benefit the whole project. The advantage of considering three different perspectives is the possibility of obtaining a more complete vision from the earliest stages of implementation, avoiding, as far as possible, the need to make changes in the next stages, which would generate higher costs than necessary. The article is based on two case studies, each one set in a major European manufacturing company: the first one is an Italian automotive manufacturer and the second one is a Swedish manufacturer of mechanical components. Both case companies apply AGVs in their material handling processes and, accordingly, have experience of both implementing and operating AGV systems. The article applies semi-structured interviews to study the three key roles, highlighting the key points for each role and showing the common issues that emerged from the interviews
