    Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memahami dan mengkaji pengaturan hukum tentang sistem Pengupahan menurut UU No. 13 Tahun 2003 Tentang Ketenagakerjaan dan untuk mengetahui pelaksanaan sistem pengupahan di Propinsi Sulawesi Utara. Dengan menggunakan metode penelitian normatif, maka berdasarkan hasil penelitian penulis dapat ditarik kesimpulan yaitu : 1. Landasan hukum konsep perhitungan Komponen Upah Minimum Provinsi secara substansi telah diatur dalam Undang-undang No. 13 Tahun 2003 tentang Ketenagakerjaan yang pada intinya menyatakan bahwa setiap pekerja/buruh berhak memperoleh penghasilan yang memenuhi penghidupan yang layak bagi kemanusiaan, komponen upah meliputi upah minimum, upah kerja lembur dan lain-lain. Kemudian dalam Peraturan Menteri Tenaga Kerja dan Transmigrasi Nomor 7 Tahun 2013 tentang Upah Minimum. 2. Implementasi penetapan upah minimum Provinsi Sulawesi Utara berdasarkan Undang-undang No. 13 Tahun 2003 tentang Ketenagakerjaan diatur dalam pasal 88 ayat 3 huruf dan ayat 4 serta pasal 89. Bahwa Upah Minimum ditetapkan Gubernur berdasarkan kebutuhan hidup layak sebagaimana yang diatur dalam Keputusan Menteri Tenaga Kerja Nomor 13 Tahun 2012 tentang Komponen dan Pelaksanaan Tahapan Pencapaian Kebutuhan Hidup Layak, dengan memperhatikan produktifitas dan pertumbuhan ekonomi berdasarkan rekomendasi Dewan Pengupahan Provinsi yang didasarkan pada Peraturan Menteri Tenaga Kerja Dan Transmigrasi No. 7 Tahun 2013 tentang Upah Minimum.     Assessment of Left Atrial Deformation and Function by 2-Dimensional Speckle Tracking Echocardiography in Healthy Dogs and Dogs With Myxomatous Mitral Valve Disease

    open7noBackground: The assessment of left atrial (LA) function by 2-dimensional speckle tracking echocardiography (STE) holds important clinical implications in human medicine. Few similar data are available in dogs. Objectives: To assess LA function by STE in dogs with and without myxomatous mitral valve disease (MMVD), analyzing LA areas, systolic function, and strain. Animals: One hundred and fifty dogs were divided according to the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine classification of heart failure: 23 dogs in class A, 52 in class B1, 36 in class B2, and 39 in class C + D. Methods: Prospective observational study. Conventional morphologic and Doppler variables, LA areas, and STE-based LA strain analysis were performed in all dogs and results were compared among groups. Correlation analysis was carried out between LA STE variables and other echocardiographic variables. Results: Variability study showed good reproducibility for all the tested variables (coefficient of variation <16%). Left atrial areas, fractional area change, peak atrial longitudinal strain (PALS), peak atrial contraction strain, and contraction strain index (CSI) differed significantly between groups B2 and C + D and all the other groups (overall P < .001), whereas only PALS differed between groups B1 and A (P = .01). Left atrial areas increased with progression of the disease, whereas LA functional parameters decreased. Only CSI increased nonsignificantly from group A to group B1 and then progressively decreased. Thirty-one significant correlations (P < .001, r > .3) were found between conventional left heart echocardiographic variables and LA areas and strain variables.     Molecularly imprinted polymers combined with electrochemical sensors for food contaminants analysis

    Detection of relevant contaminants using screening approaches is a key issue to ensure food safety and respect for the regulatory limits established. Electrochemical sensors present several advantages such as rapidity; ease of use; possibility of on-site analysis and low cost. The lack of selectivity for electrochemical sensors working in complex samples as food may be overcome by coupling them with molecularly imprinted polymers (MIPs). MIPs are synthetic materials that mimic biological receptors and are produced by the polymerization of functional monomers in presence of a target analyte. This paper critically reviews and discusses the recent progress in MIP-based electrochemical sensors for food safety. A brief introduction on MIPs and electrochemical sensors is given; followed by a discussion of the recent achievements for various MIPs-based electrochemical sensors for food contaminants analysis. Both electropolymerization and chemical synthesis of MIP-based electrochemical sensing are discussed as well as the relevant applications of MIPs used in sample preparation and then coupled to electrochemical analysis.     IMPA versus Cloud Analysis and IDA: Different Methods to Evaluate Structural Seismic Fragility

    Well-known methods for seismic performance assessment, such as incremental dynamic analysis (IDA), multi-stripes analysis (MSA) and the cloud method, involve nonlinear response time-history analyses to characterize the relationship between the chosen damage measure versus intensity measure. Over the past two decades, many authors have proposed simplified procedures or nonlinear static approaches to develop fragility. In these procedures, the capacity of the system is evaluated by nonlinear static procedures (i.e., the capacity spectrum method (CSM), the N2 method, modal pushover analysis (MPA)) and the demand is derived by response spectra. In addition to the familiar ones, incremental modal pushover analysis (IMPA) is a novel nonlinear static procedure proposed in recent years, and it is used in this research to present an IM-based fragility estimation. The accuracy and effectiveness of different methods to assess vulnerability are investigated by comparing fragility curves derived by MPA-based cloud analysis, IMPA and cloud analysis against IDA. The comparison gives valuable insights on the influence of scaling on different sets of records; however, a more extended validation is needed to confirm the obtained results and draw more general conclusions.     Detection and monitoring of volatiles is a challenging and fascinating issue in environmental analysis, agriculture and food quality, process control in industry, as well as in ‘point of care’ diagnostics. Gas chromatographic approaches remain the reference method for the analysis of volatile organic compounds (VOCs); however, gas sensors (GSs), with their advantages of low cost and no or very little sample preparation, have become a reality. Gas sensors can be used singularly or in array format (e.g., e-noses); coupling data output with multivariate statical treatment allows un-target analysis of samples headspace. Within this frame, the use of new binding elements as recognition/interaction elements in gas sensing is a challenging hot-topic that allowed unexpected advancement. In this review, the latest development of gas sensors and gas sensor arrays, realized using peptides, molecularly imprinted polymers and DNA is reported. This work is focused on the description of the strategies used for the GSs development, the sensing elements function, the sensors array set-up, and the application in real cases

    Maternal modulation of paternal effects on offspring development.

    The paternal transmission of environmentally induced phenotypes across generations has been reported to occur following a number of qualitatively different exposures and appear to be driven, at least in part, by epigenetic factors that are inherited via the sperm. However, previous studies of paternal germline transmission have not addressed the role of mothers in the propagation of paternal effects to offspring. We hypothesized that paternal exposure to nutritional restriction would impact male mate quality and subsequent maternal reproductive investment with consequences for the transmission of paternal germline effects. In the current report, using embryo transfer in mice, we demonstrate that sperm factors in adult food restricted males can influence growth rate, hypothalamic gene expression and behaviour in female offspring. However, under natural mating conditions females mated with food restricted males show increased pre- and postnatal care, and phenotypic outcomes observed during embryo transfer conditions are absent or reversed. We demonstrate that these compensatory changes in maternal investment are associated with a reduced mate preference for food restricted males and elevated gene expression within the maternal hypothalamus. Therefore, paternal experience can influence offspring development via germline inheritance, but mothers can serve as a modulating factor in determining the impact of paternal influences on offspring development

    The effect of sea‐level rise on estuary filling in scaled landscape experiments

    When sea-level rise slowed down in the middle Holocene, fluvial and coastal sediments filled the newly created accommodation, whilst others remained largely unfilled because of limited sediment supply. In view of current and future rapid sea-level rise, the question arises how estuarine systems will adapt and whether the land-level rise may keep up. Besides geological data and conceptual models of large-scale and long-term estuary filling, little is known about the filling process during sea-level rise on the decadal-to-centennial time scale that is relevant for society. This study focusses on how sea-level rise affects the morphological and hydrodynamic development of filling estuaries. To this end, scaled laboratory experiments were conducted in a tilting flume facility that creates bidirectional tidal currents and develops entire estuaries. A net importing estuary with sand, mud and vegetation was formed that was subjected to linear sea-level rise. Findings show less of the imported sand was deposited landward following sea-level rise than in an experiment without sea-level rise. The bay-head delta and the flood-tidal delta retained nearly enough sediment to keep up with sea-level rise, whilst the tidal embayment in between drowned except for the highest vegetated bars. Sea-level rise also reduced vegetation survival and sprouting potential, as prolonged inundation increased mortality, negating the potential eco-engineering effect. This resulted in lower vegetation coverage with sea-level rise than under constant sea level. These findings suggest that sea-level rise may cause natural systems to drown even if nearly sufficient sediment is available to fill the newly created accommodation, particularly in areas further away from the fluvial and marine sediment sources. Finally, depending on the sea-level rise rate, the flood-tidal delta may show back-stepping like fluvial deltas, but in the reverse direction towards the sea

    Cortical thickness of planum temporale and pars opercularis in native language tone processing

    The present study investigated the relationship between linguistic tone processing and cortical thickness of bilateral planum temporale (PT) and pars opercularis of the inferior frontal gyrus (IFGpo). Swedish tones on word stems function as cues to upcoming endings. Correlating structural brain imaging data with participants’ response time patterns for suffixes, we found that thicker cortex in the left PT was associated with greater reliance on tones to anticipate upcoming inflections on real words. On inflected pseudoword stems, however, the cortical thickness of left IFGpo was associated with tone-suffix processing. Thus cortical thickness of the left PT might play a role in processing tones as part of stored representations for familiar speech segments, most likely when inflected forms are accessed as whole words. In the absence of stored representations, listeners might need to rely on morphosyntactic rules specifying tone-suffix associations, potentially facilitated by greater cortical thickness of left IFGpo
