Dynamics of three-body correlations in quenched unitary Bose gases
We investigate dynamical three-body correlations in the Bose gas during the
earliest stages of evolution after a quench to the unitary regime. The
development of few-body correlations is theoretically observed by determining
the two- and three-body contacts. We find that the growth of three-body
correlations is gradual compared to two-body correlations. The three-body
contact oscillates coherently, and we identify this as a signature of Efimov
trimers. We show that the growth of three-body correlations depends
non-trivially on parameters derived from both the density and Efimov physics.
These results demonstrate the violation of scaling invariance of unitary
bosonic systems via the appearance of log-periodic modulation of three-body
correlations
On the Appearance of Families of Efimov States in the Spinor Three-Body Problem
Few-body systems with access to multiple internal levels exhibit richness
beyond that typically found in their single-level counterparts. One example is
that of Efimov states in strongly-correlated spinor three-body systems. In [V.

Scattering hypervolume for ultracold bosons from weak to strong interactions
The elastic scattering properties of three bosons at low energy enter the
many-body description of ultracold Bose gases via the three-body scattering
hypervolume . We study this quantity for identical bosons that interact via
a pairwise finite-range potential. Our calculations cover the regime from
strongly repulsive potentials towards attractive potentials supporting multiple
two-body bound states and are consistent with the few existing predictions for
. We present the first numerical confirmation of the universal predictions
for in the strongly interacting regime, where Efimov physics dominates, for
a local nonzero-range potential. Our findings highlight how is influenced
by three-body quasibound states with strong -wave or -wave
characteristics in the weakly interacting regime.Comment: 13 pages, 8 figure
SPARC Controls Melanoma Cell Plasticity through Rac1.
Cell transition to a more aggressive mesenchymal-like phenotype is a hallmark of cancer progression that involves different steps and requires tightly regulated cell plasticity. SPARC (Secreted Protein Acidic and Rich in Cysteine) is a matricellular protein that promotes this transition in various malignant cell types, including melanoma cells. We found that suppression of SPARC expression in human melanoma cells compromised cell migration, adhesion, cytoskeleton structure, and cell size. These changes involved the Akt/mTOR pathway. Re-expression of SPARC or protein addition restored all the cell features. Suppression of SPARC expression was associated with increased Rac1-GTP levels and its membrane localization. Expression of the dominant negative mutant of Rac1 counteracted almost all the changes observed in SPARC-deficient cells. Overall, these data suggest that most of the SPARC-mediated effects occurred mainly through the blockade of Rac1 activity.Fil: Salvatierra Colussi, Edgardo Enrique. Evaluation of internal reference genes for quantitative expression analysis by real-time reverse transcription-PCR in somatic cells from goat milk
Reverse transcription (RT) quantitative real-time PCR (qPCR) is the most accurate and easy-to-perform technique to measure the expression level of a selected gene of interest by quantifying mRNA transcripts. The use of reference genes is commonly accepted as the most reliable approach to normalize RT-qPCR data and reduce possible errors generated in the quantification of gene expression. The optimal number and choice of reference genes are experimentally validated for specific tissues or cell types and experimental designs. To date, data on qPCR normalization in goats are scarce and the most suitable reference genes in this species have been identified for only a limited number of tissues. The aim of this study was to determine an optimal combination of stably expressed reference genes in caprine milk somatic cells (MSC) from healthy and infected mammary glands. For the purpose, we performed RT-qPCR for 10 commonly used reference genes from various functional classes and then determined their expression level in MSC from goats intramammary challenged with Staphylococcus aureus and in MSC from healthy controls, with a view to select genes whose stability would be unaffected under infection conditions. The geNorm and NormFinder algorithms were used for validating the reference genes. Furthermore, to demonstrate the importance of normalization of gene expression with appropriate reference genes, we tested the effect of using a combination of the least stable genes for expression analysis evaluation. On the basis of our evaluation, we recommend the use of a panel of reference genes that should include G6PD, YWHAZ, and ACTB for caprine MSC gene expression profiling. The expression of the 2 genes of interest, pentraxin-related protein (PTX3) and secreted phosphoprotein 1 (SPP1), was evaluated by RT-qPCR in all samples collected pre- and postinfection, and the recommended reference genes were used to normalize the data. Our study provides a validated panel of optimal reference genes for the identification of genes differentially expressed by qRT-PCR in caprine MSC. Moreover, we provided a set of intron-spanning primer sequences that could be suitable for gene expression experiments using SYBR Green chemistry on other caprine tissues and cells
INFLUÊNCIA DA DISPONIBILIDADE DE SOMBRA A PASTO SOBRE A MORFOLOGIA ESPERMÁTICA DE TOUROS DA RAÇA BRAHMAN (Bos taurus indicus) CRIADOS NA REGIÃO SUDESTE DO BRASIL
Under heat stress conditions, testicular degeneration can occur, even on zebu animals. Therefore, the aim of this work was to verify the occurrence of any possible effect of shadow availability on pasture on spermatic morphology of Brahman Bulls on Brazil Southeast. Five animals were allocated on pasture with shadow availability, and five bulls were allocated on pasture without any kind of shadow. No difference was observed (P>0.05) in any of the characteristics analyzed when Brahman bulls were maintained on pastures with or without shadow availability
