Improving Satellite Compatible Microdevices to Study Biology in Space
The technology for biology in space lags far behind the gold standard for biological experiments on Earth. To remedy this disparity, the Rothschild lab works on proof of concept, prototyping, and developing of new sensors and devices to further the capabilities of biology research on satellites. One such device is the PowerCell Payload System. One goal for synthetic biology in aiding space travel and colonization is to genetically engineer living cells to produce biochemicals in space. However, such farming in space presupposes bacteria retain their functionality post-launch, bombarded by radiation, and without the 1G of Earth. Our questions is, does a co-culture of cyanobacteria and protein-synthesizing bacteria produce Earth-like yields of target proteins? Is the yield sensitive to variable gravitational forces? To answer these questions, a PowerCell Payload System will spend 1 year aboard the German Aerospace Center's Euglena and Combined Regenerative Organic-food Production In Space (Eu:CROPIS) mission satellite. The PowerCell system is a pair of two 48-well microfluidic cards, each well seeded with bacteria. The system integrates fluidic, thermal, optical, electronic, and control systems to germinate bacteria spores, then measure the protein synthesized for comparison to parallel experiments conducted on the Earth. In developing the PowerCell Payload, we gained insight into the shortcomings of biology experiments on satellites. To address these issues, we have started three new prototyping projects: 1) The development of an extremely stable and radiation resistant cell-free system, allowing for the construction of proteins utilizing only cell components instead of living cells. This can be lyophilized on a substrate, like paper. (2) Using paper as a microfluidic platform that is flexible, stable, cheap, and wicking. The capillary action eliminates the need for pumps, reducing volume, mass, and potential failing points. Electrodes can be printed on the paper to sense for biochemicals. (3) Developing a modular, semi-autonomous microfluidic device that can be easily adapted for a variety of common biological experiments. This versatility will allow for quicker and cheaper experimentation. These improvements to satellite experiment platforms have the potential to radically increase the return from NASA's biological and field studies with reduced development time, mass, and cost with increased robustness data and interpretation
(IFR), On Balance Volume (OBD) e Média Móvel Aritmética (MMA).
O Aplicativo Web foi desenvolvido utilizando as linguagens Python, HTML
e CSS.
In 2019, the Brazilian capital market (B3) experienced an important
moment, characterized by the attraction of capital in investments that can offer better
results compared to traditional fixed-income investments, which used to be prioritized
by the population.
As a result, interest in the equities market grew significantly during this
period, both for foreign and domestic investors. However, equity investments involve
risks and the lack of financial education harms the Brazilian investor.
To solve this problem, this monograph aims to propose a web application
to analyze assets and guide investors through renowned financial market
methodologies such as Relative Strength Index (IFR), On Balance Volume (OBV).
and Arithmetic Moving Average (MMA).
The web application was developed using Python, HTML and CSS
languages. The results show that the Web Application can provide easy access to
quotes, numerical and graphical asset analysis to interested parties, providing
knowledge and confidence to the new investor

The present review has the propose to show some considerations about the usage of
cactus pears in the livestock of Brazilian semi-arid. This kind of cactus has an excellent
adaptation for the Brazilian semi-arid weather. The cactus pears is an important power
source for ruminants because it is a rich food and meets the water needs of these animals as
well. There is by about 550 thousands ha of cactus pears in the northeast of Brazil, which is
the largest area of cultivation of the American continent. The three most important especies
produced in this region are: The giant cactus pear (Opuntia fícus indica); the rounded cactus
pear (Opuntiasp) and the small cactus pear (Nopalea cochenilifera). Maybe, the biggest
problem to cultive these plants in the Northeast of Brazil would be the pest called Cochonilha
of the Carmim which is dissipating the farms of cactos pears. Several researchs have been
done in order to investigate whether the inclusion of cactus pears as food of the ruminats
could reduce the consuption of water of them. In addition, the inclusion of cactus pears, in
the meal of ruminants, together a source of effective fiber has been researched with the
intention of investigate whether any metabolic disturbance is induced in these animals.
As três principais variedades
cultivadas na região do semiárido são: A palma gigante (Opuntia fícus indica), a palma
redonda (Opuntiasp) e a palma miúda (Nopalea cochenilifera). Talvez o grande problema do
