Preference Intensity in Positional Voting

We report a laboratory experiment on strategic manipulation in positional rules, by which individuals are asked to elicit a complete ranking over 3 alternatives. The prominent rule in this set is the so-called Borda Count, but our experiment also considers other rules in which we increase the score associated to the second-best candidate and vary the monetary prizes in case of a victory of the latter (“preference intensity”). Our results suggest that, as standard game-theoretic logic would suggest, when the intermediate scores and prizes increase, strategic manipulation is reduced. We also see that group size affects the likelihood of strategic manipulation in a non-linear fashion, and mostly depends on how the intermediate score is manipulated. Fracturas de extremidad proximal de cubito en el niño

Las fracturas y epifisiolisis proximales de cubito, son lesiones raras y cuando se producen suelen estar mínimamente ó no desplazadas, pudiendo ser tratadas de forma conservadoras. En los casos en que existe desplazamiento significativo, requieren reducción abierta y osteosíntesis. Independientemente del tipo de tratamiento utilizado, el resultado final suele ser satisfactorio. Realizamos un estudio retrospectivo de 13 casos de fractura-epifisiolisis de extremo proximal de cubito, ocurridas durante el periodo 1992-2001. Nuestro objetivo es analizar los resultados obtenidos en el tratamiento de las lesiones y realizar una revisión bibliográfica, teniendo en cuenta los distintos métodos de clasificación, valoración de resultados y las valoraciones descritas para la iniciación de tratamiento quirúrgico de estas lesiones.The epiphysiolisis and proximal lunar fractures in children rare injuries and usually the aren't displaced. Proyecto de centro expositor ferial en Cholula, Puebla

"A medida que las ciudades crecen y aunando sus prácticas sociales se requieren de más espacios urbano-arquitectónicos, que permitan que sus habitantes tengan una mejor calidad de vida. Atendiendo al área de Cholula, que se ha visto carecida de espacios los cuales permitan desarrollar las actividades feriales que anualmente se tienen contempladas por sus habitantes. Y en base a una encuesta realizada a la población del área de estudio se concluyó que la misma requiere del desarrollo de un Centro Expositor Ferial que satisfaga sus necesidades y complemente la vida productiva de Cholula. Con la carencia de espacios adecuados para la realización de las exposiciones feriales significa, llevar a cabo actividades a la intemperie, que aumentan el problema vial de la zona; provocando una gran acumulación de basura, inseguridad a expositores y visitantes.

Desarrollo de una forma de onda GFDM con radio definida por software

In this paper the performance of a Generalized Frequency Division Multiplexing waveform is evaluated when compared to an Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing signal. For the development of the previous waveforms, the GNU radio software and the Software Defined Radio (SDR) equipment USRP N210 are used. Through a spectrum analyzer the power of both waveforms are measured and the Out-of-Band Radiation is analyzed. Then, the results obtained are compared and the advantages and disadvantages of the implementation of GFDM as a waveform within the fifth generation systems are exposed.En este documento se evalúa el desempeño de una forma de onda GFDM (Generalized Frequency Division Multiplexing) que es comparada con una señal OFDM (Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing). Para el desarrollo de las anteriores formas de onda se utilizan el software GNU radio y los equipos de Radio Definida por Software (SDR) USRP N210. Mediante un analizador de espectros se mide la potencia de ambas formas de onda y se analiza la Radiación Fuera de Banda (OOB). Luego, se comparan los resultados obtenidos y se exponen las ventajas e inconvenientes de la implementación de GFDM como forma de onda dentro de los sistemas de quinta generación

Quantification of growth factors by using a new system for obtaining platelet-rich plasma

Objective: To verify the performance of a new method for obtaining platelet-rich plasma, while avoiding contamination of the sample during its processing. Study Design: Twenty healthy patients were selected, from whom 21 ml of blood was extracted. We then pro-Design: extracted. We proceeded to study the platelets and growth factors in basal blood after centrifuging the sample by using a new closed system for obtaining platelet-rich plasma (PRP). Results: After centrifuging the blood sample, double the amount of platelets as that found in basal blood was obtained. Of the four growth factors analyzed, only the factor similar to insulin (IGF) contained the same concentration after the centrifuge process. The platelet-derived growth factor (PDGF) and the vascular growth factor (VGF) were multiplied by six with respect to the basal values and disproportionately increased the levels of the transforming growth factor ? (TGF-?). Conclusions: The new closed method for obtaining PRP, after avoiding contamination of the sample following its use, offers levels of platelet concentrate and growth factors necessary for regeneration. © Medicina Oral S.
