Newtonian M(atrix) Cosmology
A Newtonian matrix cosmology, correspoding to the BFSS model of
eleven-dimensional M-theory in the IMF as a (0+1) M(atrix) model is
constructed. Interesting new results are obtained, such as the existence of
(much sought for in the past) static solutions. The possible interpretation of
the off-diagonal entries as a background geometry is also briefly discussed.Comment: 9 pages, Latex2

Activity of alumina supported fe catalysts for N2O decomposition: Effects of the iron content and thermal treatment
Indexación: Scopus.The activity of Fe2O3/Al2O3 catalysts prepared by impregnation of Al2O3 with different amounts of Fe and calcination temperatures (650 and 900 °C) in the direct N2O decomposition reaction was studied. High calcination temperature was introduced to study the effect of "aging", which are the conditions prevailing in the process-gas option for N2O abatement. The catalysts were characterized by BET, XRD, UV-DRS, and H2-TPR. The incorporation of Fe promotes the alumina phase transition (g-Al2O3 to a-Al2O3) when the catalysts are calcined at 900 °C, which is accompanied by a decrease in the specifc area. The activity of the catalysts and the specifc surface area depend on Fe loading and calcination temperature. It was found that highly dispersed Fe species are more active than bulk type Fe2O3 particles. We conclude that Fe2O3/Al2O3 catalysts prepared by impregnation method are active in the decomposition of N2O, to be used at low or high reaction temperatures (tail-gas or process-gas treatments, respectively), as part of nitric acid production plant. © 2018 Sociedad Chilena de Quimica. Conformal and non Conformal Dilaton Gravity
The quantum dynamics of the gravitational field non-minimally coupled to an
(also dynamical) scalar field is studied in the {\em broken phase}. For a
particular value of the coupling the system is classically conformal, and can
actually be understood as the group averaging of Einstein-Hilbert's action
under conformal transformations. Conformal invariance implies a simple Ward
identity asserting that the trace of the equation of motion for the graviton is
the equation of motion of the scalar field. We perform an explicit one-loop
computation to show that the DeWitt effective action is not UV divergent {\em
on shell} and to find that the Weyl symmetry Ward identity is preserved {\em on
shell} at that level. We also discuss the fate of this Ward identity at the
two-loop level --under the assumption that the two-loop UV divergent part of
the effective action can be retrieved from the Goroff-Sagnotti counterterm--
and show that its preservation in the renormalized theory requires the
introduction of counterterms which exhibit a logarithmic dependence on the

Non-integrability of the Armbruster-Guckenheimer-Kim quartic Hamiltonian through Morales-Ramis theory
We show the non-integrability of the three-parameter
Armburster-Guckenheimer-Kim quartic Hamiltonian using Morales-Ramis theory,
with the exception of the three already known integrable cases. We use
Poincar\'e sections to illustrate the breakdown of regular motion for some

Unimodular Trees versus Einstein Trees
The maximally helicity violating (MHV) tree level scattering amplitudes
involving three, four or five gravitons are worked out in Unimodular Gravity.
They are found to coincide with the corresponding amplitudes in General
Relativity. This a remarkable result, insofar as both the propagators and the

Gamow-Teller strength distributions in Fe and Ni stable isotopes
We study Gamow-Teller strength distributions in some selected nuclei of
particular Astrophysical interest within the iron mass region. The theoretical
framework is based on a proton-neutron Quasiparticle Random Phase Approximation
built on a deformed selfconsistent mean field basis obtained from two-body
density-dependent Skyrme forces. We compare our results to available
experimental information obtained from (n,p) and (p,n) charge exchange

Optical and near-infrared spectrophotometric properties of Long Period Variables and other luminous red stars
Based on a new and large sample of optical and near-infrared spectra obtained
at the Mount Stromlo and Siding Spring Observatories (Lancon & Wood 1998;
Lancon & Wood, in preparation), spectrophotometric properties of cool oxygen-
and carbon-rich Long Period Variables and supergiants are presented.
Temperatures of oxygen-rich stars are assigned by comparison with synthetic
spectra computed from up-to-date oxygen-rich model atmosphere grids. The
existence of reliable optical and near-infrared temperature indicators is
investigated. A narrow relation between the bolometric correction BC(I) and the
broad-band colour I-J is obtained for oxygen-rich cool stars. The ability of
specific near-infrared indices to separate luminosity classes, atmospheric
chemistry or variability subtypes is discussed. Some comments are also given on
extinction effects, water band strengths in Long Period Variables and the
