Trangender people (trans people) are those who don’t identify with the gender assigned at birth, regardless the will to align their physical appearance to their gender identity by clinical ou surgical procedures. Historically, they are presented with interaction difficulties with health care professionals, leading to barriers to care and potential risks for health issues. This study results come from an integrative review from the literature aiming to know actions and practices of health care for trans people and the existance of protocols of care for assistance to trans people health demands. The following descriptors were chosen in the virtual health library site (DeCS search): transgender people; transsexualism; protocol; health services; care ambulatory; health services for transgender people and their equivalents in portuguese. The literature search was undertaken in the CAPES, Science Direct, MEDLINE, LILACS and SciELO databases. Entry criteria were: 1) studies that described the health assistance for trans people; 2) studies published from January 2009 to May 2009 and; 3) studies published in English, Spanish or Portuguese. The research methodology included using software Mendeley and checklist PRISMA, recommended for systematic reviws and meta-analysis. The initial sample was of 471 articles. After applying entry and exclusion criteria, six articles remained for analysis. The categories that emerged from reading the articles were: surgical and hormonal interventions importance; civil name change and respect of the social name; negative health outcomes; barriers of health care. Nonetheless, the results allowed to identify some difficulties in this field, such as health system infrastructure, different sociocultural contexts, inexpressive number of health care professionals specialized or even prepared for this assistance, and lack of protocols of trans people health care applied in a consistant way. It’s proposed health education, in which work is done multidisciplinarilly, developing protocols for trans people health care that respect the chosen name and guaranty the disponibility of hormonal therapy, working health promotion actions aiming to reduce the negative outcomes

Microwave transmission in the S Band are used in WiMAX, mobile telephony, air control and satellite communications. Such applications demand the use of wideband optical access networks. In this article, the impact of non-linearities of a fluorescent optical source (FFOS) is analyzed on the performance, at 560 nm, of Discrete-Multitone (DMT) transmissions, using the multicarrier signal-to-noise ratio  (SNRmc) metric. The objective is to provide a  model of SNRmc level curves based on empirical measurements by varying the bias current and the amplitude of the input signal in the optical source. The cartography was approximated by fitting ellipses, which allows us to find an approximate optimum point of operation for the setup.

The present study aims to evaluate the floristic composition of four areas of cerrado senssu stricto to the state of Tocantins, distributed in 9.5 ha. For analysis, select from a list of 75 species and 32 families, listed in four different phytosociological studies conducted in the municipalities of Dueré, Paranã and Gurupi. A multivariate Cluster analysis showed the formation of three groups: Group A formed by the 4 roughly similar areas, with approximately 16% similarity, with only two species linking Parana and other areas Curatella americana L. and Qualea parviflora Mart. Group B consisted of Dueré and two areas of Gurupi and presented approximately 26% similarity, group C was formed by two areas of Gurupi and obtained 12 species in common and a greater similarity, with about 44%. The results highlighted that the geographical proximity, such as soil conditions, altitude and conservation of the areas contributed to the community distribution and floristic composition. It concluded that the floristic and structural difference is greater between the most distant areas than the areas where there is a legal reserve, highlighting the need to create Conservation Units in Tocantins.O presente estudo tem como objetivo avaliar a similaridade entre a composição florística de quatro áreas de cerrado sensu stricto no estado do Tocantins, distribuídos em 9,5 hectares. Aims: Pre-existing conditions, such as age, hypertension, obesity, and diabetes, constitute known risk factors for severe COVID-19. However, the impact of prediabetes mellitus (PDM) on COVID-19 severity is less clear. This study aimed to evaluate the influence of PDM in the acute and long-term phases of COVID-19. Materials and methods: We compared inflammatory mediators, laboratory and clinical parameters and symptoms in COVID-19 patients with prediabetes (PDM) and without diabetes (NDM) during the acute phase of infection and at three months post-hospitalization. Results: Patients with PDM had longer hospital stays and required intensive care unit admission more frequently than NDM. Upon hospitalization, PDM patients exhibited higher serum levels of interleukin 6 (IL-6), which is related to reduced partial pressure of oxygen (PaO2) in arterial blood, oxygen saturation (SpO2) and increased COVID-19 severity. However, at three months after discharge, those with PDM did not exhibit significant alterations in laboratory parameters or residual symptoms; however, PDM was observed to influence the profile of reported symptoms. Conclusions: PDM seems to be associated with increased risk of severe COVID-19, as well as higher serum levels of IL-6, which may constitute a potential biomarker of severe COVID-19 risk in affected patients. Furthermore, while PDM correlated with more severe acute-phase COVID-19, no long-term worsening of sequelae was observed

    Get PDF
Currently only four genome sequences for Limnothrix spp. are publicly available, and information on the genetic properties of cyanobacteria belonging to this genus is limited. In this study, we report the draft genome of Limnothrix sp. CACIAM 69d, isolated from the reservoir of a hydroelectric dam located in the Amazon ecosystem, from where cyanobacterial genomic data are still scarce. Comparative genomic analysis of Limnothrix revealed the presence of key enzymes in the cyanobacterial central carbon metabolism and how it is well equipped for environmental sulfur and nitrogen acquisition. Additionally, this work covered the analysis of Limnothrix CRISPR-Cas systems, pathways related to biosynthesis of secondary metabolites and assembly of extracellular polymeric substances and their exportation. A trans-AT PKS gene cluster was identified in two strains, possibly related to the novel toxin Limnothrixin biosynthesis. Overall, the draft genome of Limnothrix sp. CACIAM 69d adds new data to the small Limnothrix genome library and contributes to a growing representativeness of cyanobacterial genomes from the Amazon region. The comparative genomic analysis of Limnothrix made it possible to highlight unique genes for each strain and understand the overall features of their metabolism
