Diffusion in Stationary Flow from Mesoscopic Non-equilibrium Thermodynamics
We analyze the diffusion of a Brownian particle in a fluid under stationary
flow. By using the scheme of non-equilibrium thermodynamics in phase space, we
obtain the Fokker-Planck equation which is compared with others derived from
kinetic theory and projector operator techniques. That equation exhibits
violation of the fluctuation dissipation-theorem. By implementing the
hydrodynamic regime described by the first moments of the non-equilibrium
distribution, we find relaxation equations for the diffusion current and
pressure tensor, allowing us to arrive at a complete description of the system
in the inertial and diffusion regimes. The simplicity and generality of the
method we propose, makes it applicable to more complex situations, often
encountered in problems of soft condensed matter, in which not only one but

Planar Supersymmetric Quantum Mechanics of a Charged Particle in an External Electromagnetic Field
The supersymmetric quantum mechanics of a two-dimensional non-relativistic
particle subject to external magnetic and electric fields is studied in a
superfield formulation and with the typical non-minimal coupling of (2+1)
dimensions. Both the N=1 and N=2 cases are contemplated and the introduction of

Supersymmetric CP Violation in in Minimal Supergravity Model
Direct CP asymmetries and the CP violating normal polarization of lepton in
inclusive decay B \to X_s l^+ l^- are investigated in minimal supergravity
model with CP violating phases. The contributions coming from exchanging
neutral Higgs bosons are included. It is shown that the direct CP violation in
branching ratio, A_{CP}^1, is of {\cal{O}}(10^{-3}) for l=e, \mu, \tau. The CP
violating normal polarization for l=\mu can reach 0.5 percent when tan\beta is
large (say, 36). For l=\tau and in the case of large \tan\beta, the direct CP
violation in backward-forward asymmetry, A_{CP}^2, can reach one percent, the
normal polarization of \tau can be as large as a few percent, and both are
sensitive to the two CP violating phases, \phi_\mu and \phi_{A_0}, and
consequently it could be possible to observe them (in particular, the normal

Frame Theory for Signal Processing in Psychoacoustics
This review chapter aims to strengthen the link between frame theory and
signal processing tasks in psychoacoustics. On the one side, the basic concepts
of frame theory are presented and some proofs are provided to explain those
concepts in some detail. The goal is to reveal to hearing scientists how this
mathematical theory could be relevant for their research. In particular, we
focus on frame theory in a filter bank approach, which is probably the most
relevant view-point for audio signal processing. On the other side, basic
psychoacoustic concepts are presented to stimulate mathematicians to apply
their knowledge in this field
Slepton Flavor Nonuniversality, the Muon EDM and its Proposed sensitive Search at Brookhaven
We analyze the electric dipole moment of the electron (), of the neutron
() and of the muon () using the cancellation mechanism in the
presence of nonuniversalities of the soft breaking parameters. It is shown that
the nonuniversalities in the slepton sector produce a strong violation of the
scaling relation in the cancellation region. An
analysis of and under the constraints of the current
experimental limits on and and under the constraints of the recent
Brookhaven result on shows that in the non-scaling region
can be as large as ()ecm and thus within reach of the
recently proposed Brookhaven experiment for a sensitive search for at

Effects of Large CP violating phases on g_{\m}-2 in MSSM
Effects of CP violation on the supersymmetric electro-weak correction to the
anomalous magnetic moment of the muon are investigated with the most general
allowed set of CP violating phases in MSSM. The analysis includes contributions
from the chargino and the neutralino exchanges to the muon anomaly. The
supersymmetric contributions depend only on specific combinations of CP phases.
The independent set of such phases is classified. We analyse the effects of the
phases under the EDM constraints and show that large CP violating phases can
drastically affect the magnitude of the supersymmetric electro-weak
contribution to and may even affect its overall sign.Comment: 26 pages Latex file including 4 figure
The anomalous Higgs-top couplings in the MSSM
The anomalous couplings of the top quark and the Higgs boson has been studied
in an effective theory resulting in the framework of the minimal supersymmetric
extension of the standard model (MSSM) when the heavy fields are integrated
out. Constraints on the parameters of the model from the experimental data on

Planck-scale quintessence and the physics of structure formation
In a recent paper we considered the possibility of a scalar field providing
an explanation for the cosmic acceleration. Our model had the interesting
properties of attractor-like behavior and having its parameters of O(1) in
Planck units. Here we discuss the effect of the field on large scale structure
and CMB anisotropies. We show how some versions of our model inspired by
"brane" physics have novel features due to the fact that the scalar field has a
significant role over a wider range of redshifts than for typical "dark energy"
models. One of these features is the additional suppression of the formation of
large scale structure, as compared with cosmological constant models. In light
of the new pressures being placed on cosmological parameters (in particular
H_0) by CMB data, this added suppression allows our "brane" models to give
excellent fits to both CMB and large scale structure data.Comment: 18 pages, 12 figures, submitted to PR
Efficacy and safety with ticagrelor in patients with prior myocardial infarction in the approved European label: insights from PEGASUS-TIMI 54
Aims
In PEGASUS-TIMI 54, ticagrelor significantly reduced the risk of the composite of major adverse cardiovascular (CV) events by 15–16% in stable patients with a prior myocardial infarction (MI) 1–3 years earlier. We report the efficacy and safety in the subpopulation recommended for treatment in the European (EU) label, i.e. treatment with 60 mg b.i.d. initiated up to 2 years from the MI, or within 1 year after stopping previous adenosine diphosphate receptor inhibitor treatment.
Methods and results
Of the 21 162 patients enrolled in PEGASUS-TIMI 54, 10 779 patients were included in the primary analysis for this study, randomized to ticagrelor 60 mg (n = 5388) or matching placebo (n = 5391). The cumulative proportions of patients with events at 36 months were calculated by the Kaplan–Meier (KM) method. The composite of CV death, MI, or stroke occurred less frequently in the ticagrelor group (7.9% KM rate vs. 9.6%), hazard ratio (HR) 0.80 [95% confidence interval (CI) 0.70–0.91; P = 0.001]. Ticagrelor also reduced the risk of all-cause mortality, HR 0.80 (0.67–0.96; P = 0.018). Thrombolysis in myocardial infarction major bleeding was more frequent in the ticagrelor group 2.5% vs. 1.1%; HR 2.36 (1.65–3.39; P < 0.001). The corresponding HR for fatal or intracranial bleeding was 1.17 (0.68–2.01; P = 0.58).
Conclusion
In PEGASUS-TIMI 54, treatment with ticagrelor 60 mg as recommended in the EU label, was associated with a relative risk reduction of 20% in CV death, MI, or stroke. Thrombolysis in myocardial infarction major bleeding was increased, but fatal or intracranial bleeding was similar to placebo. There appears to be a favourable benefit-risk ratio for long-term ticagrelor 60 mg in this population.
