Background: This research determines the level of prediction of sensation seeking and self-efficacy on sexual risk behaviors in young Mexicans. The sensations seeking and self-efficacy have a combined impact on the risk sexual behaviors of young people. Method: The sensation seeking and selwef-efficacy were measured with two different scales in a non-probabilistic sample of 1012 young people, between 14 and 22 years old, from Mexico City. Results: showed that three facets of the sensation seeking and two dimensions of self-efficacy have a direct incidence in the sexual risk behavior of young people consistent with the postulated hypothesis and that in combination explain 19.2% of the variance. Conclusions: consider the combined effect of the search for sensation seeking and self-efficacy, as well as the practical implications for the development of preventive programs on sexual risk behavior in young people. Evil as a social construction in the strange case of Dr. Jekyll and mr. Hyde and Lord of the flies
Treballs Finals del Grau d'Estudis Anglesos, Facultat de Filologia, Universitat de Barcelona, Curs:
2017-2018, Tutor: Gemma López[eng] The image of evil in Stevenson's The Strange Case of Dr Jekyll and Mr Hyde and Golding's Lord of
the Flies has traditionally been read as an inherent feature of mankind that is submerged but ever
present. The aim of this dissertation is to challenge that view and demonstrate that evil is a
subjective judgment that is socially constructed and imposed onto the Other. In order to do so, I will
show how Otherness serves as vehicle to invent “the enemy”; a creature that is essentially different
from “Us”. The subjectivity and social construction of evil will be further demonstrated by showing
how the belief in the myth of evil allows characters to perform evil themselves. This is not to say
that we all have an inherent evil side, rather we all have the potentiality for aggression that can be

FIRST-GENERATION STUDENTS AND THE CHALLENGES FACED TOWARDS THEIR SENSE OF COMMUNITY AT A 4-YEAR UNIVERSITY
It takes a village to raise a child. Such simple words, yet the power it holds behind it is something not to be overlooked. The aspect of community, especially in a college campus setting, is something all students should have the opportunity to cherish. From K-12, we slowly begin to create our very own village, filled by various individuals that pertain to one\u27s own experience. These individuals guide us and grant us knowledge when needed most, but as we mature, and at some point, leave this village to begin our journey into adulthood, we find ourselves having to begin anew, and this can be a challenge as a First-generation student. The purpose of the following phenomenological qualitative study is to gain an in-depth understanding of the first-year experience of First-generation students and the way their experiences shaped their sense of being a part of the community at Rowan University
Dancing with physio: a mobile game with physiologically aware virtual humans
This study presents an evaluation of a mobile game with physiologically aware virtual humans as an approach to modulate the participant's affective and physiological state. We developed a mobile version of a virtual reality scenario where the participants were able to interact with virtual human characters through their psychophysiological activity. Music was played in the background of the scenario and, depending on the experimental condition, the virtual humans were initially either barely dancing or dancing very euphorically. The task of the participants was to encourage the apathetic virtual humans to dance or to calm down the frenetically dancing characters, through the modulation of their own mood and physiological activity. Results from our study show that by using this mobile game with the physiologically aware and affective virtual humans the participants were able to emotionally arouse themselves in the Activation condition and were able to relax themselves in the Relaxation condition, during the same session with only a brief break between conditions. The self-reported affective data was also corroborated by the physiological data (heart rate, respiration and skin conductance) which significantly differed between the Activation and Relaxation conditions
Cognitive-motor interventions based on virtual reality and instrumental activities of daily living (iADL): an overview
Non-invasive, non-pharmacological interventions utilizing virtual reality (VR) represent a promising approach to enhancing cognitive function in patients with degenerative cognitive disorders. Traditional “pen and paper” therapies often lack the practical engagement in everyday activities that older individuals encounter in their environment. These activities pose both cognitive and motor challenges, underscoring the necessity of understanding the outcomes of such combined interventions. This review aimed to assess the advantages of VR applications that integrate cognitive-motor tasks, simulating instrumental activities of daily living (iADLs). We systematically searched five databases–Scopus, Web of Science, Springer Link, IEEE Xplore, and PubMed, from their inception until January 31, 2023. Our review revealed that motor movements, coupled with VR-based cognitive-motor interventions, activate specific brain areas and foster improvements in general cognition, executive function, attention, and memory. VR applications that meld cognitive-motor tasks and simulate iADLs can offer significant benefits to older adults. Enhanced cognitive and motor performance can promote increased independence in daily activities, thereby contributing to improved quality of life
