Senior Tourism: a network science approach over the last twenty years through CiteSpace
Adopting a co-authorship and co-citation network approach, the aim of this paper is to evaluate senior tourism research during the last twenty years and to discover structures in terms of leading papers, journals, authors, countries and institutions. The mapping of bibliometric data use CiteSpace. Data from Scopus build a network of 512 articles. The results reveal a slow increase of research, with the last period including 40.69% of outputs. The most co-cited papers are mainly older, represent 2.73% of the sample and account for 13.24% of citations. The authors with most publications are Jang M and King M, representing 1.95%. The co-cited journals show a core-periphery structure, where Tourism Management is ranked first. The co-authorship network reveals that major collaborative networks are based on geographical and institutional proximity, dominated by the United States. The keyword analysis demonstrates that motivation, attitude, satisfaction, experience, heritage and tourism management are significant areas of emerging research.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio

Assessing educational leadership: a competence-complexity based test
This study is focused on the validation of a leadership test, based on a complex model of leadership skills, as a tool for assessing teacher’s educational competence, viewed as important in conduting adolescent and adult learning classes. Its specific purpose is to establish the norms and interpretation criteria for the test, in educational contexts. The model highlights the skills for leadership effectiveness, in a definite cultural setting, the Academy of East Timor National Police, viewing leadership as an essential way of steering human systems. The postulates of the model hypothesize the positivity of leadership as a result from an appropriate combination of power and information, while executing the fundamental activities of dinamizing and controlling the performance and results of the learning ativities. The test was applied to a sample of trainees in an educational military context, the Academy of East Timor National Police. The results of their evaluations on each competence for leadership effectiveness were valid and reliable. Nevertheless, the authors plan to test this tool in other specific contexts, in order to complete the evaluation of the leadership complex set of competences required by educational contexts.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio

Thermal stability of reactive sputtered tungsten oxide coatings
The thermal stability of different W-O coatings, W100, W90O10, W54O46, W30O70 and W25O75, were studied by in-situ X-ray diffraction at elevated temperatures up to 900 °C. The coatings were deposited by DC reactive magnetron sputtering from a pure tungsten target in an Ar + O2 atmosphere onto Fecralloy alloy. The evolution of the structure of the coatings was studied in both protective and oxidant atmospheres. Three groups of films were identified: (1) W25O75 which showed structural evolution following the W-O phase diagram; (2) amorphous O-deficient WO3 whose structure followed the W-O phase diagram either as WO3 or as its chemical composition depending on annealing in oxidant or protective atmospheres, respectively; and (3) low O-content crystalline films that oxidized from 500 °C.http://www.sciencedirect.com/science/article/B6TVV-4MV74W9-1/1/f13fd19171ebf6554fff185464ae87e
Bibliometric analysis and trends: an application in senior tourism
This study applies bibliometric analysis to senior tourism research from 1998 to 2017, identifies its intellectual structure, emerging trends, and future research opportunities. A detailed search of documents collated from Web-of-Science and Scopus was implemented and analyzed through CiteSpace. The results reveal a slowly increasing growth of research with six main areas of research. The network of journals shows a core peripheral structure with Tourism Management ranked first. Among countries’ publications, the United States leads in volume. The identification of structural holes, the keyword analysis and development of emerging tendencies highlights priorities in senior tourism pointing to new opportunities for research. This study is differentiated from others by its temporal and dynamic analysis of the last two decades, utilizing CiteSpace for a co-citation and co-occurrence network analysis. As a result, the researchers and the hospitality sector were equipped with new exploration tools.info:eu-repo/semantics/acceptedVersio
Apparent dominance of the G1-G3 genetic cluster of echinococcus granulosus strains in the central inland region of Portugal
Infection by the larval stage of the cestode Echinococcus granulosus causes a disease
known as cystic echinococcosis or hydatidosis, which is one of the most widespread
zoonotic infections of veterinary and medical importance. Numerous studies have
shown that E. granulosus exists as a complex of strains differing in a wide variety of
criteria. Ten distinct genotypes (G1-G10) have been identified with potential impact on
the pathology, epidemiology and the effect of the measures implemented for the control
of hydatidosis. Our main objective was to carry out a preliminary analysis of the
genotypes of E. granulosus circulating in the central inland region of Portugal.
Parasite samples (hydatid cysts, n=27) were isolated from the liver and lung of sheep
and cattle. The DNA extracted from protoscoleces isolated from the fertile cysts served
a template for the PCR amplification of part of the mitochondrial cytochrome c oxidase
subunit 1 (cox1), ATP synthase F0 subunit 6 (atp6) as well as the large (rrnL/16S) and
small (rrnS/12S) ribosomal RNA genes. Similarity searches with homologous
sequences in the databanks indicated very high similarity with references assigned to the
G1, G3 and/or G1-G3 complex of Echinococcus strains. Phylogenetic analysis
(Bayesian approach) supported these observations, and confirmed the assignment of all
the analyzed sequences to the G1-G3 genetic cluster
