AbstractProtected Water Areas and Illegal Activities on Gabon’s CoastlineSince 2002, Gabon has been committed to a policy of biodiversity conservation through institutional and legal efforts to regulate and manage maritime areas. Interest in the maritime and coastal domains has led to the creation of Aquatic Protected Areas (APAs), ecosystems that are home to unique reservoirs of biodiversity. Thanks to these tools, Gabon aims to sustainably exploit and conserve its marine and coastal resources. However, this determination is undermined by a variety of illegal activities. The aim of this article is to reveal the main illegal uses perpetrated in the APAs and the means to counter them. For this purpose, a literature review was carried out, as well as a fieldwork based on semi-directive interviews with administrative agents, economic promoters and local residents of APAs

Proposte di intreccio tra natura e cultura nelle aree protette: il festival Musica in Quota

AbstractProposals for Intertwining Nature and Culture in Protected Areas: the Musica in Quota FestivalIn a context where nature and culture always appear separate, this contribution aims to overcome this dichotomy, proposing a musical festival as an example. Musica in Quota takes place among mountains and protected areas of the Verbano Cusio Ossola province, in the northwest of Piedmont. In the various events of the traveling exhibition, nature becomes the theatre of musical performances. The particular attention to the environmental, social, and economic needs of the local context makes it a virtuous case of programming able to promote the reappropriation of protected spaces through sustainable and participatory cultural practices that translate into active conservation

AbstractWhat Protected Areas in Globalisation? Reflections from the Agro-Pastoral Landscapes of the Maiella National ParkThis paper aims to reflect on a possible interpretation of the role that protectedareas could play in the globalization. Starting from the example of the Maiella National Park (Italy), the paper aims to highlight the role of anthropic action as a key factor that throughout history has contributed to the generation of the current forms of ecosystems, characterized in this context by high levels of biodiversity, especially from the botanical point of view. All this provides an opportunity to reflect on the constructive role played by humankind in ecological dynamics, and so to develop a critical discussion of the significance of protected areas as peculiar places of globalization, capable of conveying crucial ethical values

Agire secondo le parole. In memoria del professor Franco Gnoli

ABSTRACTThe methodological rigor and acting according to words make Professor Franco Gnoli an example to follow. The scientific vision that can be obtained from his works of the Roman public and criminal law, which he studied in an era where was instead prevalent the interest in private law, paved the way for a broad revisitation of Mommsen’s theoretical approaches. This perspective was and still is highly fruitful because it highlighted the unity of the legal phenomenon in the thought of the Roman jurists. His memory is alive in all the students he trained through his rigorous and passionate lessons in Roman Law and who then followed his footsteps in the Academia

AbstractThe recent book by Sandro Schipani, invites legal scholars and, in particular, Roman law scholars, to reflect upon its role and impact. Therefore, we will address the development and diffusion of Roman law, focusing on the authors who contributed to the evolution of this field of law and on Roman law spreading all around the globe. Furthermore, we will consider the equalizing force of Roman law, its expan-sive capacity, and its potential to promote peace within and between nations

La protezione di un territorio rurale fragile: Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela (Portogallo)

AbstractThe Protection of a Fragile Rural Territory: Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela (Portugal)Protected areas are not only characterized as laboratory spaces for the conservation of the environment but also freed from human presence; rather, they are territories where it is essential to guarantee the balance between the protection regime and local socio-economic and cultural activities. This is especially relevant in areas where human presence is constantly shrinking, often associated with a continuous remodeling of the use of space. This paper explores the evolution of protected areas in Portugal, focusing on the Parque Natural da Serra da Estrela, in order to understand the relationship between the establishment of the protected area and the rural vocation that has historically characterized the territory of the most important Portuguese mountain range

Digital Well-Being as a New Kind of Adaptation to the New Millennium Needs: A State-of-the-Art Analysis

AbstractSince technology has been entering into human beings’ everyday life, individuals established a deep relationship with digital technology, thus an embodied link between people and digital instruments has been born. This is particularly evidenced by recent literature about screen time (duration of time spent by the individual in using electronic/digital media like television, smartphone, tablet or computer), it significantly influences different human beings’ dimensions: physical, psychological and neurological functions. Impact of digital technology on human beings can be considered as a result of syntonic functioning in order to improve different people’s life areas (e.g., work, social or intimate relationship, learning), while the dystonic relationship is evidenced as a result of human addiction to digital technology. The present study aims to provide a cognitive and social psychology perspective on how screen time is changing our existences, defining digital technology as a gift which people should be aware of in terms of positive but even negative consequences in everyday life
