Corbicula largillierti (Philippi 1844), an invasive freshwater bivalve, accidentally reached Argentina from Asia presumably in the 1960s. Since then, records of its presence from the Rio de la Plata River to the northeast and northwest Argentinian freshwater systems have been documented. A new record in Del Valle River, part of the Del Valle Central basin in Catamarca Province of northwest Argentina, makes evident that the species is still spreading through Argentina.Fil: Torre, Luciana. This essay talks about the magazine L’Illustrazione Vaticana, edited by the newspaper L’Osservatore Romano during the Thirties. It’s an ad vanced magazine for that period and one of the field of his topics is cinema. From the pages of this magazine, the catholic culture stars to study cinema: analyzing it, criticizing it and encouraging it. It’s im portant to say that the attitude of catholic culture isn’t only a difensive attitude, but also a proactive. It’s in the Thirties that was born a first important catholic film critic.

The choice of the university course to attend and therefore indirectly the professions connected to it, constitutes a complex operation for a student who finishes secondary school (Vulperhorst, 2020). This choice becomes more difficult if we are talking about courses of study that train border professions, as in the case of university courses in the socio-psycho- pedagogical field, assimilated, in the common feeling, to the point of confusing the borders. The accompaniment of secondary school students oriented towards these professions requires adequate tools for exploring the same, tools that allow them to analyze the congruence between their interests, skills, personal attitudes and the chosen professional profiles. For this purpose we have built and validated a tool for socio-psycho-pedagogical professions, to be used in differential orientation paths for students who need assistance in the discrimination of the paths that lead to the training of educators, teachers, psychologists and social workers. We will start the contribution with an analysis of the dysfunctional choice mechanisms that most typically lead to inappropriate choices in the study paths indicated, to then arrive at illustrating the original tool

Universidad San Francisco de Quito has thousands of agreements with lots of universities in the world that help students study abroad. That is why the student government decided to create a program to help foreign students who come to Ecuador, to create long-lasting friendships and provide assistance through their whole semester abroad with the help of ecuadorian students, the program is called Ecuabuddies. With all the requirements Ecuabuddies had, a web application was created to help the program with the registration of new members, both Ecuadorian and foreign was created. Similarly, the program administrators have the ability to create events and post them on the website so that registered members can sign up. And finally, the application helps to have a place where important information such as news, events and contact information for all members of the program users is posted. After analyzing surveys made to registered users and administrators, it was concluded that 100% of registered users agree that this project will help with the organization and management of Ecuabuddies. Similarly, users and administrators are satisfied with the final product because of its features and ease of use.

Analysis of native carotenoid composition of sweet bell peppers by serially coupled C30 columns.

Serial coupled columns reversed-phase separations in high-performance liquid chromatography can be a useful tool for the analysis of complex real samples. The great difficulties found when analyzing complex carotenoid samples, due to the high natural variability of these compounds, as well as to the presence of carotenoid esters, are well documented. In the present contribution, the applicability of connecting two C30 columns to increase significantly the separation power, resolution and peak capacity for the analysis of carotenoids in a complex carotenoid sample, like sweet bell peppers, has been shown for the first time. By using LC coupled to PDA/APCI-MS detectors, 56 different carotenoids have been detected in red sweet bell peppers. By using two serial coupled C30 columns a peak capacity of 95.4 was obtained, compared with 73 achieved using a single column. Moreover, resolution greatly improved between different critical peaks when using two serial coupled C30 columns, compared with a single column. Interestingly, free carotenoids, mono-esters and diesters were quantitatively equally represented (around 33% for each different class) in red sweet bell pepper, showing, therefore, a value for the ratio of mono-esters/di-esters of around 1, which could be considered a parameter of typicality. Free β-carotene (12.6%), capsanthin-C14:0 (8.4%), and capsanthin-C12:0-C14:0 (8.9%) were the most abundant carotenoids in the three different classes of red sweet bell pepper. No carotenoid esters were detected in either yellow or green sweet bell peppers. The application of such methodology in the analysis of other complex carotenoid matrices could be a future objective of research

Biomarker responses in caged carp (Cyprinuscarpio) and native collected fish (Leporinus obtusidens) in the Río de la Plata Estuary, Argentina

    Get PDF
Punta Lara is located in the Río de la Plata estuary near industrial areas contaminated mainly by organic pollutants. In this work, the responses and status of hepatic biomarkers were studied in juvenile carp (Cyprinus carpio) by means of a 21-day field exposure in cages and collection of juvenile native fish (Leporinus obtusidens) at Punta Lara. The analyzed hepatic biomarkers were: enzymatic activity of glutathione-S-transferase (GST), catalase (CAT) and superoxide dismutase (SOD), lipid peroxidation level using the thiobarbituric acid reaction (TBARS), and CYP1A protein expression, condition factor (CF) and liver somatic (LSI) index. Taking into account oxidative stress responses, SOD activity was increased in both species, while CAT was increased in C. carpio and decreased in L. obtusidens; TBARS levels indicated that oxidative damage was possibly exerted only in L. obtusidens. Biotransformation responses mediated by CYP1A were observed in both species, while GST activity was induced mainly in carps. Considering morphometric indices, CF and LSI were significantly increased in carps while CF decreased in native species. The anthropogenic pollution detected in this study in Punta Lara was associated with differences in biomarkers on both fish species, although a different pattern of response was observed.Fil: Scarcia, Paola Inés. Determination of bioactive compounds in the juice of pummelo (Citrus grandis Osbeck).

    Get PDF
The juice of pummelo (Citrus grandis Osbeck) was analyzed to determine its composition of flavonoids, polymethoxyflavones, coumarins and psoralens. The analyses were carried out by HPLC using columns packed with small diameter Fused-Core® C18 particles to achieve high resolution in short analysis time. In addition, the profile of the native carotenoids present in the juice was determined using a C30 column. Identification of flavonoids was achieved by MS with ESI in negative mode; the MS acquisition of oxygenated heterocyclic compounds was performed in positive APCI; carotenoids were detected with a PDA detector. Nineteen native carotenoids were determined in pummelo juice for the first time. The composition of this juice is also discussed in comparison with other Citrus juices, especially grapefruit
