    Optimizing Phase Settings of High-Frequency Voltage Regulators for Power Delivery Applications

    Every new computer server introduced to the market aims at delivering the best tradeoff between performance and power consumption. This goal is crucial in the case of servers for cloud computing hardware infrastructure. In this context, power delivery (PD) experts are adopting higher frequency switching voltage regulators (VR) to reduce platform’s cost as well as total cost of ownership (TCO). Because of this fact, the real estate of components, such as voltage regulators and output inductors, is shrinking as VR frequency increases. As a consequence, achieving the best performance of the VR implies looking into phase shedding schemes, as well as EM coupled inductor design, among other techniques, to mitigate power losses. This paper focuses on the study of the best angle arrangement possible for high frequency VR applications, by exploring angle settings under light load scenarios, aiming to minimize VR’s power loss and output’s voltage ripple

    In the last few years, the introduction of microarrays in the diagnosis of type I allergy is allowing the clinicians to have a much more accurate picture of their allergenic profile. However, the simultaneous measurement of specific IgE to multiple molecules can show unexpected sensitisations, without knowing their clinical relevance. For instance, we have been observing a high prevalence (74%) of sensitisation to Act d 2 (the thaumatin of kiwifruit) in patients sensitised to Alt a 1 (major allergen of Alternaria alternata) with a confirmed allergy to this mould. The aim of the present study was to clarify if there was any clinical relevance in this finding

    Dissociable Effects of Executive Load on Perceived Exertion and Emotional Valence during Submaximal Cycling

    Endurance physical exercise is accompanied by subjective perceptions of exertion (reported perceived exertion, RPE), emotional valence, and arousal. These constructs have been hypothesized to serve as the basis for the exerciser to make decisions regarding when to stop, how to regulate pace, and whether or not to exercise again. In dual physical-cognitive tasks, the mental (executive) workload generated by the cognitive task has been shown to influence these perceptions, in ways that could also influence exercise-related decisions. In the present work, we intend to replicate and extend previous findings that manipulating the amount of executive load imposed by a mental task, performed concomitantly with a submaximal cycling session, influenced emotional states but not perceived exertion. Participants (experienced triathletes) were asked to perform a submaximal cycling task in two conditions with different executive demands (a two-back version of the n-back task vs. oddball) but equated in external physical load. Results showed that the higher executive load condition elicited more arousal and less positive valence than the lower load condition. However, both conditions did not differ in RPE.     Parámetros ecocardiográficos de cardiopatía auricular y detección de fibrilación auricular en el ictus criptogénico

    Sr, Editor: Los ictus cardioembólicos representan un 20-30% del total de los ictus isquémicos. Con la introducción en 2014 del término «ESUS» o «ictus embólico de origen indeterminado» y ante el importante número de ictus criptogénicos no lacunares, la hipótesis de una fuente embólica no conocida ha llevado a una búsqueda exhaustiva. Esta incluye la monitorización cardiaca prolongada, lo que aumenta la sensibilidad para identificar arritmias proembolígenas paroxísticas. Si bien en un inicio no se conocía la capacidad de dichos paroxismos cardiacos para ocasionar eventos isquémicos, estudios paralelos sobre la fisiopatología del ictus cardioembólico han demostrado que fibrilaciones auriculares (FA) paroxísticas de 5-6 min ya aumentan el riesgo de ictus. La escasa duración de estos episodios y el hecho de que puedan ser asintomáticos y distanciados del momento del cuadro neurológico explican su inclusión durante el ingreso hospitalario en el conjunto de ictus de etiología indeterminada. La heterogeneidad de dicho grupo, junto con el limitado uso de la monitorización cardiaca prolongada, ya sea por mala tolerancia de los pacientes o por la escasez y disparidad de los dispositivos, ha incentivado la búsqueda de parámetros que se correlacionen con mayor incidencia de FA con el objetivo de aumentar la rentabilidad de la prueba. Estos parámetros incluyen aspectos electrocardiográficos, bioquímicos y ecocardiográficos, y en el análisis de muchos de ellos se ha visto su relación, no solo con la FA, sino también su asociación directa con ictus isquémicos o recurrencias..

    Effect of binary raw materials replacement (quartz and feldspar) for porcelain chamotte on the electro-technical siliceous porcelain properties

    The hurry for ecological practices and waste control has emerged as an obligation in modern times, demanding precise strategies to restrain waste accumulation and to stimulate recycling and reuse actions to lower the climate effect. The replacement of binary raw materials for porcelain chamotte waste in siliceous porcelain was studied to obtain eco-friendly high-voltage porcelain. Quartz and feldspar were progressively replaced by 5, 10, and 15 wt.% of porcelain chamotte in a conventional siliceous electro-technical porcelain composition. The replacement effect on sintered samples at 1250°C under industrial heat treatment was evaluated by measuring the linear shrinkage, bulk density, porosity, flexural strength, and microhardness technological properties. Phase analysis was carried out by X-ray diffraction. Microstructural characteristics were studied using a scanning electron microscope. The results showed that chamotte-containing samples reached bulk densities of about 2.36 g/cm3 and a porosity percentage near zero. The maximum flexural strength value at glazed states was 87.8 MPa, for 15 wt.% scrap-containing samples. X-ray diffraction studies revealed a higher mullite phase content in chamotte-containing samples. Scanning electronic microscopy images of the polished and etched specimens show the presence of quartz grains and secondary mullite needles embedded in a feldspathic vitreous matrix. The properties reached by the chamotte-containing samples are attractive since the values obtained in terms of flexural strength, density, and porosity are compared to those reported for conventional siliceous porcelain were obtained. The most noticeable result was observed in flexural resistance. The glazed porcelain bodies showed a flexural strength improvement of about 15%. Then, these porcelain compositions suggest an alternative to produce a more sustainable, affordable, and environmentally-friendly porcelain insulator product

    High-pressure phase transitions and compressibility of wolframite-type tungstates

    This paper reports an investigation on the phase diagram and compressibility of wolframite-type tungstates by means of x-ray powder diffraction and absorption in a diamond-anvil cell and ab initio calculations. X-ray diffraction experiments show that monoclinic wolframite-type MgWO4 suffers at least two phase transitions, the first one being to a triclinic polymorph with a structure similar to that of CuWO4 and FeMoO4-II. The onset of each transition is detected at 17.1 and 31 GPa. In ZnWO4 the onset of the monoclinic-triclinic transition has been also found at 16.7 GPa. This transition does not involve any change in the atomic coordination as confirmed by x-ray absorption measurements. These findings are supported by density-functional theory calculations, which predict the occurrence of additional transitions upon further compression. Calculations have been also performed for wolframite-type MnWO4, which is found to have an antiferromagnetic configuration. In addition, our study reveals details of the local-atomic compression in MgWO4 and ZnWO4. In particular, below the transition pressure the ZnO6 and equivalent polyhedra tend to become more regular, whereas, the WO6 octahedra remain almost unchanged. Fitting the pressure-volume data we obtained the equation of state for the low-pressure phase of MgWO4 and ZnWO4. These and previous results on MnWO4 and CdWO4 are compared with the calculations. The compressibility of wolframite-type tungstates is also systematically discussed. Finally Raman spectroscopy measurements and lattice dynamics calculations are presented for MgWO4

    The project we are presenting has been designed for the Teaching physical education in English using CLIL (Content and Language Integrated Learning) methodology ICE group. The group is composed of a researcher and teachers of Physical education in CLIL that wanted to expand the resources in this area considering there are not enough. This group works together to create better materials for PE teachers that teach using the CLIL methodology. We've started from the very base after considering the needs of everyone in order to move forward with more quality materials. The effort and motivation all of them put in is reflected in this project. The first part of this project is about grammar structures, we've analyzed the different grammar structures for the six grades/levels of primary school, and we've created a guide so teachers can follow and get some ideas from it. Presented in this document is first the content related to every grade gathering parts like verbs, prepositions, adjectives and question words and it has been chosen from the teachers according to the curriculum they are teaching in their schools. Following this are examples related to this content that have been created by us in various meetings throughout the year. In the examples portion we've tried to apply physical education content so it could facilitate their use
