Dissipative quantum systems modeled by a two level reservoir coupling
The coupling between a quantum dynamical system and a two-level system
reservoir is analysed within the framework of the Feynman-Vernon theory. We
stress the differences between this new reservoir and the well-known bath of
oscillators and show that, in order to obtain the Langevin equation for the
system of interest in the high temperature regime, we have to choose a spectral
distribution function which is finite for .Comment: 6 pages, RevteX, preprint UNICAM

An alternative approach for the dynamics of polarons in one dimension
We developed a new method based on functional integration to treat the
dynamics of polarons in one-dimensional systems. We treat the acoustical and
the optical case in an unified manner, showing their differences and
similarities. The mobility and diffusion coefficients are calculated in the
Markovian approximation in the strong coupling limit.Comment: 57 page
Applications of quantum integrable systems
We present two applications of quantum integrable systems. First, we predict
that it is possible to generate high harmonics from solid state devices by
demostrating that the emission spectrum for a minimally coupled laser field of
frequency to an impurity system of a quantum wire, contains multiples
of the incoming frequency. Second, evaluating expressions for the conductance
in the high temperature regime we show that the caracteristic filling fractions
of the Jain sequence, which occur in the fractional quantum Hall effect, can be
obtained from quantum wires which are described by minimal affine Toda field
theories.Comment: 25 pages of LaTex, 4 figures, based on talk at the 6-th international

Bound states of bosons and fermions in a mixed vector-scalar coupling with unequal shapes for the potentials
The Klein-Gordon and the Dirac equations with vector and scalar potentials
are investigated under a more general condition, . These intrinsically relativistic and isospectral problems
are solved in a case of squared hyperbolic potential functions and bound states
for either particles or antiparticles are found. The eigenvalues and
eigenfuntions are discussed in some detail and the effective Compton wavelength
is revealed to be an important physical quantity. It is revealed that a boson
is better localized than a fermion when they have the same mass and are
subjected to the same potentials.Comment: 3 figure
Algebraic computation of some intersection D-modules
Let be a complex analytic manifold, a locally

regular holonomic D-module whose de Rham complex is the intersection complex

Knowledge Annotation within Research Data Management System for Oxygen-Free Production Technologies
The comprehensive implementation of digital technologies in product manufacturing leads to changes in engineering processes and requires new approaches to data management. An important role belongs to the processes of organizing the collection, storage and reuse of research data obtained and used in the process of product, system or technology development, taking into account the FAIR data principles. This article describes a Research Data Management System for the organization of documentation and measurement requests in the research and development of new oxygen-free production technologies
The Portuguese grapevine cultivar 'Amaral': synonymies, homonymies and misnames
Within Western Europe, Portugal is the country with highest diversity of grapevine cultivars. As the Iberian Peninsula has been considered a domestication centre of grapevines, the interest on Portuguese grapevine cultivars diversity has increased in the last years.Using twelve SSR markers scattered across twelve grape chromosomes, thirty-three accessions collected on Vinhos Verdes and Lafões Controlled Designations of Origin (DOC) and supposedly of the grapevine cultivar 'Amaral', were analysed. Names of the accessions ranged from 'Amaral' and 'Azal Tinto' to 'Sousão Galego'. Eight different genotypes were detected. The majority of accessions had the genotype attributed to 'Amaral'. However, three accessions were identified as misnaming cases and four genotypes were considered unknown, as no cultivar identification was achieved. Nevertheless, not only the misnamed cultivars, 'Vinhão', 'Melhorio' and 'Touriga Nacional', but also the four unknown genotypes, 'Azal Tinto' (AT2203 and AT2206), 'Amaral-1', 'Amaral-2' and 'Sousão Galego', share at least one allele in each of the 12 SSR loci analysed. The accessions AT2203 and AT2206 were found as possible offspring of 'Amaral' and 'Folgasão' and the accession 'Amaral-2' is likely result of a cross between 'Amaral' and 'Pedral'.The high number of synonym names that are attributed to 'Amaral', like 'Azal Tinto', 'Azar', 'Cainho' or 'Susão Galego' and the fact that it probably has parent-offspring relations with many cultivars, suggests that 'Amaral' is an ancient cultivar in the Northwest of the Iberian Peninsula and was a very important cultivar in the past.
Corn root morphoanatomy at different development stages and yield under water stress.
The objective of this work was to characterize the morphoanatomy of roots and the yield traits of two corn hybrids contrasting for drought tolerance (DKB 390, tolerant; and BRS 1030, sensitive), at different stages of development. Water deficit was imposed for ten days, in a greenhouse, at three growth stages: V5, VT, and R3. These treatments were combined to generate cumulative stress during the plant cycle, as: V5VT, V5R3, VTR3, and V5VTR3. The following were analyzed: root anatomy; proportion of aerenchyma in the cortex; metaxylem number and diameter; phloem thickness; as well as morphological characteristics, such as root length, volume, and surface area, specific root length, length of fine roots, grain yield, and ear length and diameter. Development stage affected the responses to stress: DKB 390 showed the best performance for root morphoanatomy and yield traits, under drought stress, at the reproductive stages, mainly R3, and in the treatments with cumulative stress, especially V5VTR3; whereas BRS 1030 presented higher means for the studied parameters, mainly at the V5 and VT stages, but did not show a higher grain yield under water stress. The greater tolerance of the DKB 390 hybrid to water deficit is probably linked with a memory of pre?exposure to water stress at different growth stages
