    Many factors influence small farmers to use organic fertilizers in their farming. This study was to analyze the effect of the socio-economic factors of farmers using organic fertilizers on mustard farming. The data used in this study are primary data and secondary data. The method of determining the sample used a census and the determination of the research area was carried out purposively (purposive). Data analysis using binary logistic regression analysis. The results of the study found that the socio-economic factors that influenced farmers using organic fertilizers were age and income, while formal education, non-formal education, farming experience, income level, land area, production costs, and income did not affect

    Magnetic relaxation and magnetization field dependence measurements in La0.5Ca0.5MnO3

    We reported a systematic change in the average magnetic relaxation rate, after the application and removal of a 5 T magnetic field, in a polycrystalline sample of La0.5Ca0.5MnO3. Magnetic relaxation measurements and magnetization versus field curves were taken from 10 K to 160 K. The long time behavior of the relaxation curves was approximately logarithmic in all cases.     Light Charged Higgs Bosons in Supersymmetric Models

    We point out that present experimental limits from searches for neutral Higgs bosons at LEP already imply stringent lower bounds on the mass of the charged Higgs boson in the Minimal Supersymmetric Standard Model (MSSM); these bounds are especially severe for low values of \tanb (\tanb \leq 3), where the H+tˉbH^+ \bar{t} b coupling is large. However, these indirect constraints are much weaker in simple extensions of the MSSM Higgs sector involving the introduction of an extra U(1) gauge group or an extra SU(2)×U(1)YSU(2) \times U(1)_Y Higgs singlet field; in the latter case charged Higgs bosons can even be light enough to be pair produced at LEP.Comment: LaTeX with equation.sty, 3 PS figures.     Diabetes is linked to a wide range of reproductive health problems, including delayed puberty and menarche, irregular menstruation, decreased fertility, unfavorable pregnancy outcomes, and perhaps an early menopause. Depending on the age of the diabetes diagnosis, these issues may appear during puberty, later when fertility is desired, or even during the menopause transition. In the past, amenorrhea and infertility in women with type 1 diabetes were frequently brought on by central hypogonadism. Although these problems have decreased as a result of improvements in metabolic regulation and insulin therapy, they still exist. Other reproductive effects of modern diabetes therapy, like polycystic ovarian syndrome and hyperandrogenism, influenced by insulin's action on the ovaries, have also come to light. Type 2 diabetes is becoming increasingly common in young people, which suggests that more women who are of reproductive age will face difficulties getting pregnant as a result of their diabetes. Healthcare professionals need to be knowledgeable and ready to handle the difficulties of managing reproductive health issues across the lifetime as the number of young women with diabetes keeps growing. Plant-based phytoextracts have drawn interest as potential alternative therapies for controlling diabetes and enhancing reproductive outcomes. According to studies, several phytoextracts may have qualities including insulin sensitization, anti-inflammatory activity, and antioxidants that are good for female reproductive health. Understanding the interactions between female reproductive physiology and diabetes can help overall, and phytoextract supplementation may offer valuable insights into developing personalized and effective interventions to enhance reproductive outcomes and the overall well-being of women with diabetes. This review aims to provide a comprehensive overview of the physiology of female reproduction in the context of diabetes mellitus and investigate the potential impact of phytoextract supplementation on reproductive outcomes. By synthesizing existing literature, the aim is to highlight the pathophysiological mechanisms underlying the adverse effects of diabetes on the female reproductive system and explore the potential benefits of natural plant-derived compounds in mitigating these effect

    Corneal infection models : tools to investigate the role of biofilms in bacterial keratitis

    Bacterial keratitis is a corneal infection which may cause visual impairment or even loss of the infected eye. It remains a major cause of blindness in the developing world. Staphylococcus aureus and Pseudomonas aeruginosa are common causative agents and these bacterial species are known to colonise the corneal surface as biofilm populations. Biofilms are complex bacterial communities encased in an extracellular polymeric matrix and are notoriously difficult to eradicate once established. Biofilm bacteria exhibit different phenotypic characteristics from their planktonic counterparts, including an increased resistance to antibiotics and the host immune response. Therefore, understanding the role of biofilms will be essential in the development of new ophthalmic antimicrobials. A brief overview of biofilm-specific resistance mechanisms is provided, but this is a highly multifactorial and rapidly expanding field that warrants further research. Progression in this field is dependent on the development of suitable biofilm models that acknowledge the complexity of the ocular environment. Abiotic models of biofilm formation (where biofilms are studied on non-living surfaces) currently dominate the literature, but co-culture infection models are beginning to emerge. In vitro, ex vivo and in vivo corneal infection models have now been reported which use a variety of different experimental techniques and animal models.     ThermoElectric Transport Properties of a Chain of Quantum Dots with Self-Consistent Reservoirs

    We introduce a model for charge and heat transport based on the Landauer-Buttiker scattering approach. The system consists of a chain of NN quantum dots, each of them being coupled to a particle reservoir. Additionally, the left and right ends of the chain are coupled to two particle reservoirs. All these reservoirs are independent and can be described by any of the standard physical distributions: Maxwell-Boltzmann, Fermi-Dirac and Bose-Einstein. In the linear response regime, and under some assumptions, we first describe the general transport properties of the system. Then we impose the self-consistency condition, i.e. we fix the boundary values (T_L,\mu_L) and (T_R,mu_R), and adjust the parameters (T_i,mu_i), for i = 1,...,N, so that the net average electric and heat currents into all the intermediate reservoirs vanish. This condition leads to expressions for the temperature and chemical potential profiles along the system, which turn out to be independent of the distribution describing the reservoirs. We also determine the average electric and heat currents flowing through the system and present some numerical results, using random matrix theory, showing that these currents are typically governed by Ohm and Fourier laws.Comment: Minor changes (45 pages

    Background: Mesenchymal stromal cells (MSC) possess immunomodulatory properties and low immunogenicity, both crucial properties for their development into an effective cellular immunotherapy. They have shown benefit in clinical trials targeting liver diseases; however the efficacy of MSC therapy will benefit from improvement of the immunomodulatory and immunogenic properties of MSC. Methods: MSC derived from human umbilical cords (ucMSC) were treated for 3 days in vitro with various inflammatory factors, interleukins, vitamins and serum deprivation. Their immunogenicity and immunomodulatory capacity were examined by gene-expression analysis, surface-marker expressions, IDO activity, PGE2 secretion and inhibition of T cell proliferation and IFNγ production. We review the physics of the Higgs sector in the Standard Model and some of its extensions such as supersymmetric theories and models of extra dimensions.
