The article explores some information that had been built on an ethnography of a wholesale shop in the neighborhood of Constitución, where it seeks to both focus and to discuss the relationship between different values – material, moral, ethical and aesthetic – adjacent to the movement of goods and people. Taking as reference the economic anthropology literature, the narrative aims to show how the business operations undertaken, many times in contexts of conflict, promoting the circulation of social values, in which on a daily basis are updated and recorded in a process where the monetary values, the quantities of the coins, the presence or the absence of credit, among others, tell much more than simple exchanges of sale

This paper starts from the proposition to look at the relationships that can be classified as passing between the legal-illegal axis from a perspective of the interests of the actors in society and how they possibly get involved with the interests of actors in street vending regulation agencies in Buenos Aires and Rio de Janeiro. Assuming that it is about different “legal sensibilities”, in Geertz's terms, what is poses is also to look at the police as subjects who are at the two poles of the equation, although with the advantage of the exercise of violence. This situation enables, in many cases - in front of the configurations between interests, trusts and reputations shared - to carry out different ways of earning a living.

The article addresses the professional training policy outlined by the Rio de Janeiro State Secretary for Public Safety, among 2008 and 2017. This period was known for the “pacification policy”. Based on that public politic, the text explores developments with the sectors responsible for police education. Material conditions are explored to situate the way in which the “speech of pacification” was consumed in the schooled spaces for socialization of the PMERJ. The ethnography reveals the existence of a fundamental structural tension, making representations about notions such as change and continuity cross the referred training project. The opposition between theory and practice was reworked in the continuous tension between "change" and "continuity"; new and old police, among other binaries that packed the Pacification Policy.O artigo aborda a política de formação profissional esboçada pela Secretaria de Segurança Pública do Estado do Rio de Janeiro, no período entre 2008 e 2017, período conhecido pela política de pacificação.

Background: Macracantorhincosis is a zoonotic disease resulting from inadequate sanitary conditions, which occurs in pigs infected by acanthocephalic helminths called Macracanthorhynchus hirudinaceus. The eggs of these parasites are resistant to cold, high temperatures and can survive up to three years in the soil. They are consumed by dung beetles of the Scarabeidae family causing the parasite to evolve into its infective form, the cystacanth. The pig becomes infected after ingestion of either larvae or adult forms of these coleoptera. This paper describes a case report of macracantorhincosis found in a pig from the canton of Zaruma located in the province of El Oro, Ecuador. Case: A female pig, approximately 24 months old, weighing 30 kg, presented cachexia, muscle weakness, pale oral and ocular mucosa and a body temperature (rectal) above 39.4°C. The animal had a bulge on the ventral side of the neck, which evolved causing progressive discomfort to the point that the animal stopped eating. The pig was dewormed for three consecutive days. Fifteen days later, the animal had convulsions and muscle tremors, and died some hours after the symptoms started. During necropsy procedure, pale digestive tract membranes and nodules with fibrin were observed in the small intestine (jejunum), which was incised and the presence of parasites adhered to the granulomas detected. Two granulomas for morphological and histological studies and stool samples for coproparasitic test were collected. The collected parasites were fixed in a 10% buffered formalin solution, cross-sections were made and routinely processed for histological studies. The 5-μm-thick sections were stained using the hematoxylin and eosin (HE) technique. The parasite’s action involves perforation of the intestinal wall though its proboscis causing peritonitis and enteritis. Other conditions in intestinal dissection such as necrotic areas, inflammation of the submucosa and adult parasites adhered to the intestinal mucosa were also observed. The coproparasitic examination was performed using the flotation and sedimentation techniques. The coproparasitic test detected dark colored feces, semi-solid consistency and the presence of Macracanthorhynchus hirudinaceu eggs. In the histological evaluation of the cross section of the parasite, the presence of circular and longitudinal muscle fibers and lemniscus with their constrictor muscles was observed. Cuticle, hypodermis with tapered fibers and a large number of developing mature eggs were also reported.   Discussion: There is no pathognomonic symptomatology about this parasitosis, peritonitis can be generated by intestinal perforations. The findings at necropsy were ulcerations, inflammation in the small intestine and the presence of numerous nodules in the serous layer, where there was penetration of the parasite's proboscis. When fixed to the mucosa, these parasites cause ulcerations, inflammation and necrosis in the wall of the small intestine. The hypodermic layer is thicker than the muscular layer and the presence of leminis with their constricting muscles are typical features of acanthocephalus. It is considered appropriate to carry out epidemiological studies on the prevalence of the parasite Macracanthorhynchus hirudinaceus at pig farming system in the region, in order to determine the main risk factors. In Ecuador, cases of this disease in humans have not yet been reported, but have already been described in other countries, so the presence of this parasite in family swine farming may be considered a zoonotic-type risk factor. Keywords: pig, zoonotic disease, macrocanthorhincosis.

The paper reflects upon the relationship between public transport and citizenship in a context of urban transformation motivated by the promotion of major events in Rio de Janeiro. Based on ethnographies carried out in Rio de Janeiro and Buenos Aires, it analyzes perceptions on the use of public transport and what they reveal about the statuses of its users and the organization of society. It argues that experiences with the transit system in Rio de Janeiro represent specific ways of projecting oneself in time and space, resulting in a relatively subordinate combination of political and social values such as equality and freedomO artigo aborda as relações entre transportes públicos e cidadania, em contexto de transformação urbana promovida pelos grandes eventos no Rio de Janeiro, caracterizada como city marketing.
