Literatura engajada

This article calls into question the “politically engaged literature”, which has returned to dominate part of contemporary literature. It examines the historical itinerary and the theoretical assumptions of this tendency, that now is based in the discussion about identity and place of speech, debatable concepts when talking about literature. In this way, through several critics and writers, such as Jean-Paul Sartre, Albert Camus, Theodor W. Adorno, Joseph Conrad, Clarice Lispector, Kasereka Kavwahirehi and others, will be reconstituted the differences between the engagement and a vision that values and finds the strength of literature not for its political aspect, but for its works with (in) language. Being capable of expressing feelings, motivations and actions that are common to humanity, literature is a powerful way of bringing people of diverse ethnicities and cultures in contact.O presente artigo coloca em questão a “literatura engajada”, que voltou a dominar parte da literatura contemporânea. Examina o percurso histórico e os pressupostos teóricos dessa tendência, que agora se apoia na discussão sobre identidade e lugar de fala, conceitos discutíveis quando se fala de literatura. Desse modo, através de diversos críticos e escritores, como Jean-Paul Sartre, Albert Camus, Theodor W. Adorno, Joseph Conrad, Clarice Lispector e Kasereka Kavwahirehi, entre outros, serão reconstituídas as diferenças entre o engajamento e uma visão que valoriza e encontra a força da literatura não apenas por sua temática, mas pelo seu trabalho com (e na) linguagem. Sendo capaz de expressar sentimentos, motivações e ações que são comuns à humanidade, a literatura é uma forma poderosa de pôr em contato pessoas de diversas etnias e culturas

Os heróis da literatura

In the last decades the hypothesis of "the end of literature" has been put forward. It actually concerns the end of one kind of literature, that of high modernity. At the same time, many novels were published whose main character is a famous writer from the end of the 19th century or the first half of 20th: Rimbaud, Flaubert, Dostoievsky, Henry James, Virginia Woolf, Pessoa and others. The aim of this article is to examine the causes and the features of these particular novels. Do "post-modern" writers look at their predecessors as heroes and models? Are they mourning a brighter phase of literature and comparing it with the current one? What is the relation between this kind of fiction and the old biographies? What are the formal contributions of this new sub-gender?Nas últimas décadas, tem sido aventada a hipótese do "fim da literatura". Na verdade, trata-se do fim de um tipo de literatura, o da alta modernidade. Ao mesmo tempo, apareceram e multiplicaram-se romances cuja principal personagem é um escritor famoso do fim do século XIX ou primeira metade do XX: Rimbaud, Flaubert, Dostoiévski, Henry James, Virginia Woolf, Pessoa e outros. O objetivo deste artigo é examinar as causas e as características desse tipo de romance. Os escritores "pós-modernos" veem seus predecessores como heróis e modelos? Fazem o luto de uma fase áurea da literatura e comparam-na com a literatura atual? Qual a relação desses romances com as antigas biografias? Quais as novidades formais desse novo subgênero
