The usage of composite structure has been run for a long time in construction industry and its have become more popular to civil engineers. Profiled steel sheeting structures are getting famous because its stiffness, strength and faster the construction period. The objective of this project is to analyse the behaviour of profiled composite panel under axial load by using finite element method. Foam concrete, Spandek and Trimdek profiled steel sheeting panel are used as composite material and the dimension of panels are set as 700 - 760 mm width with 1000 mm height and 85mm thickness. There are six types of models have been analyses in this project. LUSAS Modeller 14.0 Finite Element Software is able to carry out linear analysis to determine the deformed mesh, maximum stress and strain under axial load condition. in addition, critical buckling load can be predicted under the linear eigenvalue analysis. It concludes that Spandek Profiled Composite Panel can sustain higher buckling load than Trimdek Profiled Composite Panel

ETHNOPHARMACOLOGICAL RELEVANCE: Phaleria macrocarpa (Scheff.) Boerl (Pm) has been shown to reduce cholesterol level in vitro and in vivo experiment. AIM OF THE STUDY: This study investigated the effects of Pm fruit on weight control and mechanistic basis of its anti-hypercholesterolemic effect in both in vivo and in vitro. MATERIALS AND METHOD: In the in vivo study, thirty six male Sprague Dawley were randomized to six groups. Five groups were induced into hypercholesterolemia by giving 3% cholesterol enriched-diet for 52 days while one group acted as control. The rats were then treated with Pm extract (0, 20, 30 and 40 mg/ml) or simvastatin for 84 days. The following parameters were determined: (1) body weight, (2) blood lipid profile (total cholesterol, triglyceride, HDL and LDL) and (3) hepatic LDL receptor (160 kDa and 120 kDa) and PCSK9 proteins. In the in vitro study, HepG2 cells were cultured in serum-free RPMI supplemented with 0.2% BSA with or without LDL and in the presence of Pm extract (0, 0.1, 2, 40 and 1,000 μg/ml) or simvastatin (4.60 μg/ml) for 24h. The abundance of both LDL receptor and PCSK9 proteins and mRNA were investigated. RESULTS: Pm extract significantly (P<0.05) reduced body weight gain, total cholesterol, triglycerides, HDL LDL levels and upregulated hepatic LDL receptor as well as PCSK9 proteins of hypercholesterolemic rats. These results were supported by studies in HepG2 cells whereby Pm extract also significantly upregulated both LDL receptor and PCSK9 at protein and mRNA levels. CONCLUSION: This study enhances the potential usage of Pm fruit for controlling the body weight of obese people and for treating hypercholesterolemia

Comparative Analysis of Special Education Teacher Training in France and Norway: How effective, areas taught and recommendation for improvement.

Master Thesis AbstractThis study aims to understand the quality and areas of training in the existing special education teacher education programme in France and Norway by examining how special education teachers are prepared in carrying out four components of administrative, teaching, student evaluation and inclusive tasks in everyday classroom. The theoretical framework used in this research is international comparative analysis via questionnaire, institutional analysis (training programme), discourse analysis(interview) and classroom observation based on Crossley and Vulliamy's ʻcase for the caseʼ(1984) method. The efficiency of the training programme is evaluated by (i) studying satisfaction of the teachers after training, whether knowledge and hands-on teaching tasks provided were successful to prepare them for real classroom teaching to children with special needs, (ii) relevant views of teachers about the training programme and (iii) observation of teachers teaching as per the training model. Subjects in this study include special education student teachers, teacher trainers, primary and secondary school teachers and academic psychologist

    The Braided Quantum 2-Sphere

In a recent paper the quantum 2-sphere Sq2S^2_q was described as a quantum complex manifold. Here we consider several copies of Sq2S^2_q and derive their braiding commutation relations. The braiding is extended to the differential and to the integral calculus on the spheres. A quantum analogue of the classical anharmonic ratio of four points on the sphere is given, which is invariant under the coaction of SUq(2)SU_q(2).Comment: 14 page

Dissecting Candida albicans infection from the perspective of C. albicans virulence and omics approaches on host-pathogen interaction: a review

Candida bloodstream infections remain the most frequent life-threatening fungal disease, with Candida albicans accounting for 70% to 80% of the Candida isolates recovered from infected patients. In nature, Candida species are part of the normal commensal flora in mammalian hosts. However, they can transform into pathogens once the host immune system is weakened or breached. More recently, mortality attributed to Candida infections has continued to increase due to both inherent and acquired drug resistance in Candida, the inefficacy of the available antifungal drugs, tedious diagnostic procedures, and a rising number of immunocompromised patients. Adoption of animal models, viz. minihosts, mice, and zebrafish, has brought us closer to unraveling the pathogenesis and complexity of Candida infection in human hosts, leading towards the discovery of biomarkers and identification of potential therapeutic agents. In addition, the advancement of omics technologies offers a holistic view of the Candida-host interaction in a non-targeted and non-biased manner. Hence, in this review, we seek to summarize past and present milestone findings on C. albicans virulence, adoption of animal models in the study of C. albicans infection, and the application of omics technologies in the study of Candida–host interaction. A profound understanding of the interaction between host defense and pathogenesis is imperative for better design of novel immunotherapeutic strategies in future
