Maladie de Lyme, syndrome autistique et traitement antibiotique : une réflexion à partir d'un cas

    No full text
International audienceFollowing an overview of the definition of autism and Lyme disease, a clinical case will be presented of a young subject (aged 14 years and a half) diagnosed with autism, and characterized by a typical development in the first year of life, followed by a general deterioration of abilities shortly after diagnosis of the onset of Lyme disease. The subject presented positive reactivity for Mycoplasma Pneumoniae. According to recent studies, misdiagnosis of initial symptoms of Lyme disease and delayed treatment can lead to persistent interactive coinfections in the organism which may result in chronic pathologies. Thus, a link could exist between a chronic infectionwith Mycoplasma Pneumoniae and an atypical symptomology similar to autism. So the hypothesis proposed is that there may be a correlation between Lyme disease and autism and that long-term antibiotic therapy may be an effective treatment. Following a clinical presentation of the history of this young patient, the evolution of the subject's symptomology and behavior during one year of antibiotic therapy will be described.

Our aim is to illustrate the functionality of the correlative scheme for the description of clause linking mechanisms expressed by wh- proforms in modern French. The correlative construction stricto sensu is one of the central configurations in which these proforms are used, beside those of the headed and free relative constructions

Investigations into the coefficient of thermal expansion of porous films prepared on AA7175 T7351 by anodizing in sulphuric acid electrolyte

The aim of this study was to investigate the Coefficient of Thermal Expansion (CTE) of anodic films on 7175 T7351 aluminium alloy and to evaluate the influence of the film characteristics on this value. In particular, effects of porosity and post-treatments, such as coloring and sealing, were studied. Beam bending analysis was used as the experimental method and a numerical finite element model was developed to verify theoretical relationships hypotheses. The values determined and the choice of experimental method were then validated by comparing the experimental cracking temperature of anodic films with a theoretical value directly depending on the previously determined CTE

Mechanical behavior of black anodic films on 7175 aluminium alloy for space applications

Because of their low outgassing and their thermo-optical properties, black anodized aluminium parts are often used near optical instruments to manage thermal control in space applications. However, critical cases of flaking of the film were observed after simulated thermal ageing. To understand the mechanisms leading to flaking, the influence of the initial porosity of the film on its mechanical behavior during and after the black anodizing process has been investigated. The decrease of limit tensile stress with the porosity, the coloring and the sealing combined to thermal stresses due to the difference of thermal expansion coefficients between film and substrate have been shown to cause crazing in articular conditions. For high initial porosity films, thermal cycling ageing has a detrimental influence on the adhesion measured by scratchtesting. Numerical simulation has been used to simulate the combined effects of thermal stresses and film cracking on the stress field at the interface

Exciton photon strong-coupling regime for a single quantum dot in a microcavity

We report on the observation of the strong coupling regime between a single GaAs quantum dot and a microdisk optical mode. Photoluminescence is performed at various temperatures to tune the quantum dot exciton with respect to the optical mode. At resonance, we observe an anticrossing, signature of the strong coupling regime with a well resolved doublet. The Vacuum Rabi splitting amounts to 400 μeV and is twice as large as the individual linewidths.Comment: submitted on November 7th 200

Channel profiles through the active thrust front of the southern Barbados prism.

International audienceSubmarine channels of the Orinoco River were analyzed using high-quality, dense coverage bathymetric and seismic data provided by a recent marine survey on the southern Barbados prism. Analysis of the syntectonic sediments on seismic profiles shows that the four to five frontmost structures show evidence of recent tectonic movement. Slope analysis of the major channels was performed. From their headwaters to domains of little or no active tectonics, the channels display ,0.2% slope and form levees. Slope and incision increase gradually in domains of moderate tectonics, but deep canyons with ;2% mean slope form where the channels cross the active frontal folds of the prism. Detailed correlation between the active structures, their geometry, and canyon slope suggest that systematic variations in channel gradient highlight variations in substrate uplift rate. Steep slopes induced by uplift accelerate sediment flow and enhance incision. Nonetheless, such slope analysis is subject to complications introduced by variations in sediment flux and transient erosional conditions
