This study aims to outline the history and the structural alterations of the cultural extraordinary immovable protected landmark of The Church U Je‑ žíška in Pilsen. It also encompasses the historical figures linked to the building. This thesis is divided into several parts. Firstly, it chronicles the church’s history and presents information about the characters related to the church’s reconstruction through time. The following sections provide data on the noteworthy furniture and the church’s interior ornamentation, as well as describe other sacral buildings of the same consecration. The final segment is dedicated to this church’s significance in the lives of the people of Pilsen

A Successful Crayfish Invader Is Capable of Facultative Parthenogenesis: A Novel Reproductive Mode in Decapod Crustaceans

Biological invasions are impacting biota worldwide, and explaining why some taxa tend to become invasive is of major scientific interest. North American crayfish species, particularly of the family Cambaridae, are prominent invaders in freshwaters, defying the “tens rule” which states that only a minority of species introduced to new regions become established, and only a minority of those become invasive and pests. So far, success of cambarid invaders has largely been attributed to rapid maturation, high reproductive output, aggressiveness, and tolerance to pollution. We provide experimental evidence that females of one cambarid species particularly widespread in Europe, the spiny-cheek crayfish Orconectes limosus, are capable of facultative parthenogenesis. Such reproductive mode has never before been recognized in decapods, the most diverse crustacean order. As shown by analysis of seven microsatellite loci, crayfish females kept physically separated from males produced genetically homogeneous offspring identical with maternal individuals; this suggests they reproduced by apomixis, unlike those females which mated with males and had a diverse offspring. Further research is needed to clarify what environmental conditions are necessary for a switch to parthenogenesis in O. limosus, and what role it plays in natural crayfish populations. However, if such reproductive plasticity is present in other cambarid crayfish species, it may contribute to the overwhelming invasive success of this group

Numerical and experimental investigation of the cavitating flow within Venturi tube

International audienceHydrodynamic cavitation represents complex physical phenomenon undesirably affecting operation as well as lifespan of many hydraulic machines from small valves to the large hydro power plants. On the other hand, the same phenomenon and its concomitants such as pressure pulsations can be exploited in many positive ways. One of them which seems to be very promising and perspective is the cavitation utilization for reduction of the microorganisms such as cyanobacteria within large bulks of water. Mutual effect of the swirl induced by the upstream mounted generator and flow constriction in converging-diverging nozzle has been experimentally investigated. The main scope of this paper is numerical investigation complementing the experimental results. The multiphase simulations were carried out using the OpenFoam 1606+ and its interPhaseChangeFoam solver. The present study focuses on CFD results of the cavitating velocity field within the nozzle and analysis of the loss coefficient within the nozzle

Enabling SSH Protocol Visibility in Flow Monitoring

    Get PDF
The network flow monitoring has evolved to collect information beyond the network and transport layers, most importantly the application layer information. This information is used to improve network security and performance by enabling more precise performance analysis and intrusion detection. In this paper, we contribute to this effort by extending flow monitoring with information from the SSH protocol. Firstly, we analyze the SSH protocol to determine which information can be obtained from the connection establishment phase. Based on the analysis, we create an extension to our flow monitoring infrastructure that allows obtaining the selected information. Lastly, we analyze the SSH connections observed in the university campus network and discuss the benefits of performing the detailed SSH protocol analysis. We argue that with a precise recognition of login attempt results it is possible to improve the detection of successful brute-force password attacks. Moreover, we publish an anonymized version of our dataset including the SSH specific information

Transition of cavitating flow to supercavitation within Venturi nozzle – hysteresis investigation

Cavitation is usually considered as undesirable phenomena. On the other hand, it can be utilized in many applications. One of the technical applications is using cavitation in water treatment, where hydrodynamic cavitation seems to be effective way how to reduce cyanobacteria within large bulks of water. The main scope of this paper is investigation of the cavitation within Venturi nozzle during the transition from fully developed cavitation to supercavitation regime and vice versa. Dynamics of cavitation was investigated using experimental data of pressure pulsations and analysis of high speed videos, where FFT of the pixel intensity and Proper Orthogonal Decomposition (POD) of the records were done to identify dominant frequencies connected with the presence of cavitation. The methodology of the high speed (HS) records semiautomated analysis using the FFT was described. Obtained results were correlated and above that the possible presence of hysteresis was discussed

Comparison of the rules of tax incentives for research and development in selected OECD countries

    No full text
Bachelor thesis deals with questions about tax incentives for research and development realized in the business sector. Its aim is to analyze and compare the rules of tax incentives for research and development. The subjects of analysis and comparison are systems of tax incentives for research and development used in 10 selected OECD countries (including the Czech Republic). The first part defines research and development according to Frascati manual and describes the commonly used tools to support research and development. In the second part there is carried out analysis of tax incentive systems for supporting research and development in selected OECD countries. The second part also deals with the comparison of approaches for tax incentives for research and development among selected countries. In conclusion, there are several possible recommendations for Czech tax policy in area of research and development
