Adaptación de tres prácticas de laboratorio dirigido a la enseñanza del concepto de fuerza de fricción a niños invidentes del colegio Luis Angel Arango I.E.D.

La física es una ciencia fascinante porque nos permite comprender muchos fenómenos del mundo que nos rodea, pero su enseñanza requiere una metodología dinámica y práctica, y cuando en el aula regular hay niños de baja visión e invidentes, la parte práctica se dificulta en el sentido que hay que realizar adaptaciones de materiales guías e instrumentos que permitan acercar al estudiante invidente al ambiente científico. De aquí es que nace la necesidad de realizar este trabajo en el cual se muestra la adaptación y montaje de tres prácticas de laboratorio dirigidas a la enseñanza del concepto de fuerza de fricción a niños invidentes y videntes; su implementación con cuatro estudiantes divididas en dos grupos; uno de dos estudiantes videntes; y el otro una niña vidente y una niña invidente todas ellas de grado décimo del colegio Luis Ángel Arango I.E.D. A partir de una prueba diagnóstica implementada al inicio y al final se analiza el cambio conceptual presentado en estas cuatro estudiantes y de esta forma mostrar que las prácticas de laboratorio constituyen una herramienta favorable tanto para el docente como para el estudiante.Abstract. Physics is a fascinating science because it let us know many phenomena from the world around us, but it requires a dynamic and practice methodology. When we have blind or low vision kids in the classroom the practical part is very difficult for the reason that we have to adapt the workshops and instruments to close these kids to the scientific environment. Henceforth born the need to do this job to show the adaptation and assembly of three lab practices aimed at teaching the concept of friction force for blind and sighted kids. Its implementation is dividing four students in two groups, one of them with two sighted students, and the other with a blind girl and a sighted girl, all of them from tenth grade of the Luis Angel Arango School. From a diagnostic test implemented at the beginning and at the end we discuss the conceptual change presented in these four students and so show the labs are favorable tools for both the teacher and the student.Maestrí

Las propuestas, aplicadas al derecho de sociedades del Reino Unido, resumen la filosofía de esta legislación y las situaciones donde se presentan absorciones hostiles. Política de competencia: prácticas monopolísticas absolutas en la Ley 29 de 1996, artículo presentado por Oscar García Cardoze, muestra la situación de los Hard Core Cartels, lo que autor llama los monopolios bilaterales y las concentraciones empresariales en Panamá, de acuerdo con los elementos normativos de la Ley 29 de 1996. Muestra que la filosofía de esta ley, no es como en la mayoría de los países, la protección del bien jurídico del interés económico general, sino el interés del consumidor, variación que naturalmente debe incidir en la aplicación de la ley.

Mecánica de fluidos para bachillerato

In this paper we propose an alternative way of introducing the subject of fluid mechanics in classroom, avoiding starting directly by the handling of equations and conversions. This is in response to the tendency to teach this subject purely in mathematical management and, knowing that it is one of the topics inserted in basic science education curriculum.En este trabajo proponemos una manera alternativa de introducir el tema de mecánica de fluidos en el aula, evitando empezar directamente por el manejo de ecuaciones y conversiones.  Esto como respuesta a la tendencia de enseñar este tema pasado puramente en el manejo matemático y sabiendo que es uno de los temas que forma parte el currículo de la educación básica

Learning from students' perception on professors through opinion mining

Students' perception of classes measured through their opinions on teaching surveys allows to identify deficiencies and problems, both in the environment and in the learning methodologies. The purpose of this paper is to study, through sentiment analysis using natural language processing (NLP) and machine learning (ML) techniques, those opinions in order to identify topics that are relevant for students, as well as predicting the associated sentiment via polarity analysis. As a result, it is implemented, trained and tested two algorithms to predict the associated sentiment as well as the relevant topics of such opinions. The combination of both approaches then becomes useful to identify specific properties of the students' opinions associated with each sentiment label (positive, negative or neutral opinions) and topic. Furthermore, we explore the possibility that students' perception surveys are carried out without closed questions, relying on the information that students can provide through open questions where they express their opinions about their classes

Subarachnoid racemose neurocysticercosis with cerebellar involvement: an old friend in an infrequent location?

Taenia solium is the most common parasitic infection of the central nervous system and it can cause parenchymal or extra-parenchymal lesions. Subarachnoid cysticercosis is a type of extra-parenchymal infection in which the prevalence is not known and racemose NC with cerebellar involvement has been rarely reported. The diagnosis is challenging because of its similarity to other infectious diseases or to subarachnoid involvement of systemic malignancies. Treatment usually requires cysticide drugs, however, there are no randomized studies concerning the anti-parasitic treatment in subarachnoid NC. We present a case of racemose NC in the cerebellar hemisphere to draw attention to this pathology, endemic in many parts of the world; and highlight all the current gaps in our understanding of this entity

Using machine learning and information visualisation for discovering latent topics in Twitter news

We propose a method to discover latent topics and visualise large collections of tweets for easy identification and interpretation of topics, and exemplify its use with tweets from a Colombian mass media giant in the period 2014--2019. The latent topic analysis is performed in two ways: with the training of a Latent Dirichlet Allocation model, and with the combination of the FastText unsupervised model to represent tweets as vectors and the implementation of K-means clustering to group tweets into topics. Using a classification task, we found that people respond differently according to the various news topics. The classification tasks consists of the following: given a reply to a news tweet, we train a supervised algorithm to predict the topic of the news tweet solely from the reply. Furthermore, we show how the Colombian peace treaty has had a profound impact on the Colombian society, as it is the topic in which most people engage to show their opinions.Comment: 10 pages, 6 figures, to be presented at SmartTech-IC 201

Women's reproductive rights in the inter-American system of human rights: conclusions from the Field, June - September 2014

The Inter-American System of Human Rights has proven to be a forum for the advancement of women’s reproductive rights in the Inter-American region. However, the Inter-American System faces significant challenges in promoting structural transformative change that enables women’s enjoyment of their reproductive health rights. This report examines three reproductive rights cases from the Inter- American Commission on Human Rights and the Inter-American Court of Human Rights: María Mamerita Mestanza Chávez v. Peru; Paulina Ramirez Jacinto v. Mexico; and Artavia Murillo et al. v. Costa Rica. In the summer of 2014, interviews were conducted with representatives in each of the case study countries, with the objective of the research being two-fold: (1) to understand how each of the cases developed, and the subsequent challenges and advancements; and (2) to learn from these cases in order to suggest recommendations for how actors can make better use of the Inter-American System as one of several avenues for protecting, promoting and fulfilling women’s reproductive rights. The report first discusses challenges in implementing women’s reproductive health rights, and then explores how the Inter-American System can strengthen its work on women’s reproductive health rights

Caracterización de polvos para uso como materia prima en recubrimientos depositados mediante rociado térmico

Los esfuerzos realizados por la industria del rociado térmico para garantizar la calidad de los recubrimientos obtenidos con sus productos han llevado a la creación de catálogos técnicos que especifican las condiciones a las que debe ser depositado cada material, para obtener unas propiedades determinadas. Si bien es cierto que esto facilita el trabajo de los operarios, en algunos casos limita las posibilidades de aplicación y de obtención de un mejor desempeño para estos recubrimientos. Para demostrar lo anterior, se seleccionaron dos materiales de la casa comercial Eutectic - Castolin y se determinaron sus propiedades fisicoquímicas, para establecer el calor necesario para su fusión, posteriormente se depositaron mediante las antorchas Eutalloy Super jet y Terodyn 2000, aplicando con cada antorcha una cantidad de calor suficiente para su fusión, Finalmente, se evaluó la estructura y microdureza de cada uno de los recubrimientos obtenidos. Los resultados permitieron establecer que si se conoce claramente el material a depositar y se controlan adecuadamente los diferentes parámetros de aplicación, se pueden obtener recubrimientos similares con las antorchas utilizadas y cuyas propiedades pueden ser incluso mejores que las de los obtenidos en las condiciones establecidas por el fabricante
